Beware: Bait and Switch. I signed a binding contract to move from one state to another. A week before the move, they texted me at 10.24 pm on a Friday night. Then called me the following day at 3.25 p... Se mer

Midland van lines is the worst interstate mover
Midland van lines is actually a broker, they do not operate truck lines. They either sub contracted to other companies or sells the customers to other moving companies.
They are the worst company you can use for moving interstates. The sales man Jared was so nice before he got the deposit. He would say anything he could to get your business. After he got the deposit, I bet that including his commission, he disappeared. We could not get a response from him. Their customer service is the worst on the market, rude, unprofessional and no help, you name it. The van lines absolutely mislead their customers in everyway they can. What they do is to have the subcontractors play the bad guys who collect their share on the jobs they do because Midland van lines offer so low pricing that it will not cover the movers who actually do the job! I moved a few pieces of furniture from MI to CA. They charged $1800 for wrapping some dumbbells simply because Midland Van Lines did not give enough to the real mover.
Midland van lines should stop doing business! stop cheating customers!
If you are to move anything cross states, pls do everything avoiding this mover. I am surprised they are still in business! Wish I read reviews before signing up with them.
I hope someday someone will take them to court!
This company is a complete fraud
This company is a complete fraud! the quote was originally 4100 and one week before our move they told us it was actually 10,000. They stated the inventory was not quoted corrected. I spoke with a James Listen who promised me the moon and delivered nothing. When they did deliver our boxes, they were all smashed up and many broken items I would never ever use a broker best to use a local mover
Do NOT use this company
Prior to her cross-country move, my daughter asked about insurance and was told it would be covered by homeowners insurance. This turned out to be a complete lie. They rescheduled her pick up multiple times which caused significant logistical issues. The guys who picked up her stuff seemed questionable. After they left, I noticed a full package of candy was missing from the counter, raising immediate concerns about their trustworthiness. For some reason, they said it was necessary to put her items in storage for 3 weeks, despite having an agreed upon delivery date. She moved to her new city and started her new job without her possessions. Twice she had a friend wait at her apartment for the movers but they never showed up as promised. She provided clear building access instructions in writing but they still showed up outside of the allowed time frame. As a result, her building superintendent publicly reprimanded her, causing significant distress. As a result of the rush to offload her items in the 20 minutes the superintendent allowed them and her state of distress, she did not notice that multiple items were missing-boxes, storage racks, a nightstand and more. Her dresser was broken and water-damaged beyond repair. The company claims they looked for her items but they responded so quickly there is no way they actually looked for anything. The value of the missing items is easily over $2000 but they offered her $150 stating that she did not purchase the insurance-only because they mislead her about its necessity. She accepted the offer out of frustration but despite sending emails and leaving phone messages over several months, they have yet to send the check. This company has demonstrated a blatant disregard for its customers, failed to uphold its promises (of a "painless move"), and mishandled both the logistical and ethical responsibilities of a professional moving company. They should refund the entire fee that she paid as they are in complete violation of their contract.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They lie to you from the beginning. I was quoted a price, promised a delivery date and the price doubled and the delivery date was pushed to the very last day it could be delivered: Three weeks from the promised date. First they contract out sub par moving companies, yet they tell you they do the entire moving process themselves. Second the movers were supposed to be at my house at 4:30 pm - well they called at 4:30 pm stating they went to the same address in a different state!! Yet no one form the parent company -Midland Van Lines - claimed to know anything about this. Third, if you call customer service most likely you will get Sandra who will refuse to answer any questions and will tell you over and over that she cannot get in touch with the truck your belongings are in. She may even hang up on you, absolutely horrible customer service. I called, emailed, texted every person I had contact information for and not one person called me back. When the truck finally came to my 88 year old parents apartment, boxes were damaged and they refused to take any responsibility. They caused my family so much stress for the month we waited for my parents shipments. I cannot stress how absolutely AWFUL this company is. In fact, do not go with ANY company who needs a deposit up front- as soon as you have given them money you are no longer their problem and your order is shipped to another company and then they change the quote and charge you more. Learn from my HUGE mistake- do your research!!!!!!
