Booked for 2 weeks would have come home on 2nd day if not for losing my passport and having to wait 8 days for another to come I left as soon as my new passport came we paid for new flights to get away from there it was 10 days of hell Got food poisoning on second day suspected from buffet then again on 6th day ended up in medical centre on a drip This hotel is dirty the food when you can eat it is of a bad standard and made us ill I survived on chips other guests we talked to had upset stomach’s
The hotel is well used and old needs a complete makeover it’s like a 80s hotel in the day and key card never works have to keep going back down to reception the hotel is well used it’s rough and everything is battered and old the tv is a joke older than me. We were in 3 different rooms all smelled of mold or sewage or both the hotel smells like an old people’s home full stop
Most of the staff are not nice with exception to a barman and a male member from behind the front desk rest are arrogant and pushy

I’m writing this review after a deeply upsetting experience this past weekend at Riu Caribe, Cancun. What was meant to be a celebratory trip with a group of 13 professional Black women turned into a series of stressful and disheartening encounters — marked by poor service, broken promises, and discriminatory treatment.
Before our arrival, we were assured of several accommodations: airport transfers, birthday room decorations, and guest rooms placed near each other. Upon arrival, those promises were revoked. I had to pay $250 USD separately for transportation and was denied a refund. The resort then attempted to charge $180 USD for room decorations — a price never disclosed beforehand.
Despite multiple conversations with several managers, not one was willing to accommodate any of our requests. Our group was placed in rooms scattered across the resort, and even basic amenities like pool towels were difficult to access without a specific towel card — despite wearing resort wristbands.
The most painful moment came when the resort refused to seat our party for a birthday dinner, despite prior arrangements. Staff escalated the situation by calling security, forcing us to leave the resort and find a restaurant off-site at the last minute.
Throughout our stay, we experienced racial bias and discriminatory treatment on multiple occasions. It was clear that our group was not treated with the same respect or courtesy as other guests, and that is unacceptable.
I would absolutely not recommend Riu Caribe to anyone — especially those planning a special occasion or traveling as a group. Hospitality should be inclusive, respectful, and professional. Unfortunately, this resort failed on all counts.

Do not stay here. Rife with shigella. Poor food quality and preparation and storage. Poor staff hygiene. It looks beautiful but there are major issues with the above and flies and birds all over the food.

RIU Costa Del Sol unfortunately lets the whole RIU brand down! Poor service throughout the hotel with old crockery and drinks not being cleared and lack of service at table with no water being reserved! RIU Montego Bay was the complete opposite! Maybe even though RIU is Spanish they’re are really shocking on their own country!
RIU Cabo Verde, Vegetariërs pas op
Hier was een service die we niet van RIU gewend zijn. Mijn schoondochter is vegetarisch. Riu Cabo Verde heeft kaartjes bij de gerechten staan die niet kloppen. Zelfs bij een salade waar duidelijk de kip bovenop ligt staat dat het vegetarisch is. Wanneer wij de restaurant medewerkers hier op aanspreken worden we niet serieus genomen. Kaartjes worden niet aangepast of verwijderd. Uiteindelijk wilde de restaurant manager, een dame, het serieus oppakken en haalde er een kok bij die speciaal een gerecht voor haar wilde maken. Maar daar gaat het niet om. De kaartjes bij de gerechten moeten kloppen. Voor mensen met een allergie voor noten, vis of schaaldieren, kan dit zelfs dodelijk zijn wanneer op het bordje niet de juiste gegevens zijn vermeld. Het personeel realiseert zich dit onvoldoende.
Uiteindelijk is ook mijn schoondochter via de dokter in de clinic terecht gekomen omdat zij zich goed ziek voelde en door de diarree dreigde uit te drogen, verder heeft er een bloedonderzoek plaats gevonden en heeft de arts een sterk middel voor geschreven om haar zich beter te laten voelen.
Wij gaan elk jaar in juni naar RIU Palace Meloneros, daar is een aparte counter met maaltijden voor vegetariërs, dat is daar perfect geregeld
Op de kamer( 1051) van mijn zoon en schoondochter viel de douchekop zodra deze werd aangezet naar beneden. Driemaal hebben we hierover geklaagd, driemaal zou het opgelost zijn, maar helaas. De houder van de douchekop is versleten en moet vervangen worden.
Ook bij de reisleider van TUI hebben we de klachten gemeld en een klachtenformulier ingevuld. De reisleider zou de klachten met het management hebben besproken.
Op de avond voor ons vertrek heeft ze nog een aantal attenties ontvangen, 2 handdoeken, een strandtas en een fles Brut. Aardig, maar haar vakantie was letterlijk en figuurlijk verpest, veel tijd verloren met bezoek aan de dokter en een excursie die we zouden maken hebben we moeten annuleren.
Vanzelfsprekend had dit ook invloed op de rest van de deelnemers aan deze reis.
Kortom dit zijn we niet gewend van RIU en stelde erg teleur.

