I am extremely dissatisfied with my experience with Australian Computer Traders.

I purchased a Dell Latitude laptop advertised as “Grade A”, expecting a device in excellent condition with only minimal signs of previous use. Unfortunately, the laptop I received does not match what I reasonably expected from a Grade A product.

Almost every screw on the back of the laptop has visible tool marks, suggesting that the laptop may have been opened or worked on previously. Even more concerning, a small strip/panel on the back is open and not properly fitted or secured. This raises serious concerns for me about the laptop’s previous repair history, refurbishment process, quality control, and how it was classified as Grade A.

None of these issues were clearly disclosed before I made the purchase.

To make matters worse, when I contacted the support team regarding the condition of the laptop, I was asked to pay $24.45 in return postage costs. I paid the postage, but I was then informed that this postage cost would not be refunded.

I find this completely unacceptable. I received a product that, in my opinion, did not match the advertised Grade A condition, yet I am now expected to be financially out of pocket simply for returning it.

This experience has seriously damaged my confidence in Australian Computer Traders. I have purchased from this company before and have even recommended them to others, but after this experience, I would be extremely hesitant to do so again.

FUTURE CUSTOMERS – PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL. Inspect your laptop thoroughly immediately after receiving it, including the screws, back cover, panels, screen, and overall physical condition. Take photographs before using it if anything appears wrong.

I am requesting a full refund, including the $24.45 return postage cost, because I do not believe I should have to bear the cost of returning a product that I consider was not supplied in the advertised condition.

Has anyone else had a similar experience? How can a laptop with visible signs of being opened and an unsecured rear panel reasonably be classified and advertised as Grade A?

We purchased a mid range priced laptop for my wife. When we plugged it in all fine but then noticed that the battery wasn't taking charge. Contacted ACT and they arranged postage back to them. We received the laptop, plugged it in and everything is all good. Courteous service, easy to get along with, well priced and true to thier word.

We bought a refurbished Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga 5th Gen for my daughter to use for school and have been very happy. The laptop was in perfect condition. Highly recommended. The customer service and willingness to support during a warranty claim was excellent. In fact, even when the technical report showed there was no issue (and therefore no need for the warranty claim), they were still willing to have a further look and replace the device if necessary. We will definitely buy from them again and have recommended these devices to friends and family.

My day spa computer crashed, and I needed a replacement quickly. I purchased on a Thursday and had it on the Monday afterwards - sensational - a great little computer, smaller yet more powerful than the last one which has even given more space on front office reception. So impressed am I, will purchase another one for my related business with a sound card to run my alternate dispute resolution practice.

I ordered a refurbished laptop. It was sent same day and arrived sooner than I'd expected, very carefully wrapped. I've spent the afternoon adjusting settings to my specs, downloading programs I use, and bashing out a document on the keyboard. All seems in perfect working order, too. I'd recommend this firm to everyone. Price excellent, too.

My computer seems to be exactly what I need apart from Microsoft being on it. Microsoft is a chore! But I'll remedy that soon.

These guys are the dodgy brothers of computer refurbishment, I got sent a totally untested laptop. Wouldn't charge or turn on, no way it was tested before it was sent out, then had to listen to their bullsh*t excuses

Not built to last. The PC I bought only functioned for 1 to 2 years before the drive failed. They use cheap, entry-level SSDs in their refurbishing process which completely ruins the reliability of otherwise good hardware. Unhappy with the lifespan of this purchase.

I originally came in to purchase a different pc, but after chatting to the team member in store we settled on a better option. I was satisfied with the help, the price & discounts and the delivery. I would definitely come back in the future.

I purchased a refurbished laptop from Australian Computer Traders, and it has had ongoing faults since I bought it. After returning it for repair, it was sent back in a worse condition and was effectively unusable.

The most frustrating part was being offered, in writing, a full refund or replacement, only for that offer to be withdrawn a few hours later. The company then relied on an expired warranty despite the repeated issues.

I've now lodged a complaint with NSW Fair Trading. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Australian Computer Traders.

Lenovo Laptop is in near perfect condition with all accessories it should come with. Well packaged and fast shipping. Great price for a refurbed laptop. I had a question before purchase and it was answered inside of 24 hours.

Easy transaction at a very fair price, delivered promptly to regional Australia. Saved a drive to Sydney and a day of my life.