Midland Vanlines is a Criminal Enterprise
This company is a criminal enterprise. Please do not use them. Everything that is described in the negative reviews is happening to me now. I wish I had done my research because if I had, I would never have hired this company. I am so scared I will never see my belongings again or if I do, they will be unusable or irrepairable. Please do not use this company. They are absolutely liars and scammers:
1. They initially underquoted my long distance move from Wichita, KS to Charlotte, NC.
2. When they called to confirm the pick up date(s) and the inventory of my household goods I willingly agreed to pay $6200 up from $5000 to ensure adequate cubic feet on the truck and quality, professional packing services. At this point, they know you are in between a rock and a hard place because of the time limitations to coordinate a long distance move: this recognition is used as leverage to gouge you for more money. In addition, you have already made a large deposit which is no longer refundable.
3. They only accept cash which prevents the consumer from disputing the transaction as fraud which they fully intend to commit. Only disreputable moving companies demand large deposits and payment in cash.
4. On the day of my pick up only one man arrived in a dirty Penske truck. Midland Van Lines is not a carrier with their own trucks as they claim. The U.S. Department of Transportation lists the size of their fleet at 6 trucks. Customer service continued to insist that they are a carrier despite this documented fact. In addition, they are not accredited with the Better Business Bureau as advertised.
5. The man who arrived insisted my move would cost $8000 up from $6200 because I was quoted inadequate cubic feet in addition to a full-service pack and ship. He and his supervisors proceeded to gaslight me using my ignorance about cubic feet to convince me that I had not paid for enough. (Afterwards, I learned that $8.00 a cubic foot is considered standard for long distance moves. Using this formula I should have paid $4488 for 561 cubic feet. I had already agreed to $6200 at this point which included full service pack and ship.) They then offered to start loading the truck so I could see how woefully inadequate 561 cubic feet is. I rejected this offer and threatened to cancel the entire job. After 1 1/2 hours of negotiation we agreed to proceed at $6500 up from $6200. However, I had to pay $2685 in cash.
6. The lone man proceeded to start packing and loading the truck. I mistakenly assumed others would arrive to help him: I was promised two men supervised by a foreman. No one else came.
7. I became suspicious when no one else arrived to help and I saw how my furniture and belongings were being packed. My couch was not wrapped properly. He put it standing up vertically on the truck which is guaranteed to damage it. My brand new mattress and adjustable base which I am still paying for were not protected with the proper materials. My glass coffee table was not properly wrapped or protected. My clothes were shoved into boxes instead of hung in wardrobe boxes. I have no doubt that other fragile items were improperly packed and will be damaged. Still, I felt bad for this man and bought him dinner and tipped him in cash. That was before I did my research belatedly and found out that what I had been dealing with was exactly what others had experienced.
8. As of today I have no idea where my belongings are or when they will be delivered. I have been promised call backs from either Kathy or Rachel who are supposed to be managers. Neither has contacted me. In addition to the broken verbal promises regarding price and the assurances of quality packing services and professional care of my belongings, Anthony promised I would receive my shipment in 5-7 days. The time frame was specifically why I cancelled service with another mover who I became suspicious of. Ironically, both companies accused each other of being scammers. At least the other company played a recording on the phone informing you that they are brokers - which is what Midland Van Lines is even though they claim to be carriers - and that they can not guarantee price or anything else regarding your service. I did see on the Midland Van Lines contract that I may not receive my goods for 14 days. I called Anthony on this yet he swore I would receive my goods in 5-7 days.
9. I am waiting for someone with some authority and integrity at Midland Van Lines to do the right thing and rectify this situation. If they do, I will gladly update this review accordingly.
WARNING: Do Not Hire This Company – Complete Fraud
Please read this before hiring them. This company is a total scam. Everything they promise is a lie. They subcontract local, unprofessional laborers who handled my belongings carelessly and caused extensive damage.
The only smooth part of the process was the initial conversation with the salesperson, Luke Sullivan, who made everything sound perfect—but it was all deception.