Serious Safety Incident Ignored by Riu Palace Macao Management
During my stay at Riu Palace Macao (Sept 22–29, 2025), I experienced one of the most shocking service incidents I’ve ever encountered at a hotel.
While dining at one of the resort’s restaurants, I was served water poured from a wine bottle by two waiters — as if it were wine. When I confronted them, both admitted they had poured it from a bottle left in a sink, and the hotel’s sub-director later confirmed this in writing.
This is a serious breach of hygiene and food safety standards. Serving an unknown liquid from an unverified bottle is unacceptable anywhere, especially at a resort that calls itself “5-star.”
What made things worse was the management’s complete lack of follow-up.
No one from hotel management or Riu’s corporate office ever spoke to me about it during the rest of my stay. I later filed a formal complaint (WRC2XXQN) to Riu headquarters in Mallorca, but their reply was vague — basically saying there’s nothing they can do.
Throughout the rest of the trip, my family and I felt anxious and uncomfortable, worried that staff might retaliate or tamper with our food or drinks after I complained. That’s not the kind of fear you should ever feel on vacation.
This incident shows how Riu Palace Macao and Riu corporate management do not take guest safety or accountability seriously.
For the price and reputation of this resort, the way they handled this was deeply disappointing.
If you care about safety, professionalism, and accountability, I strongly suggest choosing another resort.

Went to riu jambu zanzebar from September 25th to Oct 6th had to wait 3.30 min to get into my room..
Rooms are a good size but no alcohol in the room just soft drinks
Most staff are fantastic except for an issue with my missing galaxy ear buds that went missing from my room this was reported to reception and the security who failed to turn up for a meeting with me that's unexceptable and shows incompetence this issue i feel was brushed under the carpet..food was hit and miss plenty of sun beds stunning beach ⛱️ but constant problem with vendors hassling you
There are jellyfish 🪼 in the sea where myself and other people were getting stung..with no warning signs of jellyfish this is a good hotel but remember to lock up your valuables

RIU/TUI Disabled guests overlooked
I recently returned from Riu Negril Jamaica.I always email ahead and explain my disability needs (can't walk long distances ,need a ground floor room,can't do steps)Let me start by saying this hotel was refurbed in Dec 24,it is popular with return guests(quite clearly able bodied)The hotel and TUI advise a room in Block 1 which is nearest to all facilities .The rooms start at 1011/1066 I was given rm 1064,virtually in Block 2 ! The walk to my rm was far too much so rang reception and was told abruptly "fully booked can't change" Now for an able bodied guest I would say walking past a spa ,towelhut reception,entertainment area,sports bar,kulinarium,mandalay,steakhouse then you reach the furthest point of the hotel green island buffet is acceptable ,but not a guest with 13 replacement joints with walking difficulties !! This is not disabled friendly,I felt like a second class citizen 600rms and only 1 disabled toilet in the whole complex .2 toilets by the pool areas no grab rails ,low toilets in a wet area not safe by any means!In total 4 adapted rms,I'm not a wheelchair user so would not request one of them rms ,but they was at the beginning of Block 1 so that wouldn't of helped. I understand that there are all levels of disabilities but even the basics were not in place Yes if your in a wheelchair you could get around but still you had the toilet situation I'd of thought during a refurb in this day of disability rights,some laws needed to be passed ? I have been in touch with RIU &TUI and awaiting responses but I'm sure they will just pass the book,somebody needs to be made accountable ,they take our money and we are expected to put up or shut up I will not let this go Im seeing more and more restaurants,bars,hotels not caring at all about disabled guests!! Anybody else had any joy dealing with these companies please let me know Thanks in advance

I have written a Tripadvisor write up about the hotel, this is about the so called aftercare.
On our final day at the hotel my daughter realised she’d left her AirPods in her room and we spoke to reception. For some reason the cleaner who found them TOOK THEM HOME!! After it became apparent they could not be returned in time before we left as they lived nearly an hour away, they took my details and promised to post them out. After 2 weeks I contacted to ask where they were…they had lost my details, seemingly made no effort to find them via TUI
They were posted out but, Royal Mail reported the parcel arrived damaged and empty in the UK and we were given the empty envelope.
For some reason, the RIU Funana management think they shoulder no blame in this, even though their cleaner took the item, they sent the AirPods in an unsecured envelope.
The central RUI customer service simply didn’t care or want to get involved, repeatedly pointing me back to the hotel. The problem was that the hotel were not responding. I am not sure what the purpose of their central complaints team is now I have used them. They could do nothing and wanted to do nothing. They took no interest or accountability, just useless.

