3 buses going in the opposite direction… none coming the way I was going!! Waiting for a bus from Nottingham to heanor is an absolute joke… never on time! Buses missing! Live times on the website might as well not exist as there never true to how long theses buses are going to be! I would not recommend this service to anyone!!
Trentbarton useless card machine
Yet again waiting for a late bus then wouldn't let me on because of your useless card swipe machine declined, even though I have plenty of money in. 3rd time stuck with other people with the same problem, he told me to nip to a bank and get money, then why have them, what is the point of these machines if people keep facing the same problem daily, just change them for ones with a key pad if you know it's a problem, or remove them simple, now we have to be late again because he has gone, it's just worked fine now I'm on a stagecoach.
Unreliable service
Trentbartonland just isn't a reliable service for public transportation. I take the fact you get accidents on the road ,traffic ,road works but this isn't just a one off it'd all the time and always the same service and expected time. As a regular user I experience this alot
Even at 6am the bus is 5-10 minutes late . The Hugo app doesn't work so you resort to bustimes and find the bus you are waiting for is running 20 minutes late with the next one now just a couple of minutes behind. Many times 2 or 3 buses were run together there is no contingency plan

right, whoever that was driving my last bus needs to sort himself out, the bus was so full to the point i was sat on the luggage area, people were getting smacked with the doors and people could barely even pay for their ticket NOT TO MENTION SOMEONE WAS SICK IN THE BACK OF THE BUS i dont blame her bc of how full it was and how hot it was, but fk me, im still 20 mins away from home and i just got off bc hes pissed me right off and its hot and it smells like shi, FIRE THAT BASTARD

10 30am,The flyer,near the general Havelock. My husband and myself were about 10ft from the bus stop (running as fast as we could ,being pensioners and my husband with a walking stick) I put my hand out to stop the bus, the bus stops, then she looked at me ,indicates and drives off. We were on our way to the Royal Derby hospital to visit our son, who is incidentally a driver with Trent Barton. I personally don't know how this blonde haired woman sleeps at night. I could have understood it if she was running late, but she actually drove off 1 minute early.

Please do not use Skylink for a commute Derby - East Midlands Gateway. The bus that is scheduled to arrive at 4.18 at EMG is there maybe one a week if lucky which leaves people waiting for a bus for over 40 minutes every day! The morning service is usually couple of minutes late which makes me late to work every day. Nightmare!
‘The really not so good bus company’
It absolutely criminal that this company advertise themselves with the ‘really good bus company’ they are literally the polar opposite!
I am convinced their timetables are just for show and you just have to turn up at a bus stop and hope for the best and attempt to use their awful tracking app.
It doesn’t help they run services that serve several towns and villages which some routes take 1+ hours which are all served by single decks!!!
Keep seeing advertisements saying they have the best drivers in the land - I think 1 or 2 deserve this praise but the other 90% are just so rude!
The buses they keep ordering are just awful - very loud and whiny, lots of rattles and someone clever decided to put 3 skylights in which turns the bus into a greenhouse during the summer - talking of heat -also this company has a high record of bus fires so I don’t feel safe sat at the back of the bus - although to be honest I don’t get that far as never have a seat !
Their lack of communication is absolutely dreadful when it comes to roadworks or breakdowns or missing buses.
You literally have to hope for the best - other bus operators seem to know well in advance and provide diversion maps.
Trentbarton on a good day will post on Facebook that a service is diverting - no indication of where and what stops are missed ! Pot luck.
Unfortunately they have a monopoly of the areas they cover and people are forced to pay their £8+ a day tickets, about 10 years ago they had competition but Trentbarton ran them aground by lowering prices and launching a new bus service in a sisters company name (bargain bus) and offering £1 a journey.
Once the competition disappeared the low fares and extra buses also disappeared!
Customer service is none existent, they just seem to blame the depot for not telling them- so no communication or integration exists in the company.

The Rainbow One bus service is terrible. There is only 1 bus an hour where I am and it’s always late, yesterday it was 30 mins late. You absolutely cannot rely on them.
Worst company ever
Worst company ever ! Always late and many times not even showing up. Yesterday after waiting for 20 minutes when finally the bus show off the driver was driving so fast that he didn't bother to stop , even though I showed that I was asking for stop with plenty of time , he passed through the bus stop without excitation. Today once again after waiting for the bus , it did not come. I really need to find a way to get to work with another company.

We are selling the flat to move onto a Nottingham City transport route Indigo bus's 05:48 veery unreliable I called customer services for the fourth time regarding this service. All you get in response is it was taken out of service for a safety issue I asked what the safety issue was they replied its just a safety issue. So I believe the driver never turned up for their duty or they failed the breatherlizer. When Premier buses where in service every Trent barton ran. They seriously need compatisoin this company has lost all what they used to stand for now days the drivers are also unwelcomeing and can be rude not how it use to be. Congratulations yet again to this awful company on not winning bus operator of the year.

Generally unreliable
I use the i4 bus service to and from work a few times a week. The majority of drivers are grumpy and borderline rude. The timetable appears to just exist for the sake of it, they do not stick to it at all. They leave early, they come late, and often they don't come at all. They certainly do not come every 10 minutes as advertised. The newer style buses with windows on the roof were poorly thought out, in summer it effectively makes them moving greenhouses which is deeply unpleasant. They don't seem to be that well maintained and are very bumpy on the roads, so much so that it is painful on the back most days. If I had any other choice on the commute, I'd pick it over this sadly there is no competition on this route. There are one or two nice drivers who wait for you if they see you running, will smile and say hello, and let you sit down before they set off but they are few and far between.
Journey planner
The 3a bus regularly doesn't turn up, I complained and was told to use their journey planner for live busses but it regularly tells me there is no bus when there is and vice versa. As a disabled person this really restricts my freedom.
Four days in a row
Four days in a row, the bus from Eastwood (Rainbow One) either didn't turn up or was over one hour late. Two of those occasions, the Bus drivers were incredibly rude to everyone.
Reading other people's reviews and they all say the same thing, really tells me that the company doesn't care and there's no organisation that pays attention, investigates or punishes the company for failing its customers
Awful as always
Honestly the scheduling could be done better by a bunch of gerbils in a trench coat. Two busses, neither for 20 minutes, due 3 minutes apart. This is frequent too. I’ve non ever known a more disorganised and less consumer friendly company
Unkind bus driver
This happened in October 2022, but the memory has stayed with me—and I feel it’s important to speak out.
I was 17 years old at the time, waiting outside the train station in Burton for a Burton Buses service. When I tried to board, the driver refused to scan my ticket or even try to process my payment. Despite showing him that I had money in my account, he kept insisting it wasn’t working and wouldn’t let me on. It was clearly an issue with the card machine, but he showed no interest in helping or offering any solution.
What made this even worse was his attitude—he smirked, showed no empathy, and treated me like I didn’t matter. As a young Black girl alone, I felt completely powerless. I ended up waiting two hours for another bus and crying my eyes out. I genuinely believe I was treated this way because of the colour of my skin.
This was one of the most humiliating experiences of my life, and I’ve never forgotten how small and excluded I was made to feel. Burton Buses needs to take accountability and ensure their drivers are properly trained to treat all passengers with basic decency, regardless of their background.