The day before the scheduled pickup, the office called to confirm a pickup window of 10 AM to noon. However, on the day of, the driver called and said he’d arrive by 3 PM. He didn’t show up until 5 PM. Two other so-called “professional movers” arrived 30 minutes later, reeking of marijuana and clearly under the influence. The first thing the driver asked was whether they had any tools, and they said no. That should tell you everything.
They didn’t finish loading until 11 PM leaving several things behind, because they did not have room in the truck. The driver then told me he was heading straight to my destination and that I needed to be there to receive the delivery or it would be offloaded elsewhere and I’d have to arrange transport myself. Based on this, I changed my travel plans.
The next day, while I was en route to Florida, I texted the driver for an update. He replied saying his plans changed and he no longer had my things—he told me to call the office. After about 20 calls, I finally heard back from another driver two weeks later.
This second driver also gave me a 10 AM–12 PM delivery window—but didn’t show up until 7:30 PM. When they finally unloaded my items, about 85% of them were damaged. Some things were still usable, but most were destroyed or badly broken.
This was an awful experience from start to finish. Avoid this company at all costs.
Liarsand scammers!!
-The estimate was completley wrong. Not even close. They lock you in with a low offer and then raise the price holding your goods hostage.
-Items were lost and damaged totaling $500. They company is not responding to e-mails about it.
- Delievery date was off by weeks.
- Hidden fees and post contract fees!! at the time of delivery, they charged all these additional hidden fees and threatened to keep your goods if you don't pay.
Do your research!!@
The company is a fraud. They state they are A + with BBB, but they are not affiliated. Read your contact thoroughly if you should decide to use them. Make sure the Dot numbers on all of your documents belong to Midland Van lines and not another moving company
do not hire this company
I wish I'd read all the Yelp reviews here before i hired them. Luke Sullivan assured me that they don't hire other contractors for the move - that all staff are professional Midland employees. That wasn't the case - the movers were not professional, not experienced, and not careful. ANd like the others he made an estimate of my cubic feet based on the inventory and that was way LOW when it got in and they demanded an additional 4000 . And like the others, had to pay CASH on pickup - altho they said you could use a personal check, the mover said that will delay your delivery while we wait for your check to clear. On delivery, only cash. They broke a number of my pieces of antique furniture - and eith the pick up, storage or delivery guys broke off a piece of an antique dresser and tried to hide it by slopping white glue all over the piece - which has taken me many hours to carefully remove before I can replace th broken piece. The delivery supervisor said it should have been put in a box, not a wrapping cloth - but I am pretty sure didn't relate that to the company. FInally the delivery van on leaving drove through the grass in the center o the circle driveway, leaving big ruts and tearing out the grass, and broke 4 branches off a tree.
HORRIBLE MOVING COMPANY
I schedule my pickup for May 31,2025 They came sunday after the original pickup time, which was 8am-12pm.THey didnt get there until after 3pm. So when the driver came to my house everything was fine until I showed him what was going on the truck. As i was telling him what to move he stated that i would be charged extra. So i ask him how much extra will it cost. He started getting an attitude and got mad because i ask a question about how much it would cost. SO i reach out to the rep and she ask the same question. HE got mad and stated that he is about to leave. I told him to do what he has to do. i called the company and told them i dont trust him to move my things. Then Rachel gets an attitude siding with the driver. i told her i would like my refund from my deposit. She stated that the refund for the deposit will not be refunded. PLEASE DONT USE THIS COMPANY TO MOVE YOU. THEY ARE A RIP OFF!!!!
IM reporting them to the credit bureau..... THEY WOULD NOT GIVE ME THE CORPORATE NUMBER EITHER...
If I could give this company zero Stars…
If I could give this company zero Stars I would. First of all Adrian at Midland Van lines was not honest when he booked the move he booked for half the space then they use the company called ASAP Van lines who charged twice as much on the day for a move that I had done previously for $7000 less. They also forced me to pay $1,000 for a shuttle. They broke off my stuff and did not deliver most expensive items including expensive equipment. They promised to deliver it the day after and I was forced to keep calling customer service to no avail.
