I have been a resident with Homegroup…
I have been a resident with Homegroup for 31 years, and I’m extremely disappointed with the ongoing lack of communication and poor service. Every repair I’ve requested has either been cancelled, done poorly, or simply not done at all. Despite yearly promises of improvement, I’ve yet to see any meaningful change.
Other residents had their bathrooms replaced last year, yet I haven’t even received any communication about when mine might be due. These homes were all built at the same time—so why am I still waiting? I pay my rent on time, every time, without fail, and I expect the same level of reliability in return.
I recently had an online chat with a coordinator, and while I sympathize with them, it’s clear they don’t have the information they need to help residents effectively. I was told that budgets are set annually, and if bathrooms were done in March and April, then it’s likely nothing will happen now that we’re in July. That’s incredibly frustrating.
The lack of transparency and communication from Homegroup is unacceptable. After three decades as a tenant, I expected better.

AVOID HOME GROUP LIKE THE PLAGUE
Have been a tenant with Home Group for over 7 years at this point and I would not recommend them as a landlord at all.
You will spend majority of your time constantly chasing them for repairs to be done and then they send cowboy subcontractors who bodge the jobs so badly you have to redo them. That's if your lucky enough to actually get the repairs done. The house is in poor condition due to the cowboys they send in to "repair" things.
When I first moved into the property all of my light switches and plug sockets had been painted over with the same magnolia paint that the contractor had used on the walls.
The triple glazed glass in the back door was smashed (it's about 3/4 of the whole door) and the man they sent to fit the new pane of glass couldn't lift it into the door so I had to help him do this. Not my job, they should've sent more than one man!
I spent 11 months without a functional boiler and spent whole afternoons each week for the 11 months having to chase things up to find out what was going on. I was offered to go and shower myself and my young disabled son in a flat that's in one of their houses that homes people with mental health conditions and drug and alcohol dependents. Disgusting!
They charge obscene amounts in service charges for our community areas to apparently be kept immaculate yet they're never done and you have to chase them up about this too, the disabled ramp is always overgrown so it can't be used without spikey brambles slapping you in the face.
The community grounds where I live is absolutely disgusting, nothing is looked after and maintained. The gardener comes and does half a job and ends up using his leaf blower to blow all his debris into people's pathways so when we open our doors we have all the dirt and debris coming in. He also likes to leave our vehicles in a right state once he's cut the grass on the rare occasions he does it. He never does the job properly and we always end up having to report the bushes and trees need sorting. Which also never gets done. The trees have been cut once in the 7+ years I've lived in my home. Once! Yet we get charged an obscene amount of money in service charges and tree surgery is one of the items on the service charge list!
The housing managers report jobs and still have the same issues as us tenants do.
The surveyor manager comes out to see the issues and spends more time telling you the plugs for the sinks needs to be on a chain or opening kitchen drawers than he does actually sorting the repairs out.
I have a mechanical ventilation system in the loft of my home that broke and leaked into the ceilings, the surveryor manager told me that it would be removed as it's cheaper than fixing it and that he didn't want to close the vent holes in each ceiling up even though the machine doesn't work and isn't attached to these vents anymore. This was well over a year ago and it's still in the loft. Some of the bits for the old boiler are still in the house yet non functional. My new boiler was fitted in October 2022! The old boiler had solar panels that were supposed to save us money on our gas bills, that never happened and the solar panels even though they don't work are still on the roofs.
The new boiler was fitted by cowboys and they left it in a right mess so Tony, the surveyor manager came out to see it and instead of having the work redone he got another cowboy to hide it with a cupboard around it. Which we had to redo his work as he chipped all the plinths and instead of trying again he covered it in silicone.
My upstairs bathroom window tracking and catches broke around 3 years ago, the cowboy they sent fitted a random lock with a wire and key on it and went on his way, he didn't actually fix the issue and it's still the same today!
I am beyond sick and tired of chasing things up!
They also allow tenants who cause numerous antisocial behaviour issues to get away with it.
We have one neighbour that has been extremely abusive and aggressive to lots of us and most recently attacked another neighbour and was racially abusive to him. The asbo neighbour is already on a court order for being abusive to a member of staff yet the legal team of Home Group aren't proceeding to do anything about him so he's gotten away with it and we have to live with it. Apparently they don't want to make him homeless due to the housing crisis in the country at the moment. Even though the legal team made us all sign witness statements, they decided to leave a racist abuser in a neighborhood that's full of small children.
Honestly I'd avoid Home Group like the plague! They are one of the worst housing associations I've ever encountered! Unfortunately for me I cannot swap to another place as the set up here puts people off so I feel like I'm stuck in this hell hole!

No help, useless
No help. Wanted an update on a repair to fix a toilet leak that was already "fixed" by 2 plumbers but it still leaks (more now then before) only to be told it is with a sub contractor and they will contact us - this never happens. When asked for a direct number to schedule repair ourselves with the sub contractor apparently they don't have any details to pass on to us. What a joke!!!
