I had my Lasik surgery at Optimax in July of last year, and it has honestly been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. After living with glasses and contacts for so long, having clear vision from the moment I wake up is still an amazing feeling.

The team at Optimax was professional and reassuring from the initial consultation all the way through to the post-op check-ups. They took the time to explain the procedure in detail, which really helped calm my nerves on the day. The surgery itself was much quicker than I anticipated, and the recovery was smooth.

Nearly a year later, my vision is still crystal clear. If you’re considering laser eye surgery, I can’t recommend the team at Optimax enough, they truly know what they’re doing!

Four years ago I had my first cataract operation with Optimax in Newton Abbott. Despite the travel involved, I had no doubt where I would go for my second operation. A virtually painless experience with no aftereffects and I’m back to 20/20 vision after years of blurry vision. I can’t speak too highly of the staff and doctors. I attended an appointment on Saurday, very convienient for me.
My vision was expertly assessed over my 2.5hours appointment. Molina was my optician and she was excellent. Listened to my concerns offered advice and sorted out the next step in my treatment. Optimax is truly amazing! The surgeon I choose Dr Mehul Damani has an exceptional record of performing successful laser eye surgery with over 99 percent receiving excellent results. This is why I chose him specifically. He explained everything very perfectly in the telephone consultation and was clearly the best of the best in his field. The surgery was very easy and over very fast. They made me feel totally comfortable throughout the surgery. I currently have 20:20 vision and can see without glasses or contact lenses. Also the surgery was at a discount price and I couldn’t believe just how much of a bargain this surgery was which was much lower then even the original price and what any other place was offering. The amount I will save on contact lenses, contact lens solution and glasses over the next 10 years alone will easily cover what I paid. Life without glasses is a dream come true. Also the optician Poonam and the team members who I saw such as Kieron and Yasmin are all very friendly and take the time and effort to explain everything and help you as best as they can. Every appointment I had I was greeted and treated in such a friendly nice and pleasant way which made the process very nice and easy for me. The level of professionalism by the team and friendliness is amazing and I would 100 percent recommend this to anyone . Optimax truly make you feel comfortable and at ease throughout the whole procedure and will go the extra mile to make you feel assured and informed of everything every step of the way. I had ICL (implantable collamer lens) surgery after having detailed, frank and honest surgeon assessment with the laser surgeon. I’m so pleased with every member of staff and the surgery itself is weirdly painless and under 10 minutes per eye. Vision was smeary for only two days and after that it’s been great ever since. So if you’re unsuitable for Laser treatment, there is another way!

Felt at ease as soon as I’d had my initial consultation and knew I wanted to go ahead. I’m -3.5 in both eyes and have worn contact lenses and glasses for the last 20+ years. I’m currently 34 and had my procedure done yesterday and I can already say it’s changed my life. I had the procedure at 4pm yesterday, I was in there for no longer than 15minutes having the actual procedure and by 8pm I could see so clearly. From the consultation through to treatment, I've been so happy and impressed with the service I've received from Optimax. All the staff are lovely, welcoming and happy to chat and answer all questions you might have. It feels super relaxed in the Cardiff branch, with free tea and coffee. It genuinely feels like you're part of something special there.

On the day of my surgery, I found out that they book in a few people at a time so that you have people going through the same thing as you to chat to while you're waiting. I was really nervous at first, mainly because of the YouTube videos I made the mistake of watching (the algorithm likes to scare you for some reason) but found that having other people in the same position as me really helpful and comforting. I went there by myself but didn't feel alone, and got a taxi back home, which the staff were happy to help with if I needed it.

The surgery itself was fine - uncomfortable when the suction/pressure is applied to each eye to do the first part of the procedure but this doesn't last long. I was in there for maybe 10 minutes and came out being able to see immediately, all be it a bit hazy and shaky, so the staff got me a delicious hot chocolate which was lovely.

The worst part was feeling like I was chopping onions in the taxi home - burning and stinging and streaming eyes, which made me want to keep them shut, but I knew that was normal and my taxi driver was super lovely so I felt safe. I took painkillers, put in the numbing drops provided and had a nap when I got home. When I woke up the stinging was gone. I was able to watch TV with my sunglasses on, and had a lovely relaxed evening.

The next day I came in for a check up, wasn't in there very long but was told I can drive and have 20/20 vision. My right eye has more bruising than the left and feels a little sore but that's completely normal too. I'm just amazed that I can see so well already, and it's not been 24 hours!

For anyone reading this - do your research and get to know what the procedure involves so you're prepared, avoid the "it ruined my life" videos because you won't be accepted for surgery if you're not suitable and they are VERY thorough about this (I had dry eyes which improved with treatment, so was rejected at first but then was approved when my eyes were healthier), and don't hesitate to choose Optimax for your surgery. There's no pain during the procedure, and afterwards just napping with some numbing drops will sort you out. I've read and been told by many people they'd have it done again in a heartbeat. I now know what they mean - it's nowhere near as unpleasant or uncomfortable as I expected, and can't emphasise enough how amazing the service has been at Optimax.

I decided to have LASIK eye surgery with Optimax after being recommended by a friend. I had my first consultation with Optimax Glasgow in November 2025 and underwent LASIK surgery in mid-January 2026. The initial consultations and reviews were handled by Diana, Nicola, Lauren, and Larraine, who were all excellent and provided me with all the information needed to make the final decision to proceed with the surgery.

My main reason for getting LASIK was my eyes becoming intolerant to eye contacts due to developing a slight dry eye later in life, which I thought might also prevent me from receiving LASIK. The staff at Optimax listened to my concerns and even offered me additional appointments prior to the surgery to have a deeper look at my dry eye—at no extra cost to myself. With their advice, such as using drops and hot compresses, I managed to improve my dry eye prior to the surgery.

Surgery was handled by Mr. Malcolm Samuel and his team, who were also excellent. On surgery day, Mr. Samuel took extra time to account for my unique deep-set eyes structure, which I greatly appreciated and helped to calm my nerves before and during the surgery. I’m unsure of the names of the other members of his team, but I’m also very grateful to all of them.

I’m very pleased with the results from the surgery. I went from having a -5.00 prescription in both eyes to having 20/20 vision. I’m very thankful to all the members of Optimax in Glasgow, including those whose names I can’t remember. I recommend Optimax particularly to those who are worried about dry eye or their complex eye structure.

I had RLE surgery with Optimax in August 2025. My appointments were all at the Brighton branch apart from the surgery itself which was at Harley Street in London.
Every member of staff I came into contact with on every appointment was exceptional. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming and they remember you every time which makes such a difference.
The surgical team were also so nice and really put you at your ease.
I was also impressed that I never experienced any pressure to proceed or to go for the more expensive option, I was simply advised of my options and the pros and cons which I really appreciated.
My final result is incredible and I have great vision at all distances.
