This company rip people off by selling their own brand car batteries far more expensive than branded batteries which are exactly the same battery.
You will find these cheaper branded batteries an example is YUASA AMG096 advertised but out of stock when you get there like happened to me then because you need a battery being sold the exact same battery branded Halfords being sold for £20 more or £35 more when it’s not on offer.
Their Head Office are not in the least bit worried about losing me and my family as returning customers their only focus is profit.

This goes down as the worst experience we have had at a garage. During a repair for for an oil leak at our local garage they noticed we had broken front suspension springs, unfortunately they could not complete the work before we needed the car fully loaded to go on holiday, reluctantly we went to Halfords, what a mistake. Initially we were booked in for Tuesday I was there when my wife booked it, so I know there was no mistake, we turned up only to be told we were not booked in. We managed to re-book they took the car in, when we returned they tried to charge us for a whole other load of parts. That's not the end. After the holiday we took it back to our local garage for the MOT and told us the springs were fitted badly and not seated correctly. (potentially dangerous) and the CV boot was split, most likely but we cannot prove it while fitting the springs. We went back to Halfords, who took a while to be persuaded they did have staff available to see it straight away as they were all stood outside chatting. When we looked underneath, 2 different sized springs had been fitted, one upside down. I was told it was an easy mistake to make but don't worry its under guarantee. No apology for my hassle. We gave them the chance to fix it, only to be asked to pay £457.98 for the privilege of their poor workmanship. Eventually left without paying, only when I said that none had apologised throughout the whole process, did I get an apology. The worst service we have ever had. This was the York Halfords others may be better. We will not be going again. I still cannot really believe it..

i booked a break check [Booking Number: A428B126438]. on arrival, i handed over the key. the person went outside and observed the break pads from outside and came back to me, and said break pads needs to be changed in 1or 2 months, i asked him why he did not check from inside, he said he does not need to check from inside. i don't know why he took my keys, the car was parked outside and he went outside and had a glimpse. is it what they call break check? so disappointed. cant recommend Halfords for break checks.

Nasty aggressive staff misdiagnosis and refusing to return my keys. Avoid at all costs.

Wanted to put bike in for a puncture repair. Waited at bike counter for 15 mins but no staff evident. Asked the 3 other staff if there was a bike guy - they said 'No he called in sick today!" like it was funny.

It's 5pm in the evening, but the thought to put a sign up to spare people wasting their time waiting hadn't occurred.

Very simple: "No bike service today - sorry!"

Honestly with customer service like this it's no wonder Halfords are almost dead on the high street. Could have tried to sell me a puncture fix spray or asked me to come back tomorrow to see the bike guy. Nope, not arsed. Happily taking my money elsewhere as Halfords clearly don't want it.

Manager Paul was very pleasant and attentive, mechanics were very nice, I am pleased with over all work done, MOT and Service at Dundee.

Ewan was professional, knowledgeable and went above and beyond to get my bike repaired for a weekend away with 40 kids from the cycling club.
I was late to put my bike in for repair but he went above and beyond to make sure I could have my bike on time. He explained everything that needed repaired and gave me a quote.
Very happy with the workmanship and amazing service.
Halfords are luckily to have such a positive, customer focused will mannered member of staff. Thank you.

Called in to Halfords at Riverside Northampton to purchase a bike for my 10 year old grandson. I was served by John in the cycle department and he could not have been more helpful. Knowledgeable and efficient, and he went the extra mile to ensure that my grandson had his bike for his birthday. Thank you John. Halfords in Wellingborough, you lost a sale by your innefficient and 'can't be bothered' attitude. Improvement needed in customer service at this store.

Dreadful website, can't simply phone store to enquire about stock,forced to go onto online chat with an idiot,halfords are utterly useless nowadays.

Had tyre booking for 11:30 expecting it to take about an hour. When dropping off tyres i was aked to leave the car with the all day which I couldn't do as I live 30 min drive away and needed car later that day. They used an excuse that they were behind schedule as their ramps were serviced withot prior notification. Regardless whether this is true or not, their tyre bays do not have ramps! I had to request that the order be cancelled and to issue an immediate refund. I was told refund would take bwtween 3 and 6 days. I put a complaint into their customer services woi stated they can't authorise immediate refunds. I escalated to the manager who did authorise a refund stating it could take 3+ days. Money was in my account before we finished the call but he was still adament that refunds take at least 3 days. Customer service is not at a level you would expect from a national company.

