My jasmine arrived safely, and beautifully packed in a crate ( I'll find many future uses for this ) and wood wool ( which I'll use for lighting my log-burner ).

It's a strong and healthy plant. Not broken into bits like so many postal plant deliveries.

I feel I've been spoiled having received this as a gift.

Paid nearly £60 for a pomegranate plant. Received a bare stick. No sign of life what so ever. Expected to wait up to 6 months for a leaf to appear or perhaps not.

The myrtle plant I ordered for my husband’s birthday in May was really beautifully packaged. I’ve bought from them before - vine, olive. All first class plants. The myrtle has just flowered. It’s delightful, the flowers are delicate and the perfume is beautiful. A really great growing gift.

My daughter has just received the Bay Tree I ordered for her. Her enthusiasm was such that I couldn't stop her talking! Apparently, the crate/wrapping was marvelous: the plant was the perfect size (as described and shown on the web site) healthy and arrived undamaged. This is the first time I've used this company. It won't be the last. They now have two more customers. Highly recommended.

This company is fantastic! I needed a suitable bereavement gift for my stepmother and flowers just didn't seem like the right fit. The 'Remembrance' section on site offered several lovely and appropriate options and provided a gift that she could keep and enjoy for years, rather than having to watch a bouquet wither away. I think most impressive, was the rapidity of the service, I ordered online on a Tuesday, and the gift had been delivered by the following day! I think she was blown away by the quality of the packaging and the thoughtfulness behind every aspect of the package, with particular praise for the notes on how to repurpose each element of the packaging - genius!

An excellent company and one that I was very pleased to have discovered via a delightful fig tree (etc) that my elderly mother received for her recent birthday. Also, terrific customer service in the person of Charlotte who was both able and willing to deal expertly with a matter that had been troubling me. I will definitely be using the company myself and more than happy to recommend The Gluttonous Gardener to anyone who might be looking for an unusual but utterly delightful present for any occasion. I had a lemon box delivered to my daughter in London yesterday for her birthday, as I am in Australia it is always hard to find something special for your loved ones . An excellent level of service. We received a pomegranate tree as a gift. The tree had some health issues, which is not unusual with a live product. The company replied quickly to my emails, and when the issue persisted, did not hesitate to send us a replacement plant. They went above and beyond without questioning the need for replacement. I would highly recommend the product and the service.

Very disappointed ordered a chilli plant for a present for my daughter. A very poor specimen arrived and certainly did not resemble the picture of the glorious looking chilli plant on the site. It would appear that more is focused on the superb packaging than the plant. I will not be purchasing anything else from this company.

UPDATE a lady phoned me from the company who had looked through the email trail about my order and felt I had not been treated fairly. So this morning I received a complimentary chilli plant and I have to say it is a really lovely plant COMPLETELY different to the very poor specimen sent in July. Thank you very much.

Ordered an olive 'tree' from this company for father's day....I wouldn't purchase from them again. All looks very great and pretty on the website however when the parcel arrived I could find no tree inside...it was a pot with a twig in...less than a foot tall...it hasn't even got a trunk...it's a tiny plant if you can call it that. So so dissappointed. The packaging was beautiful and it all arrived on time so I was expecting good things. I'm hoping for my husband's sake the plant grows otherwise it's a pathetic present from me, so annoyed.
Definately wouldn't recommend....pictures on site do not reflect what arrives.

Shambles. Ordered a gift and paid extra for a bottle of wine to go with it. No wine arrived. Had to open up the package to photograph and prove there was no wine hidden in there. Spoilt the gift, spoilt the surprise wine will arrive after the event. Asked for refund and remarkably the wine has already been dispatched. Will believe that when I see it. Never again. Don’t use them is my advice

Interesting, I never thought to check reviews as I have used this company through Not On The High St before and rated them 5 star. Not this time. I can see I am not the only one. Delivery was a disaster, product damaged and full of rot, customer service awful and to top it off only partially refunded. This was a gift for a friend. Her brother passed away and this was for his memorial garden. Can you imagine how sad this experience has been when it involved my poor friends brothers memory. No human response from this company. Possibly the worse experience through retail ever. I usually never write reviews. Shame on them and actually Not on The High Street haven’t done anything to help.

My poor brother bought one of their “new evergreen oak”s (cork oak) as a gift for our new house and arrival of our baby boy. When it arrived it was packaged beautifully and there was what looked like a healthy sapling inside....unfortunately though it was all style and no substance. I didn’t water it or unpackaged it from the pot and cellophane as normally you would be instructed to leave couriered plants for 2 weeks. There was visible condensation/moisture and no contrary immediate care instructions, so I thought it would be happy and intended to leave it to settle as usual. Within a week however, the leaves started wilting and browned quickly. I realised that this is normally a sign of over saturation so I un-potted it quickly only to discover it was completely drenched and smelt stagnant. The outer soil from the tall pot fell off to reveal the perfect shape of a 4” square pot formed by completely root-bound roots. Trying to tease them apart was almost impossible. There was also a stump at the bottom where it must have grown through the smaller pot and they just chopped it off to re-pot it. Some of the larger roots around the outside of the system turned out not to be attached either. I wish I could attach the photos I have of this.
I left it out of the pot to try and dry it out a little and let it breathe. I don’t believe you should have to go to the effort of rinsing and disinfecting the roots of a dying plant coming from what claims to be a reputable company, so I didn’t go that far. A quick google search told me what soil type they normally like - well drained, sandy is best...completely the opposite of the mulch that had been packed around it.
Having checked their reviews and seen their customer care track record I didn’t even bother to contact them. I’m so upset on my brother’s behalf and I don’t have the heart to tell him what happened. Within another couple of days the leaves had crisped up and there was no further sign of life. Today, 8 weeks later, I’m calling time on the sorry-looking 18” twig I gave poking out of a pot. I ordered another from Amazon (sold by Tree online nursery) along with a fig which both came with proper care instructions and look really healthy. Hopefully I’ll have better luck this time around!

I gave a friend an amazing grape vine plant which has grown and produced grapes so far, they always remind me of my present to them. I bought a valentines present for my husband (really for myself) a lemon tree and he received it this morning!!!
Now all I need is the gin.

Really disappointing.

We bought a lemon tree as a gift.

It was very poorly packed - no 'fragile' label, no 'this way up' label, and nothing but paper straw and a cellophane wrap to protect a heavy and fragile plant.

Needless to say the pot was smashed, soil was everywhere, all the lemons had dropped off.

Even worse, the company said that the plant itself was still OK, and only offered to replace the pot.

So now, instead of a luxury gift to give, I have a complete mess - I have to repot a plant which now has no fruit on it.

Awful experience - steer clear. I have now found other reviews online that say the exact same issue. I wish I had read them before ordering.
