Wolfburn is a multi-award-winning whisky distillery on the north coast of mainland Scotland. Building work commenced in the summer of 2012 and Wolfburn was reopened after some 150 years in early 2013. In 1821 William Smith founded a distillery on the outskirts of Thurso and named it Wolfburn after the watercourse it drew from, “burn” being the Scots word for stream or small river. The distillery was constructed from hardy local Caithness flagstone and the remains of its foundations can still be seen today. Smith invested heavily in Wolfburn and it quickly became a significant producer of malt whisky – tax records from the early 19th Century show it being the largest distillery in Caithness. In 1826 its annual production was 28,056 “Total Gallons of Proof Spirt” – roughly 125,000 litres. The new Wolfburn distillery building is just a short walk along the burn from the old site towards the sea. A mixture of ex-bourbon casks and ex-Olorosso sherry butts have been used so far in the maturation of this aromatic, mildly smokey delicious Single Malt Scotch Whisky. Our master craftsmen fashion their whisky the same way it has always been made: by hand, using only the finest ingredients, and without haste. Now available worldwide in over 38 countries.

Langship

I purchased two bottles of Langship. Took one to a friend of mine l, Glaswegian and and a knowledgable chap. 🐺 burn isn’t familiar to him but is now on his favourites list. This cask strength monster is a delight on the nose and with a touch of ice or water not only brings down the strength but ups the nose and taste to a smooth beauty. It’s now the fifth in my collection

Excellent friendly tour

Charlie, our tour guide, was a wealth of knowledge. There were 4 of us on the tour. He was happy to answer our many questions.

There was no rush, we enjoyed our drams, I was glad I didn't have to drive home.

It was a great way to spend my 50th birthday afternoon. And I have brought some memories home by buying a bottle!

A present….

Sent this to my brother as a present, and he’s enjoying it. And, it’s definitely one of my favourites.
It was a very last minute decision and it arrived just in the nick of time, so thanks to the fulfilment folks as well!

Order online for a present, it was delivered quickly and safely aand as ordered, quality of the product is excellent as I have previously purchased it for myself and have even visited the distillery in 2022, whilst on holiday in Scotland.

Straightforward transaction

Quick delivery, no problems. Wolfburn made purchasing want I wanted straightforward and without constant pestering and suggestions regarding other products that I “might” want to buy at the same time.
