Fortunately or not, I got two for one!
I chose my husband's name for his birthday, and my maiden name just out of interest.
I have previously investigated our surnames and could say that what was sent was readily available online.
Yes this is printed on decent paper and looks good but the actual content is minimal and quite poor.
On comparing both surnames the language, and wording looks and is actually very similar. I was expecting to be shown something new. Being told Sheena Easton( musician) has the same surname isn't a deep investigation.
This was supposed to be a gift, now I feel embarrassed to pass it on as when we look at both of them together they are so similar that it makes you feel less trusting of the information. Not worth the paper it's printed on in my opinion. Very disappointing.

Dear Tracy,
Thank you for your honest feedback. We genuinely appreciate you taking the time to share this in such detail.
Over 40,000 people worldwide have enjoyed their Surname History packs, so we're sorry to hear yours didn't hit the mark. We do take this seriously. This was our first version of the product and we've been blown away by the support since launch. We're currently mid build on version 2.0, where our goal is to make it everything customers like you would hope it to be.
The information in each pack is 100% accurate and thoroughly researched. We understand that when comparing two surnames side by side, some of the language around origins and migration patterns can feel similar, and we'd be happy to explain why that is if you'd like to get in touch.
We'd really value your input. If there are specific facts or categories you'd like to see included in the next version, please send them to support@adayinhistory.co.uk. We'll make sure your suggestions are considered for the final product.
We'd also like to locate your order and offer a full refund as we never want a customer to leave unhappy. Please drop us an email at the same address referencing this review and we'll get that sorted for you straight away.
Best regards,
Team A Day In History

Dear Jackie,
Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear about your experience and wanted to share what happened on our end.
Your order was placed on 29th June and despatched the very next day on 30th June. Royal Mail scanned it as "in transit" on 2nd July, but there have been no updates since, which unfortunately suggests the parcel has been lost in their network. It's really frustrating when this happens as it's completely outside of our control once it leaves us.
Regarding customer service, we can see you emailed us at 11pm and our team responded the very next day with your tracking information and a full update. We would never want you to feel ignored and we're sorry if our reply didn't reach you.
Normally in this situation we'd resend the order, but since it seems our emails aren't getting through to you, we've gone ahead and processed a full refund so you're not left out of pocket. If the parcel does eventually turn up, it's yours to keep.
We're really sorry this wasn't the experience you deserved. We hope this puts things right.
Best regards,
Team A Day In History
A great and unique gift.
I bought the surname history on the 28th. Initially I was buying one for my friends birthday but as it was a BOGOF offer I decided to get a second for my stepdad for christmas. They arrived on Thursday and are honestly so cute. They have the history of the surname, when it was first recorded and what it means. It arrived well packaged and in very good condition. I have already recommended to several friends as fun gift ideas. I am even thinking of doing one for my maiden name. I would recommend this site.

I was over the moon with my a day…
I was over the moon with my a day history for my father in laws 80th birthday.
He absolutely loved it. He loved how he could look back on all the things on the day he was born.
The delivery was very quick. Comes in an envelope that can’t be bent. Comes I. A very nice folder to keep it in.
Communication was brilliant and very quick to respond to my questions
Over all a great birthday gift that we can all look back on.
Will definitely be using again soon,
Thankyou

I was fascinated in trying to find out…
I was fascinated in trying to find out where my surname had originated from as my father was Canadian but I later had found out that my Grandfather was British & I believe my grandmother was Irish but have not gotten that confirmed as I only met her once when I was very young & my grandfather had already passed. The surname was not only in the UK but in New Zealand & of course North America which didn’t surprise me I passed this on to my older brother & his children & have mentioned it to my friends it came with full knowledge of origin of where it came from with some interesting information loved reading it

Hi Suzan,
Thank you for reaching out via Trustpilot. We're sorry to hear about your experience and we want to get this resolved for you as quickly as possible.
We've searched our records but haven't been able to locate an order under your name, so we've reached out via Trustpilot to ask for a few more details such as the email address or order confirmation number used at checkout. Once we have those, we'll be able to track down exactly what happened and get it sorted straight away.
If you'd prefer a refund at that point, we'll absolutely process one for you. We would never knowingly ignore a customer, so we want to understand where the breakdown in communication has occurred.
We're on it and will be in touch as soon as we hear back from you.

