Very disappointing experience – €1,000 deposit still unresolved
Unacceptable handling of a €1,000 security deposit
My experience with CheckMyGuest has been extremely frustrating.
I returned the keys to the property on 31 August 2026, and the move-out inspection was clean, with no deductions reported. Nevertheless, my €1,000 security deposit has not been refunded.
I have contacted the company repeatedly and have been told that the payment was a pre-authorisation and that a release or refund had been requested. However, I still do not have access to the money, and I have not received a satisfactory resolution.
The one-month deposit-return deadline stated in my rental contract has passed. I have now taken the matter further by contacting the relevant French authorities and my bank so that the issue can be handled through formal channels.
It is disappointing that a straightforward deposit return has reached this stage. Tenants should not have to repeatedly chase a company for their own money or be left uncertain about when it will be returned.
Based on my personal experience, I would not recommend checkmyguest !

This clean apartment was conveniently situated with good food shops and close to the metro. It even had a boulangerie across the road. There were blinds on all the windows and it took only 20 seconds to convert the sofa to a comfortable bed. Access was easy and the team were quickly responsive to any questions or problems. There was also a good market open 3 times a week a short distance away. I can recommend this accomodation.

Une expérience très décevante — soyez vigilants avant de louer.
Après plus de 10 ans de locations d’appartements meublés à Paris auprès d’autres agences, sans difficulté particulière, mon expérience avec cette agence est malheureusement très mauvaise.
J’ai quitté le logement le 28 août 2026 et, à ce jour, je n’ai toujours pas récupéré mon dépôt de garantie de 6 000 €.
Depuis plusieurs semaines, je multiplie les appels et les messages pour obtenir le remboursement. Mes sollicitations restent sans réponse de la part de Youssef, qui ne prend plus mes appels et ne répond pas à mes messages.
Lorsque je tente de le joindre avec un autre numéro, il répond et m’annonce qu’un remboursement interviendra dans les jours suivants. Pourtant, malgré ces promesses, je n’ai toujours reçu aucun remboursement.
L’agence invoque des dégradations que je conteste, alors qu’aucun état des lieux de sortie n’a été signé par moi.
Cette situation est particulièrement éprouvante et je trouve inacceptable de devoir autant insister pour récupérer une somme aussi importante.
Je partage mon expérience afin que les futurs locataires soient vigilants, notamment concernant les conditions de restitution du dépôt de garantie et le suivi après le départ. J’espère toujours que cette situation sera rapidement régularisée.
