Seriously… customer service & marketing needs help

Seriously, I guess we only write reviews when bad service. But, Aer Lingus after I have been in contact with Sophia has gone quiet! They were insistent on my resending time and time again my details, then nothing . I have two vouchers with them to use for Barbados then they changed their minds that they weren’t flying from Manchester (this was two days after I had to convert to vouchers) I even spoke on the phone for this , should have been told as I only fly back out to Barbados as my old home so vouchers for over £1000 are no use as I am not interested in local flights. I even offered to use your vouchers to upgrade , silence. Please have the decency to respond?

Also had you employed a decent marketing manager you would have found that more people would have done transatlantic from Manchester! But no one knew! I think I told more people than you did! So many people were amazed and said that they would book! So if you need a decent marketing manager, please let me know! I would have filled every plane to Barbados and New York !

Website is the WORST seen to date

Website is the WORST seen to date . No close second place. Changing flight on website is impssible. Keep getting a : "No flights available for the dates selected
Please check our timetable for more information." msg. EVEN THO, when I pretend to make a new booking on the same date both flight s are half empty. Hard to imagine but telephone contact is EVEN WORSE. We've spent literally 3hours and 37 min (we timed it)trying to get thru. Nobody even answers the phone, just hour after hour of waiting for someone to pick up. Just pay the money and book Delta.

Criminal

It is so simple to explain. Their customer service set up is deliberately obstructive to make life difficult for passengers and therefore you give up. I am wasting hours of valuable time and phone calls (5 hours) to get a refund that I am entitled to because of their 4 hour schedule change. They are a disgrace. The senior management of this company should be held accountable. I was owed £100.00 some years ago which I was assured I would receive. They sent it as a voucher during covid with a one year expiry. Never got to use it. They are a disgrace.

Compensation for delay rejected - illigal

Flight was delayed from Dublin to Southampton by almost 6 hours, we landed more than 5 hours later than we should have. However when I submitted the compensation claim, Aer Lingus rejected with the reason given as the flight landing less than 3 hours from the scheduled time - this is an absolute lie. I've logged a complaint 3 months ago, but they ignored it, I got a notification it was logged but no response. What they are doing is illegal. On their website they simply say they are not part of an alternative dispute scheme, so basically trying to get you to just accept their lies and illegal actions.

Aer Lingus is the most underated airline

Aer Lingus is the most underated airline. It is amazing. I fly it 3+ times a year and have never had a bad experience. There the nicest flight crew ever, and are always happy to help. Their transatlantic flights is where they shine. They offer tea, coffee, or water every hour free of charge. Depending on the length of your flight (transatlantic) you get multiple meals (i got 2 on my 6h30min flight from dublin to boston) and the food is amazing, not only the free meal and tea etc. They serve one alcoholic drink free of charge or a soft drink. There european flights arent as great (i would say half way between easy jet and emirates). They dont give anything free of charge during the flight but do offer a free 10kg check in. I also find that aer lingus ends up being more affordable then ryanair alot of the time. Amd you get to fly from Terminal 2 with aer lingus at dublin

Mickey Mouse Airline - not to be taken seriously

For the second time in the same booking these imbeciles mysteriously canceled our flights. These guys are idiots! Unfortunately American Airlines has partnered with these muppets, which is my main issue. AA, please note, your reputation is being tarnished by these amateurs. To be fair to AA, they sorted the issue out, on both occasions. Shame about the idiots at Aer Lingus.

This is the worse bizclass I have been on

This is the worse bizclass I have endured in many years. Emirates/United/Delta/American/Etihad/Qatar/Singapore Airlines are way way ahead of EI bizclass. The seat is crap for getting comfortable. I would strongly suggest using the single seat row (Config-narrow body style) is 2-2, 1-1, 2-2, 1-1, 2-2, 1-1, 2-2 - 16 seats. The food was 3 star. On outbound sector EWR-DUB they ran out of dessert options and my wife and I seated half way up bizclass, I suspect those behind me had the same fate. How can an airline run out of options when only 50% of cabin left. At LHR for return leg over DUB we not only checked ourselves in but had to produce baggage tags and place on our suitcases. This is pathetic for business class. The cabin crew were very good on all 4 sectors. The "lull" in service EWR-DUB after starter, was 20 minutes before main course came. IFE service was very good and plenty of opitions. If I have choice between EI and another bizclass option, I would not choose EI.

£339 per person to fly 60ish miles from Belfast to Glasgow approx. £339! Due to a disgrace in management and customer service and miscommunication. This is by far the worst ever experience from an ‘airline’. DONT DO IT FOLKS

Shocking customer service, repeatedly

Shocking customer service. Pre booked seats and paid for them for our family holiday. Got on board and told they weren't booked and would have to sit in assigned seats. I wasn't letting our child sit on my their own for a 5 hour flight with strangers either side. Eventually the cabin crew sorted for my wife to sit next to our child. This was July 2025. It's now March 2026. I've been contacting Aer Lingus since for at least a refund and it's still being kicked down the road. No proper contact, getting emails from no-reply email addresses. Absolutely pathetic. Worse than any budget airline and I travel very frequently.
Update.
April 12 2026, still getting the generic no-reply emails for this. Absolutely pathetic. Imagine going from the national airline, supposed to have pride in itself to this, the worst reviews I've ever seen on Trustpilot. To think, when you want to leave a review, the first this you see is 1 star is the average for this airline. Management should be ashamed of themselves.