Awful experience, needed just a front pipe to my exhaust replacing, quoted for a new battery, a new exhaust and a new water pump. Been back to my regular garage as I only went to Halfords for a diagnostic test for an amber light,which was not flashing. I literally only asked for the diagnostic test, which they blamed on my battery and pump, it wasn't at all! The flex in the front pipe has blown and the code was linked to the emissions sensor because of it and not anything else. Quoted 1100 by Halfords and 250 by my garage. Ladies beware! Avoid where possible, shops are great but their garages try and rip you off

What an awful company Halfords are…. My wife went today to get a new battery fitted on her 2009 Mercedes 250cd
Halfords told her it was £170 for the battery and fitting and another £50 to re-program the car. Utter tosh!!!
Luckily she called me whilst sat waiting to have it done. I told her they were ripping her off and to go elsewhere. She did and got the job done with brand new battery fitted for £100. No £50 programming needed. In fact, the other garage laughed.
She wasted fuel driving the half hour there and back and could have gone to local garage in first place !

I have had my company car booked in for 5 weeks, on arrival this morning at the Tamworth Autocentre I was told that 'Tesla' is too wide and therefore cannot MOT it. They were challenged based on the fact that Tesla is no wider than any of the other cars they have there but still refused to support. The car is booked in through Arval therefore most likely complete work at a discounted cost so they don't like to do them, Rubbish service with bad management.

Terrible staff . Not interested in customer in store. Just wanted want customers fixing lights bulbs for outside car. Terrible website. I could of steel anything in the store, because everyone was outside repairing a number plate.aswell . Lol 😆

Booked a mobile tyre fitting appointment online for the next day. Realised not long after that we didn’t have the wheel locking nut key so called customer service who said they can add a locking nut removal to the order, but due to their systems being updated the day before they couldn’t take the payment for it over the phone therefore couldn’t add it to the order. I canceled the appointment in the hope I could re book it online WITH the nut removal service but there was no option for this. The agent I spoke to on the phone told me to ‘move away from your little ones’ (my kids). When I said I’ll move away but they’re likely to follow me her response was ‘well tell them you’re on the phone and to be quiet’. They are 2 and 3 years old! The whole reason why I needed a mobile fitter in the first place. I won’t be using Halfords again.

I initially brought Thule roof bars and bike rack from Halfords at Pipps Hill Retail Park in Basildon which was a good experience along with previous purchases from the extremely helpful staff. Step forward the manageress. When she tried fitting the Thule areo bars it’s a totally different story. Clamps put on the wrong way, rubbers not seated properly along with instructions blowing across the carpark and after 30 minutes watching two people clearly out of their depth, enough was enough. The manageress was getting frustrated and annoyed and she was extremely argumentative and wouldn’t listen to my concerns. The only thing more dangerous than someone who doesn’t know what they are doing is someone who thinks they do. One excuse was she hadn’t fitted a roof system to a VW Golf in 4 years. Really? Probably down to the fact that the VW Golf is the second most popular car in Britain. Avoid her at all costs as the rest of the staff are all spot on.

You would think that in this day and age, customer service and customer satisfaction is paramount to any business !! Clearly not at Halfords Store, Mansfield. I never have a problem finding what I want, but just despair at the wait to pay for one item !! There was a bloke sitting behind the counter faffing about with a customer sorting light bulb fitting out that was painful to watch and listen too - but worse another member of staff was standing next to the other till could clearly see I was waiting but walked off without making any effort to acknowledge me ? I don't particularly care how busy either of them were, but no excuse for not acknowledging me !! There are so few staff in branch now, that even Lord Lucan could have hidden here unnoticed !! Customers must come first Halfords, the company is not on its knees so for goodness sake have some customer courtesy to provide prompt and efficient service !!

I can’t praise Halfords Dunfermline enough. I’d been struggling with a car issue for days — the AA couldn’t sort it, Arnold Clark couldn’t sort it — but the moment I walked into Halfords and explained what was going on, they jumped straight in to help.
Within no time, they had my car fixed. No judgement, no hassle, just kindness and real expertise.
Outstanding service from a team who genuinely care. I’m so grateful.