Just spent a week at the riu buenevista…
Just spent a week at the riu buenevista in Tenerife reading some of the reviews on here I was worried well I need not have been. The hotel was spotless the staff were nothing short of fantastic from the cleaners to the bar staff the restaurant staff and the reception staff and the fantastic entertainment team. The food was all inclusive food but it was tasty and hot the drinks were fab the pool areas were clean and tidy no problems getting a bed (that could be time of year) but all in all we had a great time and would 100% return for those who gave it a bad review I suggest you pay for 5star if that's what you expect and desire

Verguenza de hotel, sin ascensores, todos rotos no funcionaban. Habitaciones sucias y con moho.
Tres días si hacer la habitación, estábamos encima des restaurante y a las 6 de la mañana y a las 5 de la tarde era imposible dormir, arrastrando sillas y haciendo ruido.
La comida repetitiva , todos los días la misma comida, daba asco, lleno de moscas.
Los camareros pasaban de atender y se hacían los despistados, las mesas del comedor y los salvamanteles con más porqueria acumulada de años.
Cucarachas en las habitaciones y en todos los sitios.
Conclusión un asco de hotel. Nunca volveré allí.VERGUENZA RIU REPUBLICA.

RIU REPUBLICA,PUNTA CANA.Ants and some small coacroaches in the room,shower hardly working,sheets -oh my god ,under ultra violet,disaster,all dirty in blood and other stuff.Video and photo can attach on request.Asked several times via email with rep ,but nope.Last 2 nights found cockroaches in the shower,nice attachment.Staff lazy,raming wals instead of making their job ,especially in restaurants.Everybody just seeking for the tips.Staff drinking alchohol,in the front of me twice in 5 days-no managment to take control.Restaurants opening time 6 pm,but you need to wait to see if possible to sit ,where busy 10-14 tables out of 80.Saying no space for today we fully booked.You can eat in main bufet instead.3 stars hotel max.without digging dipper to the services.Deffenetelly was not expecting that low service in 5 star with that many non fixed issues.

Never actually got to book a hotel. The AP doesn't work, you just enter your details, and it freezer and on line doesn't work either. So called the customer service line and it's impossible to understand the agent and prices are higher. Gave up trying to use Riu hotels.
RIU rip off…
Just checked in at Riu Costa del Sol to find out that if you want to stay at the beach you have to buy seats and umbrella from one of the bars on the beach. Misleading information on the website. And I cannot cancel without paying 300 euros penalty. What a rip off. Stay away from RIU.

No se puede cantar ni hacer ruido en las instalaciones exteriores, nos mandaron a seguridad dos veces porque cantabamos en nuestro grupo, después había mucho más gente a las 3de la mañana que si habían bastante ruido con altavoces y no pasaba nada, no hay animación cuando estás en las tumbonas por eso nos pusimos a cantar y las demás personas se unieron a nosotros , no es normal que porque una persona inglesa diga que hay ruido ya todo el hotel tiene que estar de luto sin hacer ruido , para lo que se a pagado no lo veo justo ya que nosotros nuestro cante no era fuerte , la música que había puesta tenía muchísimos más decibelios que lo que podía sonar nuestra guitarra, y que conste que en recepción nos dieron permiso para hacerlo
RIU PALACE TRES ISLAS UN HOTEL DOVE TORNO SEMPRE CON IMMENSO PIACERE
Dal 2015 torno al RIU Palace Tres Islas di Fuerteventura e precedentemente ho frequentato altri hotel della catena alberghiera alle Baleari e alle Canarie. Tutti gli hotel offrono un ottimo trattamento (gentilezza, pulizia, buon cibo e buona posizione).
Al Tres Islas il valore aggiunto rispetto agli altri hotel, lo fanno le persone che ci lavorano sempre sorridenti, disponibili oltre le aspettative e molto accoglienti. Per me, in particolare gli impiegati e il responsabile della reception, sono diventati una famiglia, premurosi e mai invadenti rispettano e svolgono il loro ruolo con estrema professionalità. Apprezzo inoltre lo stile old style della struttura ed in particolare l'elegante servizio al tavolo delle bevande anche per chi sceglie all inclusive. È veramente raro poter usufruire di un servizio di alto livello anche in all inclusive, solitamente in tutti gli hotel di altre catene alberghiere non esiste ed obbliga gli ospiti a doversi servire dai dispenser per ogni cosa o a fare code interminabili al bar, anziché stare comodamente seduti al tavolo della sala da pranzo, in terrazza o in piscina.
Adoro l'isola di Fuerteventura e quando mi sarà possibile ritornerò al RIU Palace Tres Islas.
Un particolare ringraziamento a Florenzio, Fulgenzio, Javier e all'ultima assunta di origine italiana, della quale al momento mi sfugge il nome.

Me eh hospedado en riu palm oasis , el día de ayer me hizo un servicio por la tarde una camarera de pisos sobre las 7 de la tarde muy bueno una chica llamada alicia pregunté su nombre ya que me hospede dos semanas y nunca recibí un servicio tan bueno como el de ayer las anteriores semanas avía una señorita de pelo muy corto que solo me pone toallas está chica me dejó una cama preciosa gracias el servicio de comida buenísimo recepción espectacular exceptuando la señora que comento de pelo corto pues lo demás genial
