From start to finish New Plymouth staff were absolutely amazing. Robyn was very helpful and caring and guided me through everything. The ladies Tiffany, Jo and Lorraine were so efficient and are definitely an asset to the company. They showed lots of care and were very respectful while at my home. I was very impressed at how quick they worked. Simon and the guys were also very nice to deal with. I highly recommend anyone moving to contact them. You won't be disappointed. Darren, Logan and Steven were easy to deal with when packing up the house, efficient and courteous, and took my disability into account. they were joined by Joseph on Friday 11/04/2025 for the move into our new house and made sure I was looked after. Can't recommend them highly enough.

Troy and her team of Ollie, Cons, Stig, Chloe, Steve I, Steve H, Elium, Wirihana and Mikayla did a fantantic job of safely packing delicate china, a huge collection of books, garden pots, and a lifetime of collected ‘things’. Then they had to move it off our steep property with 40 steps down a long path and onto two trucks. Highly competent and trustworthy team effort. A huge thankyou.

We are still waiting on our container being shipped. They have had our good since January, we were told apon paying for the container that is would be shipped 29th January. We send an email today looking for an update,only to be told our container is still in Wellington with no date to ship WTF really. Unacceptable.. NZ mover's and NZ van lines. BEWARE

We relocated Hamilton to Nelson recently. I wish to sing the praises of our Auckland truck driver who packed our furniture etc onto the truck in Hamilton and delivered it to Richmond. You were Awesome! An extremely great communicator, diligent worker, very thoughtful - great packer of the truck and unloader. The two Nelson crew that helped with the unloading and putting furniture etc in the house - Gavin and Adam, you worked so great together and along with the driver. It was clockwork and very professional. All the beds were put together - such a relief, when you have a house full of furniture and boxes. Our driver, unfortunately forgot his name, was amazing, when everything was in the house, he ensured our lounge was set up with the lounge suite, coffee tables etc, so that we had a place to relax with a cup of tea. That's impressive when you're exhausted with the unloading and where to start unpacking etc At this stage unable to review on the packing of our goods.

This is a great relocation company! Good and friendly customer service, excellent wrapping and packing. All our personal belongings were delivered in good order after a long journey from New Zealand to Austria.

This review relates to the fourth engagement I have had with Van Lines over approximately 20 years.

I was entirely satisfied with the service I received on the first three occasions, however the standards of Van Lines appears to have dropped disasterously since my previous move approximately ten years before.

I suspect that some of the packers were picked up off the side of the road or were relatives with no prior experience. Food was packed with linen and items from one room were mixed with unlikely items from another. Damage was sustained on several items. One particular item, an antique lou table, I went to great lengths to protect the polished top, and when meeting with the crew, made special mention that it needed extra protection and should be treated with extreme care. It arrived with the top not level, and the driver stated that the "packer" had assumed that the top would unscrew from the base and had forced it unscrewed!
A bedroom ceiling light fitting was broken, and it was hidden in a wardrobe and nothing was said until I queried it.

My telephone complaints to Van Lines met with no interest or response. And this was for a move costing approximately $18,000, Gisborne to Oamaru.
I have nothing but compliments for the unpacking crew from Dunedin, but the packing crew had rank amateurs, and the service I received suffered markedly as a result

I could continue with many more examples, but wish to warn other potential sufferers that this is a moving company to avoid at all costs - and please remember that I had previously used the company three times previously.

I would give them 6 stars if I could! NZ Van Lines not only went above and beyond to get me my furniture before Christmas but worked so hard to deliver in the heat - absolutely the kindest honest people too- thank you guys for making my Xmas miracle happen!

My initial contact with NZ Vanlines was with Mr Matthew Woodley. He took a few calls and many questions from me and each time he answered promptly, was so helpful and polite and if he did need to get to me he did so as expected. He is a gift to that business.The other New Zealand Vanlines/ Movers Dunedin staff were excellent as well,from Debbie in Christchurch office to Candice in Dunedin and well as the three guys who delivered my goods who were all very polite and efficient. I was very happy with the service that I received with moving my car and household items from Australia to Dunedin.

I just recently relocated to Tauranga NZ. My furniture arrived on time. The crew ,Hiks, Christian and Jacob Wykes did an awesome job of placing and unwrapping most of my furniture. Thank you, guys, for a stress-free day.

NZ Vanlines: Christchurch Crew - Exceptional Service

I previously wrote a review for the NZ Vanlines team who helped move my mother’s belongings from her home, but I feel absolutely obliged to commend the Christchurch crew who completed the journey. Moving is undoubtedly one of the most stressful experiences, yet Jet, Levy, Kieran, Lorraine, and Glen made it surprisingly seamless and enjoyable.

The Christchurch team was phenomenal. I felt like I hit the jackpot with the Southland movers, and I was thrilled to find the same level of excellence continued with this team. They were professional, incredibly personable, patient, and kind. Every interaction reminded me that I was in good hands, and they genuinely took the weight of the experience off our shoulders.

When we researched moving companies, NZ Vanlines was mid-range in terms of cost, but their service made every dollar worth it. They went the extra mile by coming to visit my mum beforehand, going over every detail in person to ensure a smooth move.

Thank you, Jet, Levy, Kieran, Lorraine, and Glen, for your hard work, dedication, and for making this transition not only stress-free but also enjoyable. I highly recommend NZ Vanlines to anyone in need of professional, reliable, and friendly movers!

Our 44 cartons of household goods and possessions from UK were promptly delivered on the day, by Joe and Bri, who made short work of carrying them up a very steep driveway, into the garage.
They were friendly, helpful, speedy and efficient.
Great job all round. Would recommend and definitely use NZ Vanlines again.

Big shout out to Dave, Shane and George for their efforts in packing and moving our small place in Palmerston North. The team were very friendly and professional, having all our stuff packed and on their truck in a couple of hours. Very pleased with how it all went, as it allowed us to hit the road early 😊

Not a great customer experience from NZVL.
We unfortunately had Van Lines as our New Zealand agent when we shipped our household contents from Europe recently.
Our ship arrived into Wellington and a week later contacted VL to see when it would be delivered to our house. We were told post customs approval, we wouldn’t be a priority and have to wait our turn. Not a what we were expecting.
Fast forward 7 weeks and many phone calls, Emails and paying our final invoice later, a date was given.
The day prior we were told the truck with our possessions would arrive around 9. All ready for them the next day and a no show at 9. No word from VL so rang at 10.15 to be curtly told that we got the time wrong and they wouldn’t be there till 11. 11.30 they arrived and the unloaders promptly had a smoke break as they had travelled so far - our house is approximately 20kms from Wellington!
We were given instructions to tick boxes read out on a sheet supplied, asked which room they were to be transferred to and they would place in that room.
Slow going as the one lifting the boxes from the truck said he had a knee injury and couldn’t lift them very far. Not sure why he was even working? A second said he had a dodgy back and soon my husband had to start lifting boxes as by 1pm not much progress had been made.
Nearly 5pm and a mass of boxes and rubbish resulted. We were told to flatten the boxes and they would call & arrange collection in a weeks time (3 weeks as they turned up unannounced!).
All in all a disappointing experience and not the one expected having paid thousands of Euros and one we were looking to receiving only to feel very deflated.

A big thanks to Durell Henare and Stephen Hoani who efficiently moved house hold contents for us. They were courteous and very professional in the way they managed our shift. We certainly recommend Durell and Stephen for anyone else who needs their service.