This is not a company that could be trusted for moving as they destroy your most expensive items and do not deliver the rest. They care only about money not about the customer.
Midland Van Lines has only delivered 1 of 2 Trucks
Midland Van Lines has only delivered 1 of 2 trucks with our belongings, and will not give us an ETA for the delivery of the remaining items. We have paid in full for pickup and delivery, for both truckloads. It has been 3 weeks past the agreed upon delivery date. Customer Service says they have to get the ETA from Dispatch, and Dispatch will not return calls or emails (nor answer the phone).
HIRE A DIFFERENT COMPANY
Read there reviews before hiring, they are a rip off company
So disappointed!
So disappointed! I feel like I just experienced the old bait and switch. I explained what I wanted to move. Why has that cost more than doubled today after speaking with the £quality assurance team? I trusted Midland to give me an adequate quote. They are supposed to be the "experts". Now it's 6 days out, the cost skyrockets and they refuse to give my deposit back, not even a partial refund. Bad business! Shameful!
I am only giving 1 star b/c there isn't…
I am only giving 1 star b/c there isn't an option for 0. This is the worst company, let alone moving company, I have ever had the misfortune or working with in my life. The business practices are the most blatant and shady I have ever seen. They increased my quote twice (from $5500, to $8300, then to over $11k, including on the moving day, forced me to pay cash, fraudulently charged me a redelivery fee (refused to deliver my belongings unless I wired them the money even though fee was completely bogus and overcharged me for that too, another $1568, OVERCHARGED me almost double the amount of cubic footage I actually used (which I was told multiple times I would only pay for what I actually used), initially promised to refund me the amount for the overcharged cu. ft. and then just cut off communication. I have photos of the truck, the measurements of the truck showing the cu. ft. I used, a video of the driver agreeing with me on those measurements, text messages from the company saying they would refund me, and then just nothing. They owe me an absolute MINIMUM of $3750 and I haven't seen a DIME of it. Absolutely horrific experience. And also SO UNFAIR - it is mind boggling how they can just continue to get away with this.
Not total transparency - pickup June 16 and delivery July 28
I contacted Midland Van Lines in May 2024. James (Jimmy) was so friendly, answered all my questions, and booked my move from WA to TN. He assured me that my belongings would be picked up and delivered by Midland Van Lines in trucks marked as such, and would not leave the truck. The first available delivery date to TN was 6/22/24, and he said they should be able to do that. James provided email and phone info stating that he would be available to answer questions. He was never available. No response to emails, phone calls or texts. The truck that picked up our belongings on June 16, 2024 was an Enterprise rent a truck. The crew that picked up were all nice and careful with belongings. Once the truck left I never heard a word. I did call in July asking about my stuff and was told they don’t update customers and a driver will call with delivery. My belongings were delivered on July 28, 2024 which was longer than it should have been - outside of the window of 21 days from pickup less weekends and holidays. A team of two brothers delivered my belongings. It was in a truck that said Van Lines only. No company name. That was blanked out. The two hired someone from the area to help unload and he stayed a few hours. They were not careful with the belongings. They used a pole to knock the boxes down breaking kitchenware. All of my boxes that held breakables were marked with red fragile labels in several locations. They didn’t seem to care. One guy tried bringing an antique dresser up the front steps by himself. He dropped it down the stairs chipping a piece of the ornamental wood off the bottom drawer. My coffee table has deep gouges in it. A floor lamp was bent, an antique coat tree was broken on two sides at the base, a 30” mercury glass Christmas tree was broken in half, just to name a few. In September I was offered 150 for my inconvenience. I emailed recently to ask if I took that could I still file a claim. Immediately a man called and very rudely asked if I filed a claim. I said no and told him I needed him to read my email and answer my questions. He hung up on me. I think they don’t like talking to women at this company except to secure your business. This company does sell your load even though they assure you that they don’t. I too paid more than my estimate. I understand that it comes down to space and weight. I just feel there is no transparency in this business. I have tried filing a complaint at moving claims.net. They require you to include all copies of your paperwork front and back and pictures of all damage. However the file size they accept doesn’t allow for all that to be included. Seems somewhat shady to keep you from getting paid. I would just say that you need to know what you are getting with this company. It definitely won’t be what they tell you. I don’t think any movers will be 100% honest. My furniture was delivered well outside the window - 21 days from first available date minus weekends and holidays - with no courtesy call or explanation. Had I been told this is what could happen, I would have brought some kitchenware and pots and pans so we could cook and not have to eat out for all those days. This move was almost $12,000. I expected more.
