I was using Relative Connections to trace my natural father then all of a sudden I cannot get through to the company, which appears to have shut down as telephone answer messages aren't responded to, email's have no response and the website is down. How they can close without giving their customers notice or refunds is beyond me.

This is so tough to write a negative review as Amanda our intermediary was so attentive and a lovely person to talk too and we were so happy to have her onboard looking after us . Unfortunately since she left the company in March ( we were sad to hear she was leaving ) we have received no communication from anyone which has been so disappointing. We are now in limbo not knowing what to do next . Customer service is absolutely shocking and its impossible to speak to anyone .

I’m disappointed with my experience and feel it’s important to share this for others considering using this service.

While I appreciate that some level of effort may have gone into the investigation, the outcome and overall handling of my case have been extremely frustrating. On two separate occasions, I was told that requests had been submitted to Malta for my grandfather’s birth certificate and they were waiting for the document to be received ( with emails to support this). Naturally, this led me to believe that records had been located or that there was at least a strong lead being pursued.

However, I’ve now been told that nothing was found and that the search cannot continue. This is not only disheartening but also feels misleading given the earlier assurances. It raises serious concerns about the transparency and accuracy of the process from the beginning.

Communication throughout has been very poor. Updates were infrequent, emails often went unanswered, and calls were not returned. This lack of responsiveness was even acknowledged by a member of the team, I believe was the manager, which makes the experience even more disappointing.

I do understand that some records may no longer exist or were never properly documented. However, given the time taken and the amount of money spent, I would expect a much clearer explanation of what research was actually carried out. I would also appreciate proper clarification regarding the earlier submissions to Malta, as this may help explain where the process reached its limits.

At present, the overall experience feels extremely unsatisfactory and, unfortunately, leaves me questioning the value and integrity of the service provided.

After much deliberation and having reassuring conversations and Jacob Thackray, I finally agreed to proceed. My caae was then handed over to Amanda Harrison. Having been told that contact by phone with the person whom I was trying to locate had not been possible, I was advised that a monthly letter would be sent out to him. That was approx 6-8 weeks ago. Despite numerous emails and a telephone call, asking for an update, I have heard NOTHING. As a senior citizen, I was really hoping that my money had not been given in vain. Sadly, it appears that I have lost my money and their total disregard of peoples emotional cost is a blatant scam. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Contacted this company and spent 1400 to trace my brother. I did half of the legwork for them. After chasing every update or lack of updates with them, I discovered Amanda has left who I was liasing with. Amanda was going to try and make telephone contact, now she has left I am left in limbo. Website is down, left several messages to be contacted, no attempt has been made to call me back. Shocking service, or lack of. Do not waste your money!

I initially used Relative Connections to search for my birth mother. They successfully found her and confirmed who I thought it was, however they have since not responded to any of my emails or calls regarding taking the next step. It’s appalling to leave clients in limbo like this, especially with such sensitive matters. I don’t know if the company has gone under as the website is no longer there. I’m just grateful I didn’t make the payment for the final step.

Please do not touch this company, if possible I would not even give them a star.
They have £998 of my money under false pretences.
They have consistently ignored emails and phone calls and have not been transparent with information.
I found an email from Ryan
to say they had not been able to find any information, they hope I was happy with this outcome and have closure and they have closed the investigation.
I have no evidence they have done any investigation at all.
They have not replied to my emails following this and despite numerous attempts at phoning, have not answered the phone.

I emailed to ask for a refund or I will be taking legal action if I have not heard from them in 14 day.

I followed the email with a recorded letter, sent to their registered address as all other avenues of communication have failed.It has not been delivered or been refused, stating on tracking they are no longer registered at the address.

Companies House states they are registered at this address.

The Website no longer exists nor do any social media accounts.

The phone rings but is not answered and there is no option to leave a message, not that they have ever responded to one!

They have previously changed the name of the company,

Reading through reviews, I am not the only person who has recently been treated like this.

I am sharing my experience to warn others about a company called Relative Connections.

I contacted them while trying to locate a family member, whom I had not been in contact with for many years. After several email exchanges and a phone call, I was asked to make an initial payment, which I paid by credit card.

A few days later, I was told they had located my family member, and I was asked to pay a further amount. However, double the amount was taken from my card without my consent. When I questioned this, I received no explanation.

Since then, the company has stopped responding completely. Their website is no longer available, their phone numbers do not work, and they have ignored all of my emails, letters, and formal complaints. I have not received any invoices or proof of service.

I have reported this matter to the relevant authorities, including the police, Action Fraud, and Trading Standards, and investigations are ongoing.

Based on my experience, I would strongly advise others to exercise extreme caution before engaging with this company. Police are well aware of this company and their team. They are clearly exploiting people who are vulnerable and looking for their loved ones.
This company is clearly falsifying the positive reviews.

Relative Connections have been very helpful, but unfortunately I am not being able to get through to them via their phone numbers and I am not getting a response via email currently.

