I had a very disappointing experience with Charles Trent. I was initially offered £2,850 for my car after providing detailed photos and clearly explaining that the timing chain had snapped. Based on this, I chose to go with Charles Trent over another company who had offered me slightly more, simply because I thought their process seemed more straightforward and honest.

Unfortunately, that trust was misplaced. Once they collected my car, I was paid only £2,140 – a massive £710 less than the original offer. What’s worse, they never contacted me to explain the change or to give me a chance to reconsider. It felt like a bait-and-switch tactic, and I now regret not going with the other company.

I was completely upfront and honest about the car’s condition, and I expected the same in return. Instead, I feel like I’ve been robbed. Don’t waste your time with them – their online quotes appear to be nothing more than a lure to secure your agreement before reducing the offer once they have your vehicle. Very poor experience and I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.

I wouldn't bother not very good much better companies out there that will collect your car and not haggle and lie to you very bad experience with this company

Avoid this place at all costs.

I took my Fiat 500 in to change a tyre. When I went back to collect my car the wheel cap was missing from the wheel as well as a pair of wellington boots and a pair of brand new Skechers from the boot. My alloy wheel had also been changed for a different one. My set of shiny wheel nut changers in the front passenger seat had also been replaced with an old set. When I complained I was made to feel that the customer was in the wrong. My complaint was not taken seriously. I was supposed to have a meeting with the manager on Tuesday 29th of April but having read so many negative reviews here about Trent I think pursuing my complaint will be a complete waste of my time 😭😭😭

Wish I had read the reviews before as I thought they were a kosher company. They missold an item (pure misrepresentation) - much older than the one agreed with more mileage and when it arrived it was also faulty. They seem to think misrepresentation and selling faulty items is OK - we shall see as they will be taken to the Ombudsmen as they are clearly rip off merchants. Also being reported to Trading Standards.

Can't even be bothered to reply - what a poor company. This 'family business' has lost all direction. I wonder what Mr Trent would say were he still with us next year in their centenary year.

About a month ago i bought a dpf through the phone and when i ordered, i asked what is the return policy in case there’s a problem. The answer was “you got 30 days to return it”.
My mechanic came back to me and said the part is not fitting, so i had to return it.
I went to the poole branch, returned and got an invoice for the amount i paid. I followed the return in my banking and i realised they refunded me 62£ less. I called the sales team and they said i have been charged a restocking fee, which nobody told me about, neither the lady on the phone or the man at the branch. I find it appalling as the part was not the right one and the lady on the phone didn’t tell me about the restocking fee.

Offered a qoute then changed the qoute the day before collection I explained the access restrictions but explained you could still get a 7 car transporter down the lane to be called on collection day to say the transporter can't get down there.

Then they say they need photos of the vehicle to be able to reqoute again. Nothings changed in the last 48 hours!

Will never bother with a bigger company again i would prefer to sell to a smaller company and take slightly less money for it!

We were looking for a tailgate for our vandalised Astravan and called a few scrap merchants who were advertising availability. Calling Trent’s was a breath of fresh air! The lady I spoke to was both helpful and professional and the gentleman my partner talked with referred us to an alternative salvage operator who supplied me part we needed. Full marks for both efficiency and information. Thank you so much.

As a pre-existing customer I enquired on a set of wheels and tyres which were advertised with an extremely strong price. I was advised the tyres had between 5 and 6mm of tread, no repairs and "wouldn't be disappointed".

The order arrived and the rims were as described however the tyres have multiple repairs and are badly shouldered to below 3mm of tread. I reached out to Charles Trent and was advised the tyres were as described and there was nothing they would do.

As the tyres were effectively scrap and worthless, I challenged this with CT as the price I paid was £360 more than similar rims with no tyres at all; asking for a proportional refund. This however was rejected by CT management. Since then there has been no further communication and I feel totally ripped off. I was left with no choice but to purchase alternative tyres at a huge loss.

I am a pre-existing CT customer and sadly have no confidence in this company. They pose as a proper business however they are no better than the lowest of the low.

I used to Charles Trent after struggling to find parts for my Skoda kodiaq. I dealt with Sophie who was an absolute delight to work with, excellent price, excellent customer service and parts arrived within 2 working days. Absolutely delighted with the entire process.

Horrible experience I sold them a car for scrap and they try offer me on collection 60 %of agreed price Beware of this cowboys !

Purchased a rear light from this company on ebay which was described as LED.
Was put to the inconvenience of having to return the item at my own expense (£12) as it wasn't LED.
Company accused me of not registering my vehicle number with them to check if the item fitted,(which I had) so I would have to pay the return postage.
So It cost me £12 for their mistake !
Another pensioner robbed !

bought a sat nav unit from them off ebay and it was advertised with £20 discount that did not apply on checkout so contacted them and asked for the £20 and was told nothing to do with them and said i had to contact ebay!
it also came without an sd card so the nav doesnt work and when asked about this was ignored! shocking service from a so called reputable breaker

We have dealt with them multiple times. They are one of the best, always willing to help,always going beyond and above, providing excellenct customer service.

Filled in the online form for my vivaro van to be collected only to be a told a day before collection that they no longer take vans.

Went into get 2 different size part worn tyres of a 15" and a 16" to be greated by the most unhelpful grumpy woman that I have had the pleasure of crossing paths. Used to find trents helpful but I would rather drive to symonds out shaftesbury now where they appreciate their customers and don't waste peoples time.

All in all won't be using trents again and advise anyone selling a car or van to shop around because trents no longer pay anywhere near the best and seem to like to mess you around and knock you for the price they say online. Although being messed around seems I had a lucky escape.

Put in for a scrap car quote online 5pm, contacted me by 12pm the next day to confirm price (was half of what was quoted online but I did expect this). Quote accepted as although was half of what was quoted was still £500 higher than competitors. Took a few pics of car as they decided they’ll auction rather than scrap and they confirmed happy with price offered. Arranged a collection date, email sent the day before to confirm still going ahead. Contacted an hour before arrival by the lovely chap who was collecting. Quick and easy handover. Paid for same day money transfer and money was in my account 2 hours later. Couldn’t have asked for a better service.
Spoke to 3 people on the customer service line while sorting this out, each and every one was polite (had a very different experience with a competition whose customer service were not at this level).

I needed 1 obscure and seemingly uncommon part which they had in stock. They seemed very efficient in checking compatibility and the price beat 3 other breakers by a good margin. Postage was included, very well packaged and delivery by DPD extremely quick. My only tiny gripe is that it can take a while to get through on the phone, but once they are there they are extremely helpful.

Bought a gearbox from this company which was told was in working order however first it arrived full of water so not sure if it was left outside or pressure washed off but I drained it out and had the gearbox fitted just received the car back to find it has the same loud whine that the car previously had before the other gearbox blew up not very happy.

WARNING! Be careful if selling your car to this company. They will offer you a price and then charge you for ridiculous things at the point of collection. I was charged for a missing parcel shelf despite me never having a parcel shelf, no mention of the need for my car to have one during phone/email communication with them, and despite the fact that the car was being stripped down for parts. Apparently my car was deemed to be incomplete without a parcel shelf!

Great customer service a easy to use, will definitely use again and delivery charge not to expensive
