Bought two bare root roses. Neither have shown any signs of being alive. I've emailed customer service three times with pictures.,.no response. Not only am I truly disappointed in your product, but I'm thoroughly disgusted with your lack of customer service. I see you are connected with Jackson and Perkins and both of your customer service departments suck. I want nothing else to do with either of you. I want my money back that I wasted on your product so I can go to a local Nursery next year and get the flowers I know will produce.

When I received the shipment last year, half of the plants arrived either damaged, dead or dying. One was completely dead, and it was refunded. I asked wayside what to do to save the other plants, and I tried their recommendation, but they didn’t make it. I was also sent two bareroots that looked dead upon arrival, but I planted and no growth. I even waited through the winter to see if they would come up in the spring, and they did not. I have emailed wayside twice in the past four weeks without a response. If you are getting so much business because everyone wants to garden during covid, hire more people to respond to emails. I want a refund, not a credit, because I don’t want to have to go through receiving dead plants again. My order number is WEBWG2013388. I emailed on 5/25 and 6/13.

I ordered two plants from the center both were in stock at the time of the order. When shipped one was not in stock and the one that did ship arrived dead. I have sent them emails and received no response about the dead plant.
It appears now they are making an effort to resolve shipping problems and I was offered a refund. Hopefully it is received.

Bad company. Just plain bad. I ordered and they sent a tiny plant and then wouldn’t respond to my email about it until 4 weeks later. They Offered a refund The day after one of their biggest sale days of the year, so not much was even left. I had to wait another 7 business days To be able to redeem the refund. Their shipping charges are outrageous!!!
I've ordered twice from Wayside since its reorganization a number of years ago. The first time I was so disappointed with the quality of the plants I received that I said never again. But they've upped their hype, put out a nice catalogue and I thought I'd try again. Never again. They ship with foam beads as packing material and this just isn't acceptable anymore as the beads end up going everywhere and many recycling centers won't accept them. The plants arrived in good condition thought the quality was quite variable. One day out of the box and it was apparent that none of the plants had been hardened off and most of the order was beyond platable just three days after arrival. Yes, it was cold but it was clear that these plants, shipped from South Carolina and Califormia to NY we no where near frost tolerant. five other vendors that I buy from online didn't start shipping until two weeks later. I emailed Wayside to explain what happened and no response. Two weeks later I emailed again and again, no response. They claim on their web site to be very busy getting their orders out but I suspect they are very busy dealing with customer complaints.

Do not order from Wayside! I rarely leave negative feedback, but I must warn you that customer service, if you end up needing it, is nonexistent. I ordered 4 plants and they arrived in a single, undamaged box. 3 were in good condition, but the fourth was in horrible shape practically falling apart as I removed it. I emailed Wayside 3 times seeking a replacement or refund for the single plant. I even made the final email “ATTN Eric” based on one on Wayside’s replies to a TrustPilot complaint. Not once did they respond except for the auto respond email saying “We have received your email and will respond.” Something is seriously wrong with this company, and if you give them your money, you’re rolling the dice. I ordered an Elizabeth Magnolia. For $100, Wayside sent me a 30 inch twig with no branches and minimal roots. I'm astounded that they have repeat customers. Even the shipping container was cheap, with the box arriving completely smashed. This was my first time doing business with them. I will not make that mistake again. A complete scam.

My Wayside Gardens order was the worst experience! I ordered 3 plants, at a high price but I wanted that particular Hydrangea, so I was willing to pay. The box arrived with 2 plants and a packing list that had 3 listed and a big pencil check as if the shipment had 3 indeed. There were 2. I have e mailed them 4 times, and sent a certified return receipt letter. They have never responded. I would NEVER order from them again. I should have read the reviews first. They knew exactly what they did, and what a terrible way to conduct business.

