Pre-ordered Christmas Turkey and Ham on the 16th September for a delivery 22nd December. Delivered by DPD as promised, minus the Ham!!

The box contained a note saying sorry we ran out!!

How about guarantee early orders the items purchased, or at least email me to say it won’t be delivered so I can make alternative arrangement so close to Christmas. Won’t be using them again!

We ordered a fair amount from them for the Xmas period. All the fresh meat was great quality and went down really well. The only issue we had was with the ready made 600g beef wellington we bought. Don't get me wrong, it tasted fine... once we'd managed to actually cook it. The cooking instructions were so wildly inaccurate and misleading that they might as well have not been included.

Here are the issues: Firstly, you can't realistically cook pastry at 160c fan and get it to go golden and crispy. It needs to be at least 180c fan. Secondly, you need to eggwash pastry before baking it, which these instructions don't tell you. Lastly, they list the amount of time it needs to be cooked for rare (20-25 mins), medium (25-30 mins), and well done (30-35 mins). Which is all when and good if all you're doing is cooking a piece of beef fillet. It takes 55 minutes cooking at at least 180c fan to get the pastry to crisp, so I don't really see the point in including these timing guidelines at all as all they do is confuse things.

Anyway, due to the terrible cooking instructions, everything else for the meal was ready about 30 minutes before the wellington was. Pretty annoying but there you go, we live and learn. So, if you're planning on buying the beef wellington (which as I said, is really nice once it's cooked), just be aware that the instructions are very, very wrong lol.

If I was just judging the food quality, delivery, and service it would easily have been a 5* review. Had to knock a point off for the poor instructions though.

We were informed late into the afternoon of the 22nd of December that our delivery 23rd December wouldn't arrive until the 24th due to a mechanical fault with one of the delivery vehicles, surprised no back up vehicles, which meant our travel arrangements had to be changed. Then when the delivery arrived, two items were missing, no e-mail to let us know, so I could go out and replace them, the e-mail of the refund and missing items came after the delivery. Then I found that the chicken stock was leaking. I spent a lot if money for a substandard delivery with no offer to at least refund my delivery charge. So that is why I have given a poor review for a poor service. I wish I had gone elsewhere

You have ruined my Christmas you only had the 20th for delivery I tried to book the 22nd but when ordering your Web page said I could only book the 20th of December you sent me 10 packs of sausage meat out of date on the 23rd of December full well knowing it was a Christmas order and six packs of sausages witch is £100 I spent £250 with Dorset meat company why I emailed you three times but you would not help me to return the last three years I have spent in the region of £350 first year I purchased a extra large turkey crown and you deliverd a small turkey which I could not feed a family of 12 second year I purchased the largest turkey you have and it did not arrive after spending £350 so stressed I had to telephone you to correct it second time I did not think it would be once bitten twice shy but here I am again with out of date ten packs sausage meat and six packs of sausage which I have lost £100 I will never buy of your company again thanks for the help you gave me which was none

Personal experience: Impressed with the quality of the meat. Fed up with the lack of quality from my local supermarket. Late in the day I know. The dice beef (slow cooked) melted in the mouth. Steak was so tender, proper steak. The beef mince was real mince, cooked well and delicious. Both deliveries I had in the last week went without issues. DPD were excellent, on time even though they must be extremely busy leading up to Christmas. Looking forward placing regular orders.

Would give zero stars if I could. Ordered a shoulder of mutton in November for delivery on 16th of December.
They rang me pm on the 15th to say they could not fulfil the order. I'm absolutely furious, family Christmas dinner in disarray. What is the point of ordering and paying early. Will not be using ever again

A non meat eater I buy for family and initially chose this company as it is not halal meat.
My goodness I’m glad I did. I have even sampled it! The meat arrives well packaged and is easily popped into the freezer. It is top class meat, family views are that it is “delicious, tender, nice flavour, waterless bacon, sausages and chicken”.
Customer service is excellent.

I have had a good few conversations, with the Dorset Meat Company, in person or by email and found everyone friendly, helpful with good product knowledge. They knew there was a problem with one of my orders which was completely out of their control and by the time I called them it had been resolved. They have always been honest on the rare occasion if a problem has occurred. I have found that the staff will always do their best to keep me informed going to the next level to source a product if required. We mainly buy free range chicken and Christmas produce all of which has been delicious. Packaging is really good with lots of ice packs and contents arrive in excellent condition. I have no concerns after two and a half years of monthly deliveries. (approx.). Jay.

I used this company a few times and their products ia good quality. But my last order was sent to wrong address. I am on their system and if I only put my name, all address comes automaticly .When I contacted them about this problem , they cut off my email. Not a good experience. I will not use them again.

Having just taken delivery of our meat which was well packed and on time we decided to have the chicken for dinner today.
I have never seen so much fluid? come out of a chicken when cooked,the taste was very poor and if this is free range it has put me off and made me fearful about the rest of the meat,but we will see.

First time using and thoroughly pleased with the produce. Venison sausages and mince were top quality. All excellently packaged. Highly recommend!!

First time using the company . Very easy to order and delivery was on time Well packed box arrived with ice packs.
We ordered the chicken and mushroom pie, it was delicious and very tasty.
We do have good local butchers near us who sell pies and I must say these pies were tastier . We will definitely re order

3 orders made. 2 late. 1 didn't turn up. DHL say they attempted but access blocked. No such issue, just liars.

The food is cool when delivered on time. Can't see it being the case of they actually bother bringing it today. Its already 1 day older than it should be by the time it gets to me, again, my problem, not DHL or dorsetmeatcompany, my problem.

So, delivery not made, lied and made excuses.

Now dorsetmeatcompany are asking DHL the favour of priority delivery, which I'm still waiting for confirmation of.

Total jokers.

The correct response would be, "very sorry that our courier lied, we take this very seriously. In order to make it up to you, a fresh box will be despatched today and we will be letting DHL know that lying to out customers is not something that we will stand for on any day, please be assured that this matter is taken very seriously."

Try harder.

i wanted a proper piece of beef for a special meal so i ordered a rib of beef and i was blown away by the quality, taste and texture. i cooked it as suggested by DMC and it was perfect. order was well packaged and still fridge cold when i opened it. excellent meat and an easy ordering system. go on treat yourself and your dinner guests too

Five starts for customer service by the Dorset Meat Co, after DHL delivered my order very late.
Special mention for Leigh, who was considerate and sympathetic in dealing with my call about the issue, called DHL and emailed me with an update, and arranged a replacement without a quibble. I would use this company again without hesitation.

Just had to throw away my evening meal. Diced Lamb stew. The lamb was awful, chewy, grisly and tasted horrible. Never had diced lamb like it. Asda frozen diced lamb is so much better and we thought buying a meat box would be better quality. Shame as the lamb joints were lovely. Won’t be buying again from Dorset meat company. Bought end of April and been in my freezer.
