Car trawler refused to refund me my prepaid fee when Goldcar could not put my valid Visa card into their computer system on the pretence it was over my daily limit …. Car trawler when I disputed with Cartrawler they said my visa had my middle initial on my Visa card and said that was the reason….. all scamming techniques by both Cartrawler and their partner Gold Car .
Don’t use them

I booked a rental car through the Wizz Air website several months before my trip. Unfortunately, when I arrived at Kraków Airport, I was unable to collect the vehicle because my credit card did not have embossed numbers and letters.

I live in Norway, where banks stopped issuing embossed credit cards several years ago. My card is a valid credit card and is accepted everywhere else without any issues. At no point during the booking process was it made sufficiently clear that this specific requirement could prevent me from collecting the vehicle.

As a result, I spent almost two hours at the airport trying to resolve the situation and was ultimately forced to rent another car at a much higher price. What should have been a simple weekend trip turned into a stressful and expensive experience.

What surprised me the most was learning that this is not an isolated case. I was informed that several customers each week face the same problem, particularly travellers from countries such as Norway and the UK, where embossed credit cards are no longer common.

My main criticism is the lack of clear information during the booking process. If this requirement had been clearly highlighted before payment, I would have chosen a different rental option and avoided unnecessary costs and frustration.

I hope Wizz Air and its rental partners improve the booking information so that future customers do not face the same situation.

Absolute disgrace and I will continue to post a 1 star review every day until I am refunded.

Refused to refund as they said I had typed my email address incorrectly which was utterly ridicoulous. Just plain cowboys. I am reporting to fair trading, they should be taken out of business.

Nous avions réservé et payé à l’avance une Seat Ibiza mais avons finalement reçu une vieille Fiat Punto dans un état très dégradé. Les essuie-glaces fonctionnaient mal et nous avons également rencontré un problème de direction assistée, au point que le véhicule a dû être remplacé pendant la location par une Suzuki Baleno.
Autre très mauvaise surprise : 147€ supplémentaires nous ont été imposés au retrait du véhicule car notre carte bancaire n’était soi-disant pas une “carte de crédit”. Cette condition ne nous avait jamais été clairement expliquée avant le paiement de la réservation. Une fois sur place, dans une agence éloignée accessible uniquement par navette, nous n’avions pas réellement d’autre choix que de payer pour pouvoir récupérer une voiture.
De plus, malgré plusieurs demandes, nous n’avons jamais reçu le contrat de location complet.
Au final, coût presque doublé, manque de transparence et véhicule loin du standard attendu. Expérience très décevante que je ne recommande pas.

Ikke til å stole på. Prisene er lave, men bestillingen går ikke igjennom. Pengene ble trukket fra kortet, og alt var rett, men bestillingen ble avslått fra Cartrawler. Tjenesten bør ikke brukes.

J’ai réservé une voiture en ligne la veille via etihad-cartrawler pour 270€.
Je reçois un message quelques heures avant qui me dit qu’il nous faut une carte de crédit (inexistante en France) et non de débit pour payer la caution !!!

Arrivée sur place, on me dit que puisque je n’ai pas de carte de crédit, il faut payer une caution de 150 OMR (350€ !!!!!!!) NON REMBOURSABLE !!!

Donc, soit je payais la caution et j’avais la voiture, soit je perdais les 270€ de location car pas possible d’annuler évidemment.

Une énorme ARNAQUE.
Bien sur j’ai d’abord cherché le service client, j’ai demandé à la dame du guichet le numéro, elle n’a pas voulu m’aider à le chercher !!

Une fois le numéro (difficilement) trouvé j’ai contacté le service client pour essayer d’annuler, rien à faire. C’est Alamo qui ne veut pas annuler.

En bref FUYEZ cette agence. Je pensais qu’en réservant avec Etihad je serais bien mais non. Cette agence est une énorme arnaque qui se fait des sous sur le dos des touristes.

This is a scam. Ive been lefted at the airporte of Tenerife waithing, start chating with company and they left US and no refound! Watch out!

This is a scam and don’t know why Emirates is linked to it. I booked for a pick up to the Airport and made all payments, after a while the driver called to say that It might rain and that he cannot come.
Henceforth, I have sent numerous emails to the concerned party but I’ve been ignored multiple times.
Remember it’s not every one you can do this to!
Time will tell!