After after spending over a grand with relative connection ive tried ringing them loads of times but no ansewer left messages no one gets back to you this company are shocking take your money then you dont hear from them im now thinking it a scam so ill be lokking into reporting them

I paid them £600 to find my birth certificate which thay said they could do. i rang them on the monday paid £299. they rang me on the fri saying they have found it so i had to pay another £299. he didn't even ask my address where to send it but was quick to take my money. i have never recived my birth certificate after numerus calls so i think this company is a scam thay have been reported for fraud

I wasn't sure if this would work. After all it was 1968 since I last saw the person that I wanted. Relative connections were brilliant. Found her, sensitively connected us back together. We're emailing now.
All contacts at RC were super.
Worth every penny.

Relative Connections becomes ex connections after you give them your money, you cant get any replies or contact whatsoever, I don't believe a reliable company worth their salt would completely disappear after they get your hard earned cash, in fact I would doubt if they are still in business ,.Take care this Leeds based company do not take credit or debit cards it is pathetic to not be able to contact any company just because they have got your money...its a Gotcha situation! Beware!

I am estranged from my two daughters due to a messy divorce from a violently aggressive ex-husband, and I contacted Relative Connections last year in the hope that they could help me reconnect with my daughters. At that time Relative Connections told me that they would only be able to trace my eldest daughter as the younger was under the age of 18, and due to Relative Connections high costs, I chose to use another service, that other service successfully located my daughters. Despite knowing their location, sadly, I haven't been able to connect with my daughters. Relative Connections continued to contact me regularly via email, explaining their extensive services and eventually, desparate to contact my daughters, the youngest was now 18+, I replied back to them. A telephone meeting was arranged by Relative Connections during which they explained an impressive range of services and their experienced staff, to reach out to my daughters to re-connect, so impressive and so assuring, that despite the initial cost being high, we decided to engage their services. I was surprised that, having paid the initial payment, I didn't receive any further calls or correspondence to discuss details, e.g., I already had the address from my previous searches. Many attempts to call Relative Connections yielded an engaged tone, but my emails went unanswered. To my complete surprise a week later I received an email from Relative Connections simply saying that they had attempted to locate my older daughter, no mention at all of my younger daughter, and that completed their service to me (goodbye). My friend in South Africa decided to do a simple search for my daughters, and within 15 minutes had located my older daughter on instagram and confirmed she is still living in the same town. Relative Connections had obviously not read any of my emails and fallen well short of reasonable expectations. None of their initial promises were fulfilled, and I can only say they took my money and ran. If you engage their services, get ready to flush your money down the pan along with your mental health!

I can’t thank the team at relative connections enough. From the first call everyone was so helpful and understanding . My mother age 85 had never known who her natural father was. A war baby she was raised by her grandparents. She had always longed to have a name at least to know where her dna came from.
We were sceptical at first but within days John had identified over 100 possible matches. 3 months later he had narrowed it to 2 potential men . 6 months later not only did he have a name but a dba match to siblings of my mother from her fathers line. Exceeding our expectations we never dreamt of this outcome. It is already life changing. We can’t recommend them enough. If you are considering them just do it you won’t regret it.

No duty of care. This is the company to use if you want to find someone you have abused. This company gave an abuser details of where person he abused lived. The person they gave details to is on police bail for rape and cohersive control

I highly recommend Relative Connections. They have been absolutely fantastic in helping me reunite with my birth parents and family, parents who last saw me 44 years ago. Every person I interacted with at the company was extremely friendly and helpful, showing genuine care and interest in helping me with my case. It has been a very emotional and life changing experience, and I will never forget the names of the people who helped me.

The relative in question was found quickly. While the result was not what I had hoped, the company had dealt with the process very well. I can certainly recommend them.

I initially made and an enquiry to Relative Connections early summer last year. They were very good at first and found out details of my biological mother q very uickly and called me to let me know. However it then went silent for a while I did chase them up didnt hear anything for allong time. I gave up hope in finding my mum and felt very lost.However early January this year I got email and call from Amanda to explain she took up my case and sent a letter just before xmas to biological mum. I was in total shock to find out after 33 years apart my mum wanted to meet me. On 3rd February I finally got to meet her. Unfortunately she has health issues but doesnt matter. It would have been nice to have seen her last year as she only received the letter at Xmas. However we had a lovely afternoon and have been talking ever since on the phone. I am truly grateful for Amanda to picking up my case and working her magic.
The missing peace of the jigsaw is now complete.

Although the outcome was not what I had hoped for, Amanda handled my situation with great sensitivity, honesty, and compassion. She made every possible effort to help establish a connection with my daughter and kept me fully informed at each stage. Her advice was thoughtful and realistic, and she took the time to explain things clearly while always being supportive and understanding of how difficult this process was for me as a parent.

What stood out most was Amanda’s personal approach , she never treated me like just a case number. Her reassurance, empathy, and willingness to listen made a very painful situation easier to cope with, and I genuinely felt supported even after the formal service had ended.

I would highly recommend Relative Connections to anyone considering this type of service. They act professionally, ethically, and with real care for the people involved. Even when contact isn’t possible, they handle things with dignity and respect, which means a great deal.