I’ve ordered from Wayside Gardens for a few years and have never been disappointed in the plants or service. I recently ordered and received bare root perennials and a wisteria vine. The vine is already producing flower buds and the Bare roots are producing plants. Very satisfied with the quality of plants offered by Wayside!
DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM THEM!!! I ordered six plants (Clethra 'Ruby Spice') $24 dlls each and only got four. The plants look like a tree branch instead of a plant. I contact them via email and requested a refund for the plants that i never received i still have not gotten a response. I also submitted a review in their site on the plant and this was never published.

I have ordered from other mail order garden supply stores and this was absolutely the worst experience. Plant packaged poorly, 3 arrived dead, one badly broken and with mildew. Another died during the summer. Out of 10 plants ordered, only a Hibiscus Purple Pillar seems to be doing okay. When I called to request replacement or refund, they were very uncooperative and pretended not to understand what I was requesting. This spring will tell whether any of their plants survived our relatively mild winter here in the Chicago area. Awful product, horrible customer service. Never again. Stay away.

i called WG and customer rep said id have to pay return shipping and 20% restocking fee told her Id never shop WG again they cant even check temp and zones appropriate shippi g zones!!!

I ordered a couple perennials last summer, to be delivered in September. They were jammed in a box with bent stems and started dying within three days, couldn't revive them. Called Wayside for replacements, but they had none, instead gave me a credit. They can't say whether these plants will ship in the spring, so I may have to wait a whole year to order them again. If they come dead as well, I'm out of luck - have to wait another year. In the meantime, they did not refund my $15 shipping charge, so If I want to go through this ordeal again next year I'm taking another $15 chance that I'll get living plants. I don't like this way of doing business - either a company stands behind their products or they don't. Wayside doesn't. Be careful before placing an order, know the pitfalls of dealing with them on such a one-sided agreement.
Last summer Wayside Gardens had a special for peonies, and I ordered three for the amount of $74.61. They said the peonies would be shipped at my region's planting time which was early September. When Sept. 29 arrived, and no peonies had been shipped. I sent an email to their customer service department asking for a status on my order. I received a confirmation that they received my email, but as of October 6 I have received no response. Winter comes early here in Colorado and when (if ) the peonies ever arrive it will probably be snowing here. I will never order from them again. Inexcusable!

Update on my previous rating for resolution of Jackson& Perkins Strike It Rich rose purchase/replacement. Trustpilot representative, Angela at J&P (Wayside Gardens), and Karen..all responded on Aug. 30th and Sept. 5th. Refund was issued and transaction posted Sept. 6th.
Received a Summer's Gold Kousa Dogwood from Wayside in April 2019. Side branches did not leaf out. Within a few months the tree was dead. Wayside only guarantees a tree for 90 days.
Customer Service "Supervisor " hung up on me.
I have been a customer for over 30 years, but never again.

Wayside Gardens has really gone down hill. I ordered 3 cone flowers and they arrived about 2 inches tall and in very bad condition. Paid over $15 dollars per plant. I put them in the ground and at this point they have done nothing after 3 weeks. I did receive my money back, but really! Also, ordered coreopsis Charlene. It came in a "quart" container. Looked bad and after taking it out of the pot discovered about 2 inches of spindly roots. It too is not performing. Did not get my money back on it. Better to buy at Walmart.

I had ordered two quart size Berberis 'Admiration' shrubs. I knew they would be small, however I was not expecting two extremely tiny totally dried out shrubs with one side to them. Personally, I do not think anyone in the nursery business would call what they shipped me actual shrubs. Most of the branches were brittle and had no leaves. An entire side on one of the shrubs was dead. Just like the two awful shrubs, I had received from their partnering company Jackson Perkins, the other shrub was missing one side and it wasn't in the box, so they knowingly shipped me a shrub missing an entire side! Why would you even ship shrubs looking like that to a paying customer? Do you really think when a customer places an order they want to receive shrubs that are in such poor condition, practically dead with dried out roots and missing half its structure. They refused to publish my honest review on the site, so I am now going to post it everywhere else.
