Car went in for MOT our Rennee Renault and failed so my husband was telephoned and everything was explained what needed doing and new parts etc we were given option to just pk up etc but work needed doing so went ahead.Same day call to say parts are ordered and Car will be ready nxt day.Phone call next day from Gentleman to say car all sorted and we can pick up.Excellent reliable service & very Polite Staff throughout.

AVOID THIS AUTOCENTRE
DO NOT GO TO THIS AUTOCENTRE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES - NO JOKE.
I went to this autocentre in Hucknall just down the road from me as my air conditioning was not working. They offered to do a “Health Check” of my vehicle before a specific diagnostic of the problem the latter of which cost me £90. They told me that the fan for my air-con needed replacing which would have cost me around £512 and a new resistor for this which would have cost over £200 (according to them). On top of this as a result from their findings of the so-called Health Check, they found a myriad of other “problems” such as my auxiliary belt which they said needed replacing as well as the battery which was working fine. All of these problems would have costed over £2000 to fix. The funny thing was I had a service and MOT done the previous weekend through my girlfriend’s brother with a mechanic he used to work with who was honest and reliable. Now, according to his MOT, I needed both rear tyres replacing as well as one of the rear shock absorbers which was leaking a bit, but my car passed OK. Lindley’s also identified these particular problems as well as all the others. So, I went back to my girlfriend’s brother who took one look at my car and said what Lindley’s said was utter BS. He even looked at the auxiliary belt and said that it was fine and didn’t need replacing. Now my girlfriend’s brother is a trained mechanic, and I consider him to be very knowledgeable and reliable not like Lindley’s it seems. In regards to my air-con problem, he pointed me in the direction of another colleague who has a company called SupaKool in Leicester who did a magnificent job in fixing it for just £180. The owner bought a new fan with the resistor actually built in for just £100 brand new. Lindley’s said that these were 2 separate components?!? So, remember do not go to Lindley’s as they are the embodiment of rip-off car mechanics.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We’re genuinely sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your experience, and we do understand how frustrating it can be when vehicle repairs turn out differently to what you expected.
We’d like to provide some clarity around our findings and processes, as transparency is very important to us.
You have been a customer with us for around 18 months and have used us on several occasions for MOTs, servicing and repairs, so it’s particularly disappointing to hear that this visit has left you feeling this way.
With regards to the air conditioning issue, the parts required were not available from our usual aftermarket suppliers. In these situations, we have to contact the main dealer for original equipment parts. While this does increase the cost, we do not fit second-hand or unofficially sourced components, as our insurance and quality standards don’t allow for this. The majority of the quoted cost related to the parts themselves rather than labour.
Regarding the fan and resistor, our diagnosis and pricing were based on manufacturer information for your vehicle. Some aftermarket solutions may differ, but we can only quote for parts that we are able to source from approved suppliers.
During the vehicle health check, we highlighted several items that we would recommend addressing based on their condition at the time of inspection. These were categorised according to urgency to help you decide what, if anything, you wished to proceed with. The auxiliary belt was beginning to show signs of wear, and the battery did not pass a voltage/load test. Both findings were supported by photographic evidence included in your report, which we’re always happy to resend or discuss in more detail.
We fully respect your decision to seek a second opinion and have the work carried out elsewhere, and we’re pleased that your air conditioning issue has since been resolved.
