Scott Place, Lichfield
Scott Place, Lichfield, WS13 6EX, is a retirement complex owned by McCarthy & Stone.
It is excellently situated in the centre of the lovely city of Lichfield. Amenities such as supermarkets, pharmacies, post office, banks, butchers and some interesting shops are all within walking distance. Also available nearby are a health centre, bus and railway stations, theatre, library and the great medieval cathedral. Inspite of being in the centre of the city, Scott Place is surrounded by greenery, notably Stowe Fields and Pool and Beacon Park is a short walk away.
The apartments are well planned and equipped, heat and noise insulated and comfortable. The communal areas include a lounge, garden with patio and a car park.
The complex is managed by Aideen, a delightful house manager, who joined about two years ago. The finances and maintenance are managed by McCarthy and Stone in conjunction with the house manager and homeowners.

Mum and Dad have been living in their…
Mum and Dad have been living in their McCarthy Stone apartment, Burton Joyce, for over two years now and have never been happier. I feel confident that they are in a safe environment both in terms of security and wellbeing. The house manager, Kelly is always there with a friendly face and an efficient attitude to sorting out any problems and varied events. Communal areas are clean, well maintained and stylishly decorated.
I am so grateful to have found them such a lovely home that they absolutely love.

Bygate Court, Whitley Bay near Newcastle.
My wife and I moved into 19 Bygate Court in Whitley Bay near Newcastle in April 2026. Our initial impression during the initial viewing prior to purchase and subsequently after we had moved in was of a retirement facility that was of a very high standard which was maintained and operated to similar standards.
We have been particularly impressed by the House Manager, Mrs Deryn Johnson, whose mission in life appears to be to keep the owners of the apartments happy by making sure that the high standards are continuously achieved. She ensures that the property and the surrounding gardens are properly maintained and that the communal areas, which are the public face of the facility, are kept immaculately clean.
She is always available during her normal working hours to help the residents with any problems they may have and will always lend a sympathetic ear. She also organises and attends various functions such as coffee mornings, visits by local fire brigade and the police to provide advice to the residents, the book club, birthday and wedding aniversaries and visits to local attractions.
In conclusion, Bygate Court is well maintained and well run retirement facility, largely due to the efforts of the House Manager.

1 Year on in Whyburn Court
My mum and dad have been living in Whyburn Court for just over a year now and it has changed there lives in every possible way. Jane who is the manager is phenomenal and deserves all the praise McCarthy Stone can give her. She is such a kind, genuine and wonderful lady and not just my family but all the residents love her. When you contemplate moving into a retirement complex you always have moments when you think will Jane be like this when I move in and not just when she is showing you around. Didn't need to worry at all, this lady is first class and you can see her dedication not just to the job but also the interest in the residents but the families who visit. My mum and dad have thrived since moving in and sometimes I have trouble getting to see them with all the activities and events that are put on!! The social aspect of living in these complexes is brilliant, you can do as much or as little as you want fully knowing if you want to mingle you can do. Jane sorts out all events and always does a great job with the organisation, preparation and staying over her time to get it all prepared where required. All my dad does when I see him is tells me about the laughs he has in there and the list of stories is endless. I cannot thank Jane and these types of retirement complexes enough for truly making my mum and dad so happy, they are like teenagers again, thanks a million.

Living at Wisteria Place
My review is not about McCarthy Stone in general, it's about Wisteria Place in Bulcote, Nottingham.
There is a lovely friendly atmosphere here with various activities each week.
I am rather sad that our House Manager, Kelly Jefford, is leaving though wish her well in her new role.
I have always found her really friendly & most helpful. In addition she has organised some special events including a Murder Mystery evening & a Horse Race evening which were most enjoyable plus made pie and pud lunches for anyone wishing to attend on a number of occasions.
Kelly also chose two Trusted Homeowners, Peggy and Julie, who both greatly contribute to the life here and deserve our thanks.

My Mother in law was in need of a…
My Mother in law was in need of a stable and secure place to live, where my wife and I could be at peace, knowing she was safe and sound.
We looked at a few places and settled on Stour Park in Blandford.
What a delightful place, the site manger whose name is Dahlia, has been so welcoming and understanding, in every aspect of the purchase and move. She arranges daily activities for the residents and looks in on those who are a little shy to get involved, which is incredibly loving and a comfort to my family.
This facility is superb in every way, it’s not an investment for future financial gain, it’s an investment in peace of mind for the whole family, for her remaining days.
I cannot recommend Mcarthy and Stone enough, they made the move and transition so easy, which at this time of life is worth more than any investment.

The McCarthy & Stone sales manager Bobby Juttla needs a medal; his service and attention to detail are astoundingly good. He went far above and beyond my expectations in assisting my parents with renting a new apartment. This was super complicated due to their arrival from Spain and Bobby helped with furniture deliveries and so much information that helped me set up their new home.
The apartments at Gentian Place Aylesbury are beautiful and the friendly Lounge and Dining room are like a really nice hotel.

Waveney Place, Harleston, Norfolk
Waveney Place, Harleston: When I found myself with a house I no longer wanted to own, stairs that were proving difficult, and a garden that had already been handed over to a gardener, I knew it was time to look for other accommodation! Lady luck was smiling when I found this remarkable McCarthy and Stone complex, there are forty flats here, with a couple that are vacant. My apartment is spacious but compact - just perfect!
I have a rollator, which I would never have had before my move because I seldom left my house, but I now walk into town regularly, it is 10-15 minutes each way; the doctor's surgery, dentist, bus-stops for nearby towns, the library, cafes, and numerous individual shops of all sorts, are all close.
The residents are so caring and friendly that I was totally at home within a couple of weeks, and there are so many events arranged that my son thinks I go to a party every week (I do, nearly).
The bonus for us all is that we have a fantastic House Manager, Luci, she is kind and caring, is willing to do almost anything we ask of her, and do it with a smile! She never finds anything too much trouble and we love her.
This really has been the best move I could have made.

Lyle Court in Edinburgh is the perfect place for my father to live
The staff at Lyle Court are friendly, professional and caring which is exactly what I'd want for my 92 year old father who's been a resident for over 6 years. He has his own flat within an assisted building giving him freedom, security and company.

I have lived in two McCarthy& Stone…
I have lived in two McCarthy& Stone developments- 8years at Paxton Court Tenby which is a beautiful seaside town. Jackie the House Manager came at the opening and is still there. She made Paxton Court a very happy place to live.
Now I am at Eadhelm Court Edenbridge. Having decided to move nearer my family.I looked at other retirement properties and none compared with McCarthy& Stone. Eadhelm Court is a very pleasant development and we have a new recently appointed House Manager who is very friendly and helpful. She is doing so much to enhance the life of the residents .
