I can’t thank Yvonne, a Community Engagement Assistant from the L11 Community Engagement team at Cats Protection, enough for the incredible support she provided during such a critical time.

After taking in a stray cat, Chase, we reached out to Cats Protection for help with neutering. To our amazement, Yvonne called within an hour and arrived at our home soon after. Not only did she ensure Chase received everything he needed, but she also saved my dog’s life.

Maisie was gravely ill, and after our vet told us she wouldn’t survive the operation she desperately needed, we had lost hope. Thanks to Yvonne’s quick thinking and recommendation, we had a vet who could treat her. Without her advice, Maisie might not be here with us today.

Yvonne’s kindness, expertise, and genuine care went above and beyond. We will never be able to thank her enough for what she did. She is an absolute lifesaver, and we are forever grateful for her compassion and dedication.

We registered with this centre to adopt kittens after our cat of 17 year went over his rainbow bridge. My sons this time each wanted a kitten of their own.
I was rung back within a couple of days to run through the adoption form by Joe who gave the next steps and said they would be in contact as and when something suitable came up. Luckily for us a pair of kittens came up quickly and we went to meet them. the staff were very welcoming and allowed the boys enough time with the kittens (although they would have liked more). We decided to go ahead and adopt and were given information to take away so we could get prepared. The adoption forms themselves threw up some queries as the information didnt mirror what i had been told when we met the kittens the first time. However, I was able to get this clarified with Sally when we picked up the kittens, who are now settling in well to their new home. I've been able to get advice since we got them home as well which has been helpful.

I recently called the main phone line of Cats Protection for some advice on rehoming or integrating a street cat. The lady I spoke to was incredibly helpful, patient with me as we went through both options in detail, and gave me lots of wonderful and practical advice throughout the conversation.

name right, it felt like an interrogation
I am disappointed, I am trying to rehome kittens, when time is right but as I have a 21 years young adult cat family member, who is very active and does not show or act his age, was told this would normally not be allowed because of his age.
I have consulted at length with my vet over this and she is fully supportive that a pair of kittens would be ideal, Ozzy can interact with them and when he has had enough they have each other.
But was told they would considerit it but' you will be put in a folder'
on a waiting list, lots of people want kittens.
I have been a dog warden and fostered many rescued cats and dogs with issues,as I explained and although I have an elderly cat he is in an really good condition, very agile and mobile, plays most of the day.
Really disappointed by Cat Protection's attitude, my vet is happy to act as a reference for me but, sadly I will be buying from a private buyer after that
experience, I have always rehomed and never brought from private buyers because of the all horror stories I have heard but I will have to take my chances.

So, I've unfortunately had to give two of my cats up to York cats protection due to my financial situation which is already a heart breaking thing to come to and the manager of the place was quite rude. I understand I was a little late with passing one of the cats over (due to crash today traffic was bad) and I understand they're a charity that run on donations but the way this manager spoke to me was unprofessional and just disgusting. He asked me the usual line of if I'd like to donate I said unfortunately I can't and then continued to ask me if the person that dropped me off would be willing as they've taken two cats from me and it's costs money to keep them, I said unfortunately not today and then continues by saying well we do have an online link that you can donate to. I reluctantly took the slip out of being pressured into it and made me feel so horribly bad that I couldn't afford to donate nevermind keep my own cats due to money issues. I've been in the customer service industry for years and it's not acceptable to peer pressure people into doing something they can't do then them making you feel awful for not being able to. Then he continued by saying that he'd sent me an email with the same link (without asking my permission first)

The CHARITY COMMISSION governs Cats Protection, it is registered under the numbers 203644.
After reading the very bad reviews, I also decided not to give donations , even though I love cats very much. I would also like to suggest that people write their complaints to address given, (For reporting wrongdoing),not just to the Trustpilot. I think such charities do more harm than good.

We recently adopted 2 cats from Cats Protection in Northampton. With help from a lovely lady on the phone we found our beautiful Bella and Rosie. Very quick response although if you are
looking for kittens they do understably seem to get picked first. Please don't rule out older cats who need a home and are just as adorable! Thank you to Darren for fostering them for us.

I have had 6 beautiful kittens from Boston cat protection. They have all crossed the rainbow bridge now. They all lived to 16/17 years except for 2 who were 20 and 21 years. I have saved a few puss cats with Bostons help. I've got traps off of them and caught cats that needed medical treatment. CP took them straight to the vet. Excellent people.

