I have been living here for 1.5 years and if there's an issue it is solved quickly. I have spoken to Christina multiple times, and everytime she was straight on it. She's very caring and always ready to help.

Maisy Smith was really helpful when sorting the broken blinds in the property. These were been broken before I moved in and started the tenancy. After becoming my my property manager, Maisy has picked this up and got the blinds replaced quickly. Each step of the process was communicated clearly and I am really happy with the work.

Catie was amazing, I had a great experience working with her.

This is the most disappointing company I have ever encountered. They lack empathy and are solely motivated by greed. Even if you give your all, they will still take advantage of you.
They don't even deserve a single star.

Joe was very helpful and knowledgable at the viewings and looking to book our place with him.

I recently viewed 2 different student properties and Arabel did a great job showing me around! There were some difficulties entering properties due to card access but Arabel handled everything well. I also appreciated the flexibility in pricing along with some freebies. Moving forward, I think tenants should be notified of house viewings as they were unaware and therefore interrupted by our viewing.

I contacted John Shepherd to enquire about renting after being made redundant last year. My income position is non-standard because I have a mix of PAYE income, redundancy payment and self-employment income. I explained that I had evidence of funds, could provide supporting documentation and also had a guarantor.

I was told that I could not view any of their properties and, in my view, the response was dismissive and unfair. The phrase used to me was that they “don’t rent to your type of people”. I found this extremely upsetting and concerning, especially as I was not asking to avoid referencing or affordability checks. I was asking for my circumstances to be considered properly.

I understand that the law now restricts large rent-in-advance payments, but that should not mean people with mixed income, redundancy history or self-employment are automatically excluded from even viewing properties. I would expect a letting agent to assess evidence fairly, including savings, bank statements, self-employment income and guarantor support. I have asked for the reason for refusal in writing as I have two similar phone calls.

A few days ago me and my friends viewed a student property in Nottingham. Kelvin, the person showing us around was very friendly and went above and beyond during our viewing.

Everything went very smoothly .. Alan and Gemma were helpful .. they were diligent and considerate to our requests ., thank you for a professional experience ..

We have recently been moved to a different estate agency but we were with John Shepherd for two years.

They provided an incredibly poor service, at one point leaving us without heating for over two months during winter. Communication was abysmal, with agents laughing at us on the phone, broken promises and issues not being sorted for weeks on end. We eventually had to get the council involved through environmental health and only then did John Shepherd fix the maintenance issues with the property as they were threatened with a fine.

I would never recommend using John shepherd, whether buying, letting or renting. Their lack of empathy and unprofessionalism left us extremely stressed and upset in our home for months. There is so many better estate agents in Nottingham who care for their customers.

Throughout our years tenancy with John shepherd we have been chasing up a £100 cash incentive that was originally offered to us for staying on with the company. After numerous emails, phone calls and visits to there office with promises being made to us, we are still yet to be paid. Overall, the management and staff communication at the company seems very poor, and they have very little regard to students.
