I wouldn't normally leave a review for a company like this, but this has gotten far beyond ridiculous.
The bus didn't attempt to stop at my stop after being flagged down.
(H1 leaving 9.30am from TRENTBARTON garage, 10th May 2026) This is far from fair; I have now missed the next buses and trains to my destination.
On top of this, the rudeness of the driver (about 20% of the time) makes the journeys uncomfortable, to say the least.
I don't care about lateness that's just the local traffic.
Swift buses
Swift buses - dont turn up. Unreliable most of the time. App us useless as well. I've wasted an hour waiting today.

alot of drivers are rude. ive experience a lot of drivers being rude but only one lady was nice and very accommodating. i don't like how this business just put whoever without assessing how drivers react/act to their passengers. I experience this today but also on other days that the driver didn't see my hand stopping for the bus and plus they're obliged to stop when theres someone at the bus stop. he said some foul words to me then sped up after i paid for the bus. i almost slip. im paying for your services and everyone does so shouldn't this business also focus on the drivers attitude and how they act to their passengers. some of them are getting payed just to be disrespectful in their work

What has gone wrong with the Allestree service?
I'm not sure what has happened to the Allestree service. The drivers used to be lovely but I'm afraid a lot (not all) of the current drivers are not very good. The service is meant to be every 10 mins but it fails to deliver. The buses are uncomfortable and I do not understand why they seem to treat the roads as a race track. They now race down Askerfield Avenue - often on the wrong side of the road because of parked cars - and then have to brake hard when they reach the island. I'm curious as to who is paying for this service,. The buses are often driving around empty so it is clearly not a commercial operation. Whoever is subsidising this service is wasting tax payers' money.

Inconsistent Billing and Zero Transparency
My experience with this company has been extremely frustrating. I have been repeatedly charged inconsistent amounts—sometimes 2, sometimes 3, sometimes 5.6—with no clear explanation. Despite providing an official bank receipt showing the exact dates, amounts, and the company responsible for these deductions, I was told there was no record of any of these transactions on their system.
I provided all the information they requested multiple times, yet the issue was not properly investigated and was effectively dismissed. It is unacceptable for a company to charge customers random amounts and then deny responsibility. This lack of transparency and accountability is deeply concerning.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company.
Why am I not surprised at Trent Barton…
Why am I not surprised at Trent Barton buses awful review score.
Neither am I surprised at the fact they don’t seem to care about contacting disgruntled customers to resolve the many issues listed here.
I will share my experience in any case.
Although it was my 15 year old daughter who was left stranded by a very rude driver who refused her £20 after her contact less card got rejected - probably because it was a new bank account.
Even though she had cash means to pay, the driver abruptly said “I’m not taking that!”
Bus and taxi companies are obliged to allow minors or vulnerable members of the public safe travel EVEN IF THEY DONT HAVE MEANS TO PAY!
I was furious when she finally managed to get hold of me in floods of tears and explained what at had happened.
It was one of the first times she had used a public bus by herself and this event has knocked her confidence.
What a shameful company.
Use Uber instead.
Change management and drivers!
Either don't show for 1,5 hour or a driver delays journeys on the bus for no reason. Absolutely horrible service!
Dreadful customer care…
The driver of the 2 heading towards Ilkeston just sailed past the stop and was unapologetic, rude and implied the walk would do me good (I’m 71 with an arthritic hip). I’m v angry!
The very crappy bus company...
Their buses are dirty, outdated, dusty and uncomfortable. The seats look at least 20-30 years old and are so uncomfortable. Most of the drivers seem to hate their jobs and are rude to passengers.

What time do they actually turn up?
I’ve been using their service for multiple years and I don’t think a service has ever arrived on time.
I’ve waited numerous times for over an hour plus over expected arrival time for service that has travelled 8 miles from start point.
Without government subsidies, TrentBarton would fail.
They cannot provide the service they claim to deliver.
If I could, I’d rather hop than use Trent Barton.
The 6.2 service? You stand more chance seeing Lord Lucan!
Yet again the 6.2 service is conspicuous by its absence and no reasons or excuses are given. Over the years I've sworn by Trent (later TrentBarton) buses: now I spend most of my time swearing at them!
Not fit to run a bus company
Unreliable buses due to poor maintenance. Not going to waste my time going on i just want trent barton to know i will be reporting them to the dvsa as unfit for public transportation and when they dont like what they see and they wont. I want you to know. Its me eho cost you you operating license
