Appalling company
So my 17year old daughter applied to university and this company was recommended to her by the uni to find accommodation. She enquired about a room in a house and was told to pay a holding deposit to secure the room, despite the website stating no deposit required. She paid the deposit and was sent a contract to sign, she was reminded by email to sign the contract everyday for 6 days. Eventually she signed the contract. On results day she didn’t get the grades required to attend Lancaster university, she went through clearing and still wasn’t accepted. She emailed wearekin to advise that she wouldn’t be needing the room as she wasn’t accepted into uni. They advised she would be liable for the rent for the next 12months which equates to about £6500 unless she finds someone to take her room.
Absolutely disgusted at the way they have handled the situation, and now hounding my daughter for money she does not have for an agreement she signed when she was a child!
As if it wasn’t bad enough that she didn’t get into the uni of her choice, they are now chasing her for rent on a property she doesn’t live in, all while she is 250miles from home studying at her second choice uni, and paying rent on that property. Honestly, the amount of pressure n stress this is causing my young daughter is unimaginable.
And people wonder why so many young people suffer with mental health problems.
You’d think abit of common sense and decency would prevail. But as wearekin say ‘we are a business, we have to make money’
Oh and incase you need to contact the letting agents at wearekin, they are only contactable by email! Absolutely appalling!

Starting University can be a tremendously stressful time however we must follow a stringent process to ensure fair and equal treatment to all residents.