These people don't respond to the requested online applications,but decided instead to put the cat we were interested in as " reserved", three days after our application! And even though we are an adult only household who raised two lovely cats to 18 years old,they both had been from terrible homes and were traumatised but slowly became the lovely,gentle animals they really were after years of love and patience from us,yet we STILL were not good enough for CP. Am beginning to wonder if they really have any cats or the whole set up is just a scam for money,with random pictures of cats taken from magazines! Will be going elsewhere

Give pepper and ginger back to their rightful owner !!! Mersey side cat protection have separated them it’s heart breaking and won’t give them back !!! It’s theft

Only one of their staff has been “nice” the rest have been snotty jobsworths. I volunteered but withdrew because the management culture is poor, even during an interview the line manager failed to make eye contact just wrote notes leaving the questions to someone else. I have worked with other animals charities happily for over 20 years, but cats protection culture is unbearable.

I have had 3 cats from cats protection in st Helen’s. 1st 12 years ago and most recent 2020 at the start of the pandemic. We have had a brilliant experience every time. My daughter always went for the older or imperfect cats. Everyone special and a great addition to our family.
Can’t praise the center enough

I've donated every month for years and am now cancelling it due to the abysmal response of my local CPL. I've always had rescue cats over the years but am peed off with the rude, arrogant, patronizing attitude of the volunteers who forget that they are a charity and putting supporters off!!

We were looking for a new young cat and got a phonecall re a kitten , Evelyn at cats protection Glasgow was amazing and so friendly ,the adoption was easy and straightforward and chewie has been happily living with us for almost 2 years ago 💕

I fostered 5 cats over a couple of years for a couple of weeks at a time as respite for their carers and was really impressed by the love, care and attention they received from Cats’ Protection.. The last cat I fostered ended up staying an extra week and he was such a delight that I ended up buying him. A wonderful organisation!

I'm very disappointed with my experience with cats protection, in Devon. After putting in multiple applications for young cats and being rejected, because someone else had shown interest first, I finally got an email about a 6 month old that I had applied for, the day he came on the site. We talked on the phone and everything was apparently good. We had previous experience with cats, a good garden, no other pets, someone always at home,
only children around visited once a week and not a rental. We arranged a meeting for Monday at 11am, but Sunday at 4pm we received a call, saying there was an issue. Apparently, our house was close to where the kitten had previously lived and they were worried about him getting confused once outside. They apologised for not catching this information sooner but considering I have an email, from a previous attempted adoption where they admit to looking at my garden on Google maps, I'm rather surprised at this lack of knowledge about my location. They obviously couldn't say where the previous owners lived but this argument didn't make any sense. I told them that he wouldn't be let out without a lead for another 2 months, by which time any scent markers would be gone with the elements and given his age he should acclimatise rather quickly. They said the just wouldn't house a cat anywhere close to a previous home and said they had to cancel the meeting. They said the only other cat available that was suitable was an old female, estimated in the double digits of age, which is surprising considering how many criteria we met. We said that we weren't interested in her as for one she was far older then we wanted and two we felt that the centre was being rather cruel in their actions. One day we will get another cat but it will not be through these people, who have a ridiculous number of rules in order to take care of an animal who would be wanted and loved.

I every one I Ave give to them 2 stray cats I wass luck after for more the one year becouse I im very sick whyd cancer and I Ave done big surgery, any way they never contact me to leet me no watt happen to them , very disappointing

Reading these comments has me worried.
I've got an adoption going with them if I die and was just phoning to get a new kitten spayed but automated message said no more help this year and my vets want 140 pounds to do it.
I've come across other big charities recently where they are less than bothered about animals and treat people who are hurting rather dismissively.
Reading these comments has me asking is it worth having an end of life adoption if so many area seems to be saying how dreadful condition are for adoption of cats.
Now I've got to pay out of my disability to spay a kitten because it seems they'd rather let them have 10 kittens than prevent it from happening.
Sadly charities have gone down hill so much over the years.

After hundreds of questions to check my ability to look after a cat(not a baby) .I made an appointment to view a cat. The day of this had terrible traffic thru York so I called to re-arrange, had to deal with an extremely bossy woman on the phone. The appointment was re-arranged for the following sun. This day had a storm in York with high winds & torrential rain. I got the bus right across town & got to the cat shelter 15mins early.An extremely rude man didn’t want to let me inside as I was too “early” literally expected me to stay out in the storm .He said that’s what appointments are for .I explained that I used the bus & had done my best with the timing. He begrudgingly let me into his office out of the storm ,I was so angry by this point that I left .I won’t bother with this charity ever again- and I feel sorry for the cats!
