RIU Palace Maldives

Stayed at the RIU Palace Maldives. Stunning location, easy check in after short speedboat journey, attentive staff, great food and service.
The bar staff were friendly, remembered everybody by name as well as our preferred drink orders.
The chefs would greet us personally every day and inform us of any specials.
Go there if you want a chilled out break with incredible service.

Paradise island

Paradise island , Nassau Bahamas. Hotel is a lot smaller than most. Entertainment was not great. Spent more money on Taxi’s to go out as there’s nothing happening onsite in the evenings.
On arrival we checked in online, waste of time because we had to do the whole process at the front desk because they had not received anything to inform them we had checked in already.
Now enter the room, mouldy musty damp smell, figured maybe room hadn’t been used so give ac time to cool it down. Nope everything in the room gets damp! Clothes in closet all damp. Even our brand new passports in the safe curled up and were damp!
The bed was lumpy, uncomfortable and the extra pillows were terrible. House keeping was hit or miss , at the beginning of our stay our housekeeper was great, attention to detail , always left her a tip. Then shift change happened and so did the lack of care. Floors not swept, shower not cleaned, only bed made and trash removed. No towel replacements.
On the last full day of our stay we took a trip out of the hotel for the day. On return I noticed my make up bag had been moved, ok housekeeping has to move things to clean right?! Nope, she hadn’t moved it to clean, there was traces of my make up all around the sink, but I hadn’t used any make up for 3 days!
Then I noticed our used coffee cups had not been washed, or replaced with clean cups, they were just put back on the coffee tray upside down and dirty. There was sand still in the shower and towels not replaced.
I lifted the sheet's on the bed to get in that night and thought I’d check the state of the mattress- Omg disgusting 🤮 stained old and filthy!

The beach was ok, the ocean was stunning but the RIU needs to look at this resort and its practices! I’ve never stayed at a RIU that staff expect a tip for showing you to aa empty sun lounger! Then another tip for the umbrella that’s broken! The vendors on the beach can be annoying, persistent and don’t give up! One even got mad when we continued to say no thanks, he told us we were “f******B*****ds”
Avoid “chippy” on the beach.
Oh and don’t expect the RIU beach staff to bring you drinks, the bar staff won’t allow them to bring drinks to customers on the beach because the bar staff lose tips! So, if you want a drink be prepared to go back and forth and get them yourself, up the sandy, wet slippery steps to the bar and back down to the beach….
I loved Nassau, I hated the RIU
Food- overall good, they do not fully cook potatoes, always hard and under cooked but otherwise food was ok

Cockroach infestation, aggressive staff, and three weeks of silence

I stayed at RIU Taghazout in early May 2026. What followed was one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had, made significantly worse by the hotel's and group’s complete failure to respond to a formal complaint now three weeks old.

During our stay we encountered multiple cockroaches across the property, including one in our room at 2AM, forcing us to relocate in the middle of the night. The replacement room had not been cleaned — strong smell of urine, hair on the towels. The lift was out of service, so we carried heavy luggage ourselves.

The following morning, the hotel director Rafael refused to speak to us in English, raised his voice, and told us he had personal matters to attend to and did not want to hear about a cockroach complaint. All of this is on record as we had the customer helpline on the phone at the time.He stated the hotel had had this issue for years and considered it normal claiming there are cockroach trees everywhere in hot climate.

When I attempted to photograph the reception area to document who was on duty, a staff member grabbed my phone from my hands, forced my face to unlock it using Face ID, and passed it through four members of staff before returning it. I was genuinely concerned for my physical safety. I have pictures of these people on my phone now and would be happy to share with anyone who needs them.

The only resolution offered was a refund for the final night — a night we were not staying regardless.

We submitted a formal written complaint on 4 May. Three weeks later: no acknowledgment, no response, nothing.

There are dozens of similar reviews referencing cockroach infestations at this property. This is not an isolated incident. Avoid at all cost.

fantastische locatie en geweldige service

We verbleven met 6 personen op 3 kamers in RIU plaza Manhattan Times Square. Een fantastische ervaring. De locatie is perfect; misschien 100 meter van een metrostation en van Times Square. De bediening en service zijn top. De zeikers die hier en daar klagen over de omweg die ze moeten maken voor het ontbijt (eerst naar de lobby en daar in de lift naar de ontbijtzaal), snappen de opzet niet. Wij meldden ons elke morgen netjes aan dat we met 6 personen wilden ontbijten en als we uit de lift kwamen, wisten ze in de eetzaal dat we met zessen kwamen en stond er een tafel voor 6 klaar. Helemaal top geregeld!

Abysmal Customer Service


We stayed at ce in the Maldives and, based on our experience, it is certainly not a five-star hotel when it comes to customer service. The seaplane was cancelled on the day of departure after we had already paid $480 just two days earlier, and the way the refund has been handled since then has been disgraceful.

We were told to apply by email once we returned to the UK, and despite numerous emails and forms, it took **three months to finally receive our refund**. As of **18th May**, the money has now been paid, but only after a long, frustrating process.