I paid 4,239 euros for 2 business class…Aer Lingus lied to me and put me 2 of the worst seats on the Boston to Miami flight.

I paid 4,239 euros for 2 business class with Aer Lingus for flights from Dublin to Boston to Miami and then Miami to London to Dublin home. I received booking confirmation from Aer Lingus that all flights were in Business Class. In Boston, we were put in 2 separate seats in the back of the plane with no explanation. I asked IAA to intervene but they basically said "Tough Luck, you take your chance with flights in USA airspace".

I sent IAA the following reply to their pitiful efforts :

"A disgraceful response clearly showing protectionism of the giant airline against the little consumer. I have clearly sent you a copy of the booking sent by Aer Lingus as again attached herein, which clearly states all flights to be "Business Class. Why would I pay 4,239 euros for partial business class, when I could have flown with British Airways from London with business class clearly guaranteed?

You state that only the Aer Lingus trans Atlantic flight is guaranteed business. So, essentially, you pay for business class and then hope that it materialises. Aer Lingus never informed me that there was any doubt that my entire flights would be business class. A kop out, also by IAA - no wonder 83% of Trustpilot reviews of Aer Lingus are the worst score possible."

IAA are a paper tiger dictated to by big brother Aer Lingus. A lesson for me to book with reputable airlines in future.

If you have a flight and everything…

If you have a flight and everything goes to plan Aer Lingus is fine but if you have a problem and you need Customer Care you have a big problem. Their customer care is horrendously bad if you make a phone call you could be waiting sometimes up to one hour for someone to answer you I have being trying for 12 months now to resolve an issue with Aer Lingus and still they refuse to give me my information. Our passport were stolen on a flight to Marrakesh which meant we were detained in Marrakesh airport for two days without luggage and it was a horrible experience. For both myself and my husband who has Parkinson’s and who needs a lot of sleep and as little anxiety as possible I have been asking Aer Lingus for confirmation that we flew on an Aer Lingus flight back to Dublin which was organised between Marrakesh airport authorities and Aer Lingus but to date they have refused to give me my information and have stopped me from claiming the loss of my Holiday from my insurance company. I have opened a minimum of 15 to 20 new cases with Aer Lingus and not once have I ever received the correct information from Aer Lingus, we will never travel with them again.

Terrible service

Terrible service. Change your flights significantly and then when you ask for a cancellation (well within your rights), they steal money from you. Disgusting service coupled with rude staff. This is the first and last time I will ever use aer lingus. A horrible airline.

Great Service by Aerlingus

We had a great experience with Aer Lingus on our return flight from Madrid to Dublin. My daughter was sick and the staff on board were so kind and helpful, provided us with ginger ale and a bottle of water. We felt very well taken care off. Pilot was lovely too, kept as well informed throughout the flight. There was turbulence due to the weather, as we landed which we were notified about well in advance.

Overall good but connection at Dublin, a nightmare.

We flew from Manchester to Dublin and then onto JFK and return. Overall the flight was good, food some of the best I’ve had on a plane, seat space felt a bit cramped compared to other airlines, and heading from Manchester to Dublin the recline was faulty on the seat and the seat wouldn’t sit upright and which I reported when staff continually asked me to raise my seat for take off and landing.

The downside was the first flight from Manchester to Dublin, we were scheduled to have 1hr 25 between landing in Dublin and flying to New York which felt tight but Aer Lingus scheduled the flight and assured us this was acceptable. Plane was an hour late leaving Manchester and the gate closed for our Dublin flight before we’d even got off the plane. We rushed off the plane to head to the US border / security to met by Aer Lingus staff shouting “RUN” at the top of their voices, literally yelling that the US border was being closed and we were going to miss it. This upset my children and made for a very stressful experience, it wasn’t just one member of staff, it was all of them. We’re a fit family and literally had to sprint to the US border to shouts of “RUN” and “YOU’RE GOING TO MISS IT.” I pointed out this was Aer Lingus’s fault, not ours. There was no apology and we were literally the last people to board the JFK flight which was embarrassing, and no explanation by the staff. If there were older people trying to make that flight, they wouldn’t have done. Overall the flight was good, but the connection was a nightmare and thoroughly stressful which made for a stressful outbound journey.

Interestingly the US border guard said the Manchester Aer Lingus flight was the same every week!!!

Special needs people like dogs…

Treat special needs people like dogs bunch of kids having fun not interested in her job all hanging around together having a laugh not one big concerned about how there are client or customer is horrible experience flying with Aer lingus. Nearlly miss my flight to Birmingham. What's the alternative Ryanair there s*** too

Fly with anyone other than this airline!

I wouldn’t fly with them even if it was free. They have the worst customer service of any company I have ever experienced. It basically does not exist! I have been waiting 3 months for them to resolve a case. Shocking level of customer service.