Dear Russel,
Thank you for your feedback, and we're really sorry to hear your Father's Day gift didn't arrive in time. We completely understand how frustrating that must be.
We wanted to share a little context on what happened. Your order was placed on 11th June and despatched on 13th June, which is well within our processing time for a fully personalised product. Unfortunately, once the parcel is with Royal Mail, delivery is out of our hands, and in this case it appears to have become stuck in transit on their end.
Regarding the tracking number, because the order was sent via Royal Mail's standard service rather than Tracked 24, the tracking updates are limited. Royal Mail only update the status when delivery is attempted, so the tracking page can appear inactive even though the parcel is on its way. On our end, we can see it was scanned as "in transit", so it did enter the Royal Mail network.
On the communication side, we can see an active support thread where our team have been conversing with you. The last email in that thread was from us on Saturday and we've been waiting for your response since then, so we're a little confused by the suggestion that we haven't replied. We'd never want a customer to feel ignored.
We know none of this changes the fact that the gift didn't arrive when you needed it, and we're genuinely sorry about that. We've issued a full refund for your order so you're not left out of pocket. Over 90% of our orders arrive within a few days of dispatch, so this really isn't the experience we want for any customer.
If there's anything else we can help with, please do reply to the existing support thread and we'll get straight back to you.
Best regards,

Dear Victoria,
Thank you for your feedback. We're glad to hear you were happy with the quality of the paper and packaging.
We're sorry the content didn't quite meet your expectations. We want everyone to feel confident in what they're ordering before they buy.
We're actually working on the next version of our product right now, so if there are specific facts or categories you'd like to see added, we'd genuinely love to hear them. You can reach us at support@adayinhistory.co.uk and we'll make sure your suggestions are considered.

I’m very disappointed with my purchase…
I’m very disappointed with my purchase from A Day In History. I purchased two, one with my maiden name and the other with my married name. The results of both histories are almost exactly the same. This is impossible. I see this site is fake and regret paying the money I did for this purchase.

Dear Karen,
Thank you for your honest review. We're sorry to hear you were disappointed with your Surname History packs.
We completely understand your concern. Each surname should have its own unique origin and history, and we would expect two different surnames to produce quite different results. That's certainly what we see across the vast majority of our orders, so we'd really like to look into this for you to make sure everything was produced correctly.
We've reached out via Trustpilot to ask for a few more details so we can locate your order and take a closer look. Once we have those, we'll be in touch directly to get this sorted for you as quickly as possible.

This is so not worth the money (SURNAME EDITION)
This is so not worth the money. I am actually too embarrassed to give it to the recipient.
It has so little information which is just repeated from page to page in a slightly different format.
AI generated rubbish, I never learn not to respond to Facebook adverts.

Dear Lynn,
Thank you for your honest review. We're sorry to hear the pack didn't meet your expectations.
We wanted to reassure you that every pack is created by our human team, and each one is personally researched and put together based on the specific date provided. The pack is designed so that the front page serves as a summary, suitable for framing, while the following pages each focus on a different aspect of the day, such as the headlines, the economy, entertainment, and more. Every page has its own dedicated topic rather than repeating the same information.
Everything included in the pack is shown on our website before purchase so customers can see exactly what they'll receive. We understand it may not have been what you were hoping for, and we're sorry for that.
This feedback is genuinely quite different from what we typically hear from our customers, but we always want to improve. If there are specific facts or categories you'd like to see included, we'd really welcome that input. You can reach us at support@adayinhistory.co.uk and we'll make sure it's fed into our product development.

Dear Annette,
Thank you for your honest review.
We're really sorry to hear about your experience, and we completely understand your frustration. We take feedback like this seriously, so we wanted to share some context that we hope reassures both you and anyone reading this.
Your order was placed on Saturday 23rd May and was produced by our team the very next day. Due to the Bank Holiday on Monday 26th May, the first available Royal Mail collection was Tuesday 27th May, which was still within the 48 hour (Monday-Friday) dispatch window stated on our website. Delivery on 1st June also fell within the 2 to 4 business day timeframe for the shipping service selected at checkout.
Regarding your emails, we genuinely could not find any messages from you in our support system, which would explain why you didn't receive a reply. Our team did respond to you via Facebook on Sunday 25th May with your tracking details. We understand that's not the same as a prompt email reply, and we're sorry for the confusion.
We were also sorry to learn that your parcel arrived damaged. Our founder reached out to you personally to apologise, issued a full refund, and offered a free express replacement. We hope that demonstrates how seriously we take these situations, even when parts of the experience were outside of our control.
If there's anything else we can help with, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at support@adayinhistory.co.uk.