To make matters worse, we were asked to go to my partner’s bank to prove she has the account and to get the bank to produce a letter, which is an unreasonable demand for a refund that should have been straightforward. This is not the level of service you expect from a hotel that markets itself as luxury. Taking holidaymakers’ money easily but then stalling and making refunds extremely difficult is shocking.

Please do not reply to this review, as your customer service has been absolutely shocking. Potential customers should read this carefully and decide for themselves whether they want to risk paying extra to a resort that makes getting money back so difficult.

I stayed in RIU punta cana resorts

I stayed in RIU punta cana resorts, the attention its horrible and the all included its a lie, you have to pay for hidden prices and the people who assist you at the bars dont even say hi to you most of the times, the events are delay and they dont start on time also, the towels are limited how is possible that me as a client have to pay for an extra towel to my 2 year kid?. horrible service

Few hotels can match Riu's excellent service and location

Few hotels can match the excellent, personal service we received at the Riu Palace Riviera Maya this past fortnight. Every staff member gave us genuine cheerful service throughout. The choice of food and drink was incredible in its Main Restuarant complemented by the five specialty restaurants, and the waiters could not do enough for you. Most of them had been working at the hotel for well over a decade, some two, which goes to prove how pleased they were to work for this organisation.
The hotel complex is pristine, with cleaners always on hand to ensure everything was spotless. Even the beautiful, palm covered beach had a team of men clearing up any seaweed that came ashore.
Our room was superb with a great views to the Courtyard gardens. It was a pleasure to come into what seemed a brand new suite after our morning walk/swim. Jessica did a great job cleaning morning and occasionally evenings, if required.
The Bar Service/Team was always around to take down your order with a smile. So, my wife and I are so looking forward to our next holiday there in January.

When our reservations moved from Hilton…

When our reservations moved from Hilton to Riu, we could not get ANY customer service to help us cancel our reservations. The RIU first number took us to a gym, and the second number was on a loop that asked us for english or spanish and could not get beyond that. They would not allow Hilton to cancel for us, and when I got the RIU general customer service, that person only gave me an email address (I had tried the direct hotel one earlier, only to get it returned) to send my request. DO NOT book with them unless you have no need to ever use customer service!

Riu Monica, Nerja, Spanje. goed hotel !

Ik zat In Riu Monica, in Nerja, Spanje. Ik kreeg een kamer met zeer matig uitzicht. Ik schreef mijn klacht. Meteen werd actie genomen door Riu. Ik kreeg een kamer met mooi uitzicht, zijdelings zeezicht en zicht op het zwembad.
Prima gedaan. Het hotel is trouwens ook prima.👌Bedankt!!!!

Très mauvaise expérience au Riu Plaza Manhattan 47str.
Ça a commencé par un problème dont le personnel ni la direction n'a souhaité apporter la moindre aide. Puis on a enchaîné : bruits couloir et plafond, climatisation trop bruyante, attente jusqu'à 25' pour un ascenseur, 3 dosettes de café pour 2 par jour, porte coulissante vitrée dans salle d'eau bruyante et pas intime, lobby digne d'un hall d'aéroport, pas de lieu de détente type salon, bar avec quelques tables type cafétéria. Pour un 4 ☆ à 418$ la chambre en avril, sans petit déjeuner.
Quand on connaît l'offre hôtelière à Manhattan, on trouve facilement mieux et moins cher. Le tout cautionné par Booking.com.

Definitely go and stay for a week.

Hi, my wife and I recently stayed at the Riu Karamboa , Boa Vista Cape Verde. We wanted a warm break over Easter 2026 and this was the closest to the UK to almost ensure the good weather. We don’t normally do all inclusive but on this island it was the only way to go, the hotel is a very large complex with everything you need. We were nervous when we read that there had been problems with hygiene in Cape Verde but we have to say that when we arrived and throughout our stay the staff were generally nice and worked hard to keep everything clean. Plenty of sun beds, no need to be putting your towels down at silly time, just chill and go with the flow, plenty for all. The bars are nice for an all inclusive and the reception area is a nice place to site and relax, towels are provided nice and clean daily for the pool or beach. The food halls, I don’t want to call them restaurants because they are not, even the special booked places are the same they are all self service and the food is the same more or less wherever you eat. The selection is substantial and for mass produced food it was very nice, like I’ve said we aren’t used to all inclusive so it’s more us getting used to this not the place being bad. The food halls were very clean and the staff and cooks are constantly cleaning and taking dirty dishes away. The hotel and staff are very hard working and constantly cleaning however the people staying at the complex are not so concerned about themselves or other people. The hotel provides sanitation stations all over the place but lots of guests don’t use them, they are using shared serving utensils, eating food as they travel about through the food halls selecting what they want to eat, using butter knives that are for cutting off what you need not to spread the toast whilst still at the counter! Just take what you need and put it in the little dish that are provided! Guests you need to be better at sharing and being considerate to the other guests. The hotel couldn’t in our opinion do anymore than they did to make this holiday a lovely break for us and they succeeded, thank you ! People staying at the hotel you need to be better, don’t complain about people being sick and the hotels not doing enough when it’s you guys being inconsiderate!!! Use the hand cleaners that are provided, I don’t see what else the hotels can do to keep things healthy. Tui, who we booked with didn’t have any interaction with the guests or from what we experienced with the hotel, they have become just a booking agent who disappears once you paid for your holiday, they have a level of responsibility as an agent but like I say this isn’t the first time we’ve experienced this but nothing to do with the hotel.
We’ve scored the hotel 4 stars based on the cost of the holiday and the service received, those of you that regularly have all inclusive holidays I would imagine give it 5 stars if it’s your thing. For us a week away in the lovely weather, 6 hour flight , basic accommodation with basic nice food, well worth the money for a starter for the summer holidays. We recommend this hotel, our stay was without any problems during the week we stayed. The place is windy but the sun is hot! We witnessed lots of lobster coloured people so don’t get caught out guys! A week in the sun and returned with a great tan! Book it and go and use the facilities provided. Thank you for the stay it was great! Tui, all inclusive should mean all in, not handing money over at the hotel desk for government tax, you guys need to cover this. Put it in the price!