BEWARE!
Started off friendly enough. Charge by cubic foot moved, went through detailed estimation process. Then after they loaded my stuff, and driver told me bill would be 55% higher (44% on 'volume' 890% packing materials), and asked for a $5,300 check to continue the move. They have you! Tried to get answers on the discrepancies but they never returned my calls or emails. Stuff showed up in a different truck worse for the wear. Mirror smashed, chair missing, glasses broken. Offered $50. And funny, no customer satisfaction survey afterwards. Who doesn't do that? People who don't care, that's who!
LIAR'S AND THIEVES
Do not hire this company, they give lowball quotes to get your deposit and at the time of the move they they double the price on me and it was to late to hire someone else. They also lost and damage things of mine and are making me go throw hoops to file a claim. They tell you lies to get your money. Very deceptive company. BEWARE
Worse Moving Experience in over multiple moves
If there were a 1/2 Star rating, I would use that!!!
Pros:
Steve Graf seemed very helpful when booking our shipment and it appeared he applied as many discounts as could be applied (shipping cost was in excess of $5000 for non-premium add on shipping).
Customer service/QC Frank was as helpful as possible with the service information available, and he did call us back twice once we were finally able to talk with a human being.
CONS:
1. Upcharge at pickup due to under estimation during initial setup of contract ($600+)
2.. Difficulty in contacting a human being to discuss delivery of household goods (finally we got in contact with Gary from customer service who was rude and was unable to tell us where our goods were or delivery date). We were told by the pickup team leader the HHGs were being immediately transferred to a delivery driver and would be delivered in 4-6 days).
3. Tied our two mattresses onto the back of their completely filled box truck (which did not have the agreed upon spacing due to overfilling prior to our pickup).
4. Midland uses contract personnel for outsourcing on pickup and delivery who care about being paid, but not overly concerned about your items.
5. Packing of boxes by Midland resulted in one box containing our small appliances being packed without cushioning (all appliances broken).
6. Delivery was 12 days after pickup and there was an upcharge for delivery ($285).
7. As a NON PREIMIUM shipment, you are not guaranteed a pickup date, delivery date, a location of your goods, and damages are based on 60 cents per pound of each damaged item.
8. The Damage to furniture was minor and we were able to repair ourselves (they don't care).
Bottom Line
Search for a reliable and reputable shipper who is BBB certified and who won't take advantage of you - Midland Van Lines is not BBB certified and really doesn't seem to care.
Midland Van Lines is the worst moving…
Midland Van Lines is the worst moving company I’ve ever dealt with. While the sales rep, Steven, initially reassured us with reasonable pricing and delivery promises, everything fell apart after that. Frank, another representative, was shockingly rude—accusing me of being a fraud and dismissing issues as a "language barrier." Delivery, initially promised between November 22-24, was delayed to the 26th, and they called at 11 PM on the 24th with no explanation.
When the movers finally arrived, they demanded an extra $2,000, claiming their "eye measurement" was better than the dimensions we had carefully provided. To top it off, the lock on the truck was frozen due to the cold.Customer service was equally unhelpful and rude. The delivery process dragged on for a month, with constant delays and hidden fees—charges for walking a meter, packaging, long rides, and more. It felt like they intentionally added costs at every step.
To make matters worse, every person I dealt with was horrible: Steven, Chris, Frank, Jared W., and Mike provided the worst customer service imaginable. They were rude, unprofessional, and completely unhelpful.
And the cherry on top—they broke most of the furniture!
This company is nothing but a scam with deceptive practices and incompetent staff. Avoid Midland Van Lines at all costs!
