About six months ago I bought 2 LaCie Rugged, because a long time ago I had a good experience with it. Now, the disk unexpectedly disappeared from my computer, I lost all my content. I sent it to their "expert" data recovery, which is a long process and gave zero results... The data is gone, all my work for the last six months, all lost... I am NEVER buying any of their products, never again

3 x Rugged Drives failed and 1 x 2 Big RAID Drive failed
I recovered the HDDs from the LaCie enclosures and they were ok. It is the LaCie part of the equation which is wrong. I would say with LaCie Drives it is not a question of if but more of when. The 2 Big was about 3 years, the rugged drive failures vary from 3 months to 5 years. One of the rugged drives was a friend who I recommended to, I am embarrassed. I have other drives which are going strong after 10 years.

Bought this hard drive because it was advertised as plug-in-and-use. I've used troubleshooting, watched videos, blahblahblah, then wobbled my head: it's not plug in and go. It's a way to take money from people and send them a lump of useless stuff.

The amount of raw materials, plastic, metal, cardboard, paper wasted on this thing, the production and admin staff, wasting their lives on this rubbish when they could be spending time with their families . . . Do. Not. Buy.

I brought a 5 TB external hard drive. But at 64 I was unsure how to use this item. So I called LaCie support. I asked if had do anything with my hard drive before uploading my entire photo library to it? They said just plug it in and off you go. Thanks.

I called LaCie back a fews days later as I was unable to use the hard drive. I was informed I had to call Apple, yes my thoughts to. Why can't LaCie help me with their own product!!! Because they messed up and were not willing to admit it!!!

So the reason it won't work is because it's setup in ExFat and not APFS or Mac OS Extended (Journalled).

But one thing you can be sure of is this, if I have lost all of my images because of your staff members total incompetence I will be seeking compensation, and I have already spoken with my legal team regarding this issue. Apple are will to send an email regarding this situation that I find myself in.

But whenever I find that I am dealing with an issue I don't understand with my laptop or hardware I always call the company for support. But it is clear to me that LaCie doesn't care at all!

And what's even more shocking is the dreadful amount of negative reviews, don't you care?

1Tb Lacie Rugged Pro, die 500 Euro gekostet hat-nach 5 Monaten kaputt. Der Service von Seagate- eine Katastrophe. Antwortszeit- mind. eine Woche, man wird mit Vorschlägen von angeblichen Fehlerbehebungen bombardiert um eine Rücksendung zu verweigern.

I've had 3 Lacie Porsche hard drives since 2012 & each one has completely failed losing years of data in the process. Lacie's "token" customer service is also as ineffective.
Completely avoid Lacie, they are above & beyond, utterly useless.

Détenteur d'un 4BigQuadra, les disques sont morts les un après les autres (c'est l'usure et la vie). Ce qui est moins cool, c'est quand des disques de rechange (même capacité, même format), formatés au préalable, semblent faire bugger l'ensemble : diodes bleues sur tous les disques en façade arrière et gros macaron rouge devant. Le support est injoignable (j'ai attendu 2 x 45 minutes -je connais la musique par coeur), écrit via le formulaire : rien après 10 jours. J'ai eu un plus petit disque LaCie qui est également tombé en rade après à peine 2 ans d'utilisation pas du tout intensive (c'était mon backup).
Pour résumer : joli design et beaucoup de marketing mais fiabilité et surtout support pas du tout au rendez-vous. Dommage.

Incompetent sums it up. Like others, if I could give less than one star I would. Telephone support is non existent as the phone isn't even picked up so I resorted to email.
I asked a question regarding procedure around upgrading my RAID array to a larger capacity as one of my drives had failed. After days of asking to verify serial numbers on drives and then the Lacie unit itself (when they realised they hadn't been clear that is was the unit they needed the serial number for - funny when it is all on my account?) they then just referred me to a list of compatible drives which I had found myself days before and wasn't the question I asked at all! So the only positive is I know what company I won't be dealing with again and, at worst I have a very pretty aluminium doorstop when the unit itself fails.

If I could give less than 1 star, I would. I’ve never had such a poor, unresponsive, and unhelpful customer support experience from any company, EVER. Avoid purchasing any LaCie, or Seagate products at all costs. It will cost you more money and time to deal with their bogus warranty, or sub quality hardware.

Unbelievably bad hardware. I can't image how much frustration everyone must have with this company, but the reviews on here certainly help...
How can a company provide such poor quality, slow drives?
ANY external 2TB HDD you can get off Amazon WILL be faster than a LaCie drive.....
It's like when marketing and branding DO NOT match with the product capabilities. This makes me ask myself - what is it about orange?

LaCie should make it clear to people that the device purchased at great expense MUST be backed up!

False advertising is at play!

2-year warranty needs to be BOLD.

People have faith that they can store items of great value.

Then one day without hardly any use over 5 years the item is dead and everything is gone.

It's like a burglary, no wonder your name has the word 'experiment' in it. Large Area Crop Inventory Experiment, yes of my data! Then you have to recover MY DATA.. if you can so yes you will have a large area crop on YOUR DATA base and no longer my personal files!
Should have just used the cloud if I wanted a lack of privacy and not paid ridiculous prices to back up, when clearly it's not back up, its rip off!

This is a shame!

Achat d'un Rugged Raid Shuttle 8TB pour servir de sauvegarde TimeMachine en Raid 1 = expérience client nulle.
- Toolkit ne se charge pas. Motif "Connexion lente ou pas de connexion. Veuillez vous connecter à internet". Vous ne savez pas si Toolkit se charge quand même ou pas. J'ai chargé avec cette connexion Mac OS Monterey !!! Problème identique en partage de connexion iPhone
- RAID Manager inutilisable. Il est indiqué de donner des autorisations d'accès à l'app Marvell dans Préférences/Confidentialité, sauf que ce nom n'apparait pas.
Fini le temps, avant le rachat par Seagate, ou LaCie, entreprise indépendante, avait un parcours client de qualité. Obligation d'appeler le support pour espérer pouvoir se servir du produit !!!

A new word for worthless rubbish. I had two of these highly rated back up drives within 3 days. Ok if the first one fails to even connect I ask for a replacement. But the 2 out of 2 fail. How does this brand have any value. It was guaranteed for 3 years and it didn’t even plug and play. LaCie = straight to landfill!

Just like everyone else has said, this Lacie drive (LaCie Mobile Drive 4TB External Hard Drive USB-C Lacie) continuously disconnects without even moving it, has a poor quality cable, etc. After only 2 months of use, my computer won't recognize the drive. I bought this via Apple thinking it was a vetted and good product. Lacie customer service is worthless - they barely can speak English. 1st they said that it was a faulty cable which I replaced, but resulted in the same problem. Now they say the warrant requires me to send unit back (at my cost) and will be 2 weeks to replace it. Now over 6 weeks without backup! NEVER, NEVER buy Lacie!!