Hotel med problemer!!!!


Dejligt hotel, MEN der er ikke styr på madhygiejnen. Vi rejste 4 personer. 3 af os blev syge med madforgiftning.

Vi fik heller ikke de værelser der var bestilt.

Vi besøger naturligvis ikke Vistamar igen.

Lack of customer service

The stay (Hotel Riu Costa del Sol) is ok.
But the service (?) of their customer department is very, very, bad.
They give the impression that the customer (=me) is not telling the truth.
So a simple, polite, question for a refund of 20 euro (=1,15% of the payment for our stay) is refused.
No service

Sunwing package to Rui Santa Fe

Sunwing package to Rui Santa Fe, Los Cabos, Mex., Feb 28/Mar07,2026. Checked out approx. 11am. When it's time to leave the resort, we find the manager & his assistant are holding our luggage hostage. They insist the television is broken (turns out it is not- JUST requires a system reset because of signal loss). BUT the manager forces us to pay for the tv ($1000.00 + CAN$) because he was delinquent in performing his job. Instead of troubleshooting the signal loss, he insists the tv is broken. His incompetence  as a manger should not be passed on to a guest. We did not break the tv, we were not even aware the tv was not functioning, which we had explained to him.  An internet search of a black screen with a small white box in bottom right hand corner explains how to do a simple total reset: unplug both electrical and signal input from the unit, wait, reconnect and a complete reset is done.  Therefore, I should get a total reimbursement for this expense as it was a false charge, based on poor judgement and bad decision making on the part of the manager (Arn.....). The fact that the manager did not perform this simple signal reset task, proves the incompetence of both  himself and maintenance staff.  I expect better treatment  from a reputable hotel chain like RUI Hotels.  Does this happen  all the time or was he abusing his managerial position to cheat a senior guest like myself? Reconsider your decision to book at the Rui Santa Fe, Los Cabos, Mex, or  else: BEWARE of possible negligence on their part which could cost you a lot as it has me.  This hotel should refund me the full amount by reversing the full charge.

Der var os et dødsfald på hotellet mens vi var der.

Needed a 0 star option

Needed a 0 star option. Had the worst resort experience ever. Our basic human rights were violated by the staff at this resort. My family and I have stayed at Riu’s all over the world and this is by far the worst Riu experience at Riu Cancun. We were physically attacked by a group of Hispanic men staying at the resort. As the men were attacking us they were threatening us that they would send the cartel after us. My cousin, she was bleeding nose busted begging for help, begging for the police, begging for security to do something and hotel staff did nothing! The police came and did no investigation. The hotel staff did not listen to us and kicked us out of the hotel in the middle of the night with no money no passports and did not let us get our belongings. They held our belongings hostage until a day later even then it was a fight to get our stuff. Do yourself a favour don’t stay here, this hotel does NOT deserve your money. They also let the person who broke my cousins nose to remain at the hotel we tried to press charges and the hotel staff said they don’t want to help us cause we are no longer guests of the hotel. They do NOT care about tourist safety. I have reached out to WestJet, Sunwing and Riu Resorts.

I am disgusted how we were treated. We had multiple witnesses who were other guests who spoke on our behalf and they were threatened by hotel staff that they would get kicked out to. Part of our group who were asleep and not involved were also forced to leave. We begged, bled and pleaded but no remorse was shown despite having video evidence from other guests clearly showing our assault. Management have fabricated stories and will not look at the evidence we have when it backs our story.

I’m not sure if this was clear racial profiling but the people who assaulted us, as we were screaming for security were allowed to stay.

This resort is not safe. They do not want to help. The staff lie and management have no regard for safety and proceed to ignore our emails and pleads for help in this foreign country. Staff even refused to give us the police’s number to press charges!

Riu Hotel, look at the evidence and compensate as we will proceed legally for your violation of our rights.

Please see pic proof of our booking for 6- total group was 15 people. 2 bookings of 6 people, 1 booking for 1 person and 1 booking for 2 people (from England).

Verken hotellet eller reiseselskapet Tui tok noen ansvar, de var helt fraskrivende. Etter et søk på hotellet viser det seg at de har hatt problemer med utbrudd over flere år. Så ikke besøk dette hotellet.
