I cannot recommend Halton Stairlifts highly enough. From the initial consultation through to installation, the service was exceptional. The team was friendly, professional, and clearly experienced, making the whole process straightforward and stress-free.
Our installation was particularly challenging, but nothing was too much trouble. The engineers approached every obstacle with confidence and expertise, finding solutions where others may have struggled. Their workmanship was excellent, and the finished result exceeded our expectations.
The cost was also very competitive and represented fantastic value for money, especially considering the complexity of the installation and the high standard of service provided.

🚨🚨🚨As well as B Jackson (4 days ago) our family have also fallen victim to the "buy back" service. We had a stairlift fitted 4 months ago for my elderly father & paid upwards of £4000. Unfortunately he has now had to go into a Nursing home ( most of the last 4 months has been spent in hospital) so I requested a "buy back". We were offered £512 !!!
Other options offered was remove it yourself & sell it on.
Obviously this is an absolute disgrace considering it had hardly been used but we were left with no choice.
🚨🚨🚨🚨ANYONE THINKING OF USING THIS COMPANY PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THEM THE OPPORTUNITY TO RIP YOU & YOUR FAMILY OFF IN THIS WAY 🚨🚨🚨🚨Halton stairlifts, you should be ashamed.

The curved stairlift was fully fitted in January 2026 according to the agreed specifications. When you requested its removal, we made you a buy-back offer, which you accepted. To provide some context on our pricing, our buy-back offers are typically based on a 12.5% return, as our company operates on an average 20% margin once all business overheads are covered. Following your acceptance, our team professionally dismantled and removed the entire system as agreed.
As a business, our final pricing and the buy-back offer must reflect the significant overheads involved in these dual operations. This includes the specialized engineering labour required for both the initial custom fitting and the subsequent removal, alongside transit and operational costs. Furthermore, because a curved rail is custom-built for your specific staircase, the unit must go through our strict and rigorous reconditioning process before any parts can be utilized.
While customers always retain the option to sell their equipment privately to maximize their financial return, we provided a hassle-free, professional removal and purchase service that was fully agreed upon prior to the work being carried out.
We strongly dispute any comment suggesting you were "ripped off." Our terms were clear, transparent, and fairly reflect the extensive professional service executed by our team from start to finish.

Be careful with their after service
This review is on behalf of my Mum, Margaret Street….
Haltons appeared to offer a very good service at the 'selling' stage of the process of purchasing my stair lift, however, this soon changed when, only 18 months after installation, the lift stopped working. Their call out charge and charges for parts and labour are astronomical, and the repairs on two occasions failed to solve the issue. I was told I needed new batteries on the 2nd visit, despite having new batteries fitted only a few weeks prior. The lift failed after 1 day on the first repair, and the company still wanted to charge me again when they returned to allegedly correct the issue. I now have a stair lift that does not work at all.
Out of principle, I refuse to use Haltons. I'd rather do without than be taken advantage of again by them.

Thank you for your feedback. We take all customer comments seriously and always aim to provide a high standard of service. Having investigated the history of Mrs. Street’s stairlift, we would like to clarify the service records, as they do not align with the details mentioned in your review.
The stairlift was installed in November 2024 and came with a full 12-month warranty. We received no reports of any faults during this entire 12-month period.
In November 2025, when the warranty expired, we sent a service contract letter to offer ongoing maintenance, which was declined. As a result, the stairlift has not received any routine servicing or maintenance, which is vital for the smooth running of the lift and is a major contributing factor to the recent issues.
Our subsequent visits were as follows:
• April 2026 (Out of Warranty): We attended a chargeable call-out because the lift had been left off-charge, causing the batteries to go flat. We replaced the batteries and left the lift fully operational.
• April 2026 (Complimentary Visit): We returned shortly after to replace the charge pins. To be helpful, we did this entirely free of charge. Our engineer's report from this visit contains no mention of a second set of batteries being required or fitted.
• Late May 2026: We received a report of another issue. Because the lift was out of warranty and did not have a service contract, we advised that a call-out charge would apply. We received no further communication from you after this.
We never wish to leave a customer with a lift that isn't working, and we are more than happy to help get the lift back in service. However, because the lift is out of warranty and has missed its routine maintenance, further visits are chargeable.

Ripped off and robbed, so disappointed
Unfortunately, this is a not a very nice review. We had the stairlift fitted for my husband last month (which was fine), however sadly my husband passed only 9 days after the stairlift was fitted, and he barley got to use it.
In the contract, the "Buy Back" service was mentioned, however when I enquired about this after my husband's passing, I was only offered £780 for the stairlift when it cost us thousands.
I was absolutely appalled and disgusted at the amount that was offered to me. We spent our hard earned savings on getting this stairlift as my husband could no longer get up the stairs due to a chronic lung disease, for which he also needed oxygen. Therefore, we had no choice but to buy this stairlift, and now unfortunately, we have lost thousands of pounds.
I never would have chosen Halton Stairlifts if I had know this was going to happen, as it was never explained to me how much I would get back.
I am sad and heartbroken at this outcome and would've expected better, especially based on their 5 star reviews.

While we entirely empathize with how frustrating the financial outcome feels under these tragic circumstances, we must respectfully and firmly dispute the comments that you were 'ripped off and robbed.' We pride ourselves on our transparency and integrity, and we want to share exactly how these costs are structured.
The stairlift provided for your husband was a fully fitted curved product. Unlike standard straight lifts, a curved stairlift requires a rail engineered specifically to the exact millimetre and unique angles of your staircase.
To ever be re-used, this curved rail requires an extensive process of specialist stripping and engineering refurbishment, which incurs significant costs.
Furthermore, the initial purchase price must cover the day-to-day operational costs of running our business, including specialist engineering labour, transport, strict safety testing, and taxes. After these heavy overheads are met, our company operates on an average net profit margin of 20%. In our buy-back offer to you, we calculated that entire 20% margin and offered to return it to you in full—meaning our company has retained absolutely zero profit from this situation.
To provide an alternative solution, our engineers have already safely removed the lift, and we offered you a professional removal and storage option. This would have allowed you to hold onto the asset for future use or to arrange a private sale, but this option was declined.
We always aim to handle delicate situations with the utmost fairness and compassion. While we are deeply saddened that your husband was able to use the lift for only a short time, our offer represents a complete return of our earnings on the project, meaning we have absorbed the unrecoverable manufacturing, labour, and refurbishment costs ourselves.
We wish you and your family comfort and peace during this incredibly difficult time.
