Elis Chatham

Worked as a driver for Elis Chatham. One of the most poorly ran operations I've had the luxury of witnessing in any job I've ever had. Management is based upon emotion and not merit. I've was called a liar when I had to take a Saturday off due to my father having an illness. I was threatened with excessive use of power. For that saturday off I was told 'I could put you on 2 year probation if I want'. Also during that meeting, the manager had a list of every mistake I made. Simple honest mistakes, and threw them in my face, then proceeded to tell me about the same mistakes he made in the past. Simply moronic. He gets very emotional and all professionalism goes out the window. The same manager, I heard racist slurs, sexist and misogyny comments about fellow staff members. And talking behind the drivers backs, mocking them and laughing for their mistakes. The worst kind of human being on the planet by a country mile. He showed me accident videos for banter and a laugh. And when I raised a complaint with the GM. I was told it would be in confidence. I mentioned one specific thing during that conversation. And I've already heard the manager is saying it to the drivers. So, you can imagine the level of professionalism. I've had to go above Elis Chatham to the head office for my complaint because of this reason. The job is straightforward, the other drivers are good lads and help you more than management. It's paramount you consult the driver as they'll teach you how to work there, not management.

SHOCKING - Where do we start

Where do we start, so like many we were sold a great service great prices and great customer service, guess what we have received none of this after the contract was signed. To try and speak to our contact is incredibly difficult, apparently they take time away and off the telephone even though they are in the office? Missed deliveries of overalls leaving my guys without nothing in a high risk job, I cannot wait to be free from Elis, they don't care about the smaller company at all. Sales and money, of which I bet they contact us when the invoice is overdue - I will be placing this on hold until we get some kind of service!!!!

⭐ 0 Star — Poor Customer Service & Misleading Sales Pitch

I feel completely let down and cheated by this company. The sales process was smooth and persuasive — it felt like everything I needed was being promised. But once the contract was signed, everything changed.

Customer service is shockingly poor. Getting basic support requires constant chasing, repeated emails, and endless phone calls. If you’re expecting a responsive, helpful team — look elsewhere. It seems like the only time they really care is before you sign the contract.

Now I’m locked into a 2-year agreement, and it feels like I was sold a dream and handed a nightmare. I would strongly advise against signing up unless you have an incredible amount of time and patience to waste following up on issues that should be simple.

This is not a company I would recommend to anyone. Be warned: it’s a polished sales pitch up front, but the service behind it does not deliver.

Dirty company of the highest calibre…

Dirty company of the highest calibre want you slaving about like a robot the Elis in northfleet kent what a low life company sent me wrong details on p45 about 4 years ago and still haven’t amended it phoned northfleet Eli’s to get told take it up with head office head office say northfleet Eli’s as got to send them paperwork then phone Eli’s at northfleet again and they say yeah we will send it to head office still not done after 4 years going around and around in circles run by a French businessman who only cares about making he’s billions and you wonder why you are going to be joeyed about they don’t care about there employees that’s for sure rotten company

Really struggling with communication

Really struggling with communication, prices increasing, the number of items way more than expecting, sales person just gets the deal and then you never hear from them again. Feel like as a small company we are being 'bullied' by a big corporation....

Very good service

Very good service. Our account manager Daniel is very efficient, friendly and goes the extra mile to ensure all of our workwear needs are met. Would highly recommend Elise if you are looking for a workwear service.

My company has signed multiple sites…

My company has signed multiple sites contract with Elis and they did several surveys before the contract has been signed. We have explained what we would require, drop off locations, time of delivery , amount etc. When they have started delivering linen, they have refused one drop off point, delivery came after staff went home and they were not willing to adjust it by hour neither, we have asked them to not leave cages on one site because fire risk but they were doing it anyway, they didn’t provide rejected bags or labels on the first visit as they have supposed to do. Web portal didn’t work as it has been explained. My biggest problem with Elis is that it feels like they don’t even want to help customers when we have raised these issues, and they just want to do whatever is best for them so we had to adjust to it even if that has caused extra costs for us. Horrible customer service.

Told to stay after new job offer laid off.....

Had a job offer close to home more pay. They took me on I said I had another job there and they say don't go we will look after you ect tickets and long term work. After being half hr late laid off no warning and caused me to lose job closer to home, shouldn't be allowed to manage people with these ethics. Cost me a fortune and full time job....... This is a fact not fiction also told to fix cages and leave rust on not paint it which carries linen.... Havent been in touch or even paid there bill now either.......

Would recommend

We have been using the Durham site for many years now, with minimal issues. Our account manager is brilliant, very attentive and visits site every 3 months as agreed. Customer service over the phone and emails also very good. Sometimes the odd mishap occurs, but the team are very quick to respond and resolve. No complaints.

Would give 0 if possible, worst company I’ve ever had the displeasure of dealing with. I’ve had tea towels rotting in my cellar for the last 6 weeks because they don’t turn up to collect, missed sanitary bin collections, so would’ve been at least another week until they were emptied, gave a second chance as assured the service would improve but it quite clearly hasn’t, rang up asking to speak to the account manager, didn’t bother to ring back until the next day and had the most couldn’t be bothered attitude I’ve ever encountered, avoid at all costs!