Ostrzegam przed rezerwowaniem jakiegokolwiek samochodu przez stronę Wizzair! To czyste oszustwo i wyłudzenie pieniędzy od klientów!! Dokonaliśmy rezerwacji oraz płatności za bilety oraz samochód. Płatność przeszła bez problemu jednakże już na drugi dzień dostałam maila z Cartrawler z informacją że na koncie nie miałam wystarczających środków na opłacenie rezerwacji. Przecież płatność już została pobrana przez wizzair. Skąd firma Cartrawler w ogóle miała dostęp do pobrania środków z mojego konta bez mojej zgody??? Moja rezerwacja została przez nich anulowana. Dzwoniąc na infolinię wizzair , zbywającą mnie Pani nic nie pomogła i z uporem maniaka stwierdzała że mam wyjaśniać sprawę bezpośrednio z firmą wynajmującą auta. Przecież to Wizzair pobrał pieniądze i nie przekazał tejże firmie więc jak można sie od nich domagać zwrotu ?? Wizzair ukradł pieniądze nie realizując usługi której pośredniczy. Nie ma możliwości wysłać nawet reklamacji żeby domagać się zwrotu środków ! Odradzam i ostrzegam przed korzystaniem usług Wizzair która widać jest w zmowie z Cartrawler!!

Société frauduleuse. Aucune voiture à l’arrivée. Aucun service Client une IA qui vous promet le remboursement et ne le fait jamais. A fuire absolument.

Proposition de contrat de location avec assurance tout comprit...Mais à l'arrivée rien qui correspond.
Si vous contactez le service réclamation vous avez des réponses toutes faites...

Location via le site de Volotéa. Cartrawler n'apparait pratiquement pas !
Arrivée du vol avec 30 min de retard, comptoir Avis fermé, donc pas de possibilité de récupérer la voiture que j'ai payé. La réponse de Cartrawler m'explique comment faire une réservation de véhicule et me dit que puisque je n'ai pas annulé, je ne serais pas remboursé. Je suppose qu'eux ont été remboursé par Avis.
La note de Cartrawler est faible et je comprends pourquoi.

The worst car rental service. We rented a car from Cartrawler, for Fuerteventura on the dates above. We read the fine print to say we needed a Credit Card with a €2300.00 on it for insurance reasons. So, I cancelled it for that reason. I cancelled in the time frame alloted for cancellation. I took a pic of the cancellation saying it was cancelled!! But lo and behold, they came back saying there wasn't a recored for my cancellation and I was charged the full amount saying I was a no show which means they can take the full amount for the car!! Absolutely disgusted by the way they conduct the service. Please. If you take anything from the reviews on here!! STAY CLEAR from RENTING A CAR FROM CARTRAWLER!!!

I had a fully paid reservation through CarTrawler for a 7-seater car from Sixt in Porto. When I arrived at the Sixt desk at the airport, I was told that my car simply did not exist. No assistance, no responsibility, no alternative. Because the booking was specifically for seven people, replacing the vehicle was impossible, and it completely ruined my trip.

It has now been a month and a half since this disaster started, and I still have not received my refund. Every conversation with CarTrawler feels like talking to a wall. Their representatives are consistently unhelpful, unprepared, and entirely ineffective. The explanations they send me are absurd, contradictory, and make absolutely no sense — at times it genuinely feels like I’m dealing with bots rather than a real customer-service team.

I have e-mail correspondence that clearly shows how chaotic and unreasonable their communication is. One absurdity follows another, and nothing ever gets resolved.

Do not use CarTrawler. Ever. Choose them only if they are the last rental company left on Earth — and even then, public transport is likely a better option.

My trip was ruined, my group was stranded, and I am still fighting just to recover money I paid long in advance.

Société malhonnête : bon de réservation et facture évalués à 270 euros par car Trawler. Sur place ,j’ai dû payer 800 euros car … le retour au lieu différent de la prise en charge n’a pas été pris en compte par Car Trawler. Suite à mon mécontentement, la société dit ne rien pouvoir faire et …m’indique de m’adresser à mon assurance voyage ???
Je considère que j’ai été volé puisque le montant prévu n’est absolument pas le montant payé sur place avec les mêmes indications. À quoi bon demander le montant d’une réservation si celui-ci n’est pas respecté ?

Oferta Wizzair wynajmu samochodu, myśleliśmy, że firma solidna. Samochód opłacony ale nie dostaliśmy. Brak słów...
Zostaliśmy oszukani, że odrzucono transakcję przy blokowania depozytu. Karta była ok, bank stwierdził, że nie było żadnej próby tego dnia. Zwrotu kasy nie dostaliśmy.
