Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, but we're sorry to say that you may've left a review for the wrong company, as BHSF do not use AI at any point during our claims process.

We're proud that all of our claims are manually assessed by human beings. However, this does regrettably mean that mistakes can happen from time-to-time, as even with 99.99% accuracy, dealing with over 1000 claims a day can result in the occasional error, which we would sincerely like to apologise for. In the rare scenario that we do make a mistake, we kindly ask Policyholders to contact us directly so we can correct it as soon as possible.

Excellent service.

Always submit my application online it’s super easy to do and always get a decision within 3-4 days. Never had a problem with any claim I’ve made. Would highly recommend this company.

Avoid and go with another company

Avoid and go with another company. I tried to claim on the Diagnostic Consultation and they refuse to pay even though I have a referral Email from a Private Consultant referring me to another specialist. Apparently it has to be a GP referral even though I had no need to go to my GP. Basically I would have wasted a GP appointment because this company won't budge. I do not see the difference between a GP or a Consultant referral, its the exact same thing. Clearly their Customer Services work from scripts and have no flexibillity. Only thing I have been able to claim on is Dental for £100 limit. Not worth the monthly fee I pay. A scam company & I will not be renewing with them next year via my Employer.

Update to response by BHSF:
I was initially assessed by a qualified medical professional. My GP referred me to a consultant last year, and I subsequently underwent surgery. Since then, I’ve experienced a couple of issues and returned to the same consultant, who has now referred me on to another specialist better suited to address them.
Given that I am already under the care of specialised consultants with much more expertise than a GP, I don’t see the value in going back to my GP and taking up their time when I’ve been directly referred by a specialist professional.

Also given that my treatment has been directed by qualified consultants, it wouldn’t have been reasonable to pause and seek your Helpdesk confirmation before proceeding. I would expect that referrals made by recognised medical professionals are sufficient to demonstrate the legitimacy and necessity of the care received.
I feel this is an example of a company finding any wat not to pay out. A little flexibillity goes a long way and would retain existing policy holders.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, and we’re very sorry to hear of your disappointment.

The T&Cs of our policies outline what the requirements are for each/ every benefit, including any exclusions. Unfortunately, we can’t cover every single product/ service/ treatment an individual can purchase in respect of their own personal wellbeing under one policy, as the monthly cost for such a plan would be exorbitant. This is why we encourage Policyholders to read their T&Cs and/ or contact us directly for guidance, if they’re looking to claim for something new.

The requirement of an initial GP referral/ recommendation proves that the Policyholder has seen a medically trained professional to begin with, who has then provided clear/ appropriate guidance on where/ who they can go to next for a more specialised/ expert opinion. This is also one of the reasons we include a GP Helpline under most of our policies, as they can provide the requisite referral/ recommendation if contacted, and save valuable NHS GP time.

In future, we’d suggest that you contact our Helpdesk directly for guidance and/ or review your policy T&Cs before committing to something you may wish to try and claim for, and we hope to be of service in future.

The website is very easy to use, especially as you can send photographs of evidence needed for claim. The message sent when the claim is received, is useful. The payment comes through really quickly. A great service.

Claims quert

I called BHSF today and spoke to Hope Daniel who was so helpful. I was calling to check on a claim I had put through. Although she could not give me an immediate answer she took my details, said she would speak to the team and then contact me. Within 10 minutes this was done and my claim is being processed.
Excellent customer service from all concerned.
She also fully answered another query I had regarding my policy.

‘Diagnostic Consultation’ is a benefit where BHSF require two extra pieces of information to assess a claim beyond the usual (e.g. the insured persons name/ the date of treatment etc.). This is why we outline exactly what is needed in our ‘Terms Of Use’ (TOU) on our Online Portal, so Policyholders can gather what they need before attempting to claim, to reduce any potential delays.

The two extra pieces of information, as stated in the TOU, are:
o The GMC number of the Consultant who conducted the consultation.
o A copy of the initial GP referral/ recommendation to the Consultant.

If you’re having any difficulty with this, or are unsure what is needed, please do not hesitate to get in touch with our Helpdesk who would be happy to offer guidance/ assistance.
