I ordered a book 5 years ago and did not receive it
I supported a book in 2021, and I received several updates, but I never received the book.
I received an email to change my address because it had been years, and I did.
I received a complimentary download link and was told to wait for the physical.
I then received this message after I followed up on the book: Good afternoon,
Thank you for your email.
Allister Manson and Charles Turner were appointed as Joint Administrators of the company on 10 March 2025.
Please see attached the SIP 16 Letter to Creditors that was issued on our appointment. Within, you will find a Proof of Debt form, please complete and return this to me to lodge a formal claim within the Administration.
Based on current information, we do not envisage a dividend will be payable to unsecured creditors in the Administration however I still encourage you to complete the claim form.
Should you be owed sums from Boundless Publishing Group Limited, please note the company has ceased trading with immediate effect on 1 August 2025. FRP Advisory Trading Limited have been engaged to assist with placing the Company into creditors’ voluntary liquidation. All queries should be directed to......
I ordered a book that has been sent to many people, so I don't know why I haven't received it. The lack of customer service is appalling
Never received
My last book never received and no explanation beyond that they are out of business. I wrote to the new copmpnay suppoedly taking over but no reply was received and no boo nor any refund
Frauds
Went into liquidation, refusing to pay any authors or refund customers that never received a book. Farce
scam artists who pocket, cut and run.
One star is far too much credit for this absolute farce of a business. Its now using the new front of "boundless" and is making its money by outright scamming its authors and the backers that put their hard earned money into projects, before these thieves pocket the money and liquidate.
I (who pledged for a book last year), along with many other victims of this borderline criminal organization, will receive no compensation for the products we ordered.
Do not, under any circumstances, give these thieves the time of day, INCLUDING their new face, "boundless".
Just a quick Google or Youtube search…
Just a quick Google or Youtube search and you will very quickly realise that this publisher has stolen hundreds of thousands of pounds from writers/authors. Avoid these scammers at all costs.
Publishing used to be a gentlemanly business
To be clear, this is a review of Boundless Publishing Group, a London-based entity that has risen from the ashes of Unbound, not to be mistaken for Boundless Book Company, a US-based self-publishing enterprise, who evidently do a very good job for first-time authors. Trustpilot has at least 10 bad reviews for the latter company that were intended for the UK company, which in their typical slapdash way didn't check for similar company names when registering their company name.
It used to be dodgy double glazing companies and timeshare sharks that would walk away from their debts one day and open up for business the next with a new and almost identical name. Now it seems that good old book publishing is not immune from this bare-faced theft and apparently beyond the reach of the law.
I am a freelance editorial supplier to Unbound who last worked for the company on an urgent project last December. At that time I was told I was on 60-day payment terms - the first I'd heard of it. Hmm, twice the industry standard, I thought, but they have always paid before - admittedly the last time had been in 2019 - so I'll be patient. Come the end of 60 days and no payment or any contact from Unbound, I nudged them in the politest terms. I immediately received an email apologising that I hadn't received the mass email sent out to suppliers in January explaining that Unbound were restructuring, Archna Sharma had been appointed interim CEO and had put in a "significant investment" in the company. They were all working tirelessly on an internal restructure and were "absolutely committed to fulfilling our obligations to all our suppliers". I was also promised an email directly from Ms Sharma later that day and was further assured I would be kept in the loop regarding future developments. I now learn that the same language was used to reassure authors owed money - a great deal more than I am owed, I'm sure.
I suppose I'd like to have three things happen. One, obviously, I'd like the money for the work I did. Two, I'd love to know where all the Unbound money went and how did they make it disappear. But three, perhaps more than anything, I'd like them to tell me in person why they think it's OK not to pay my invoice when they have reinvented themselves as Boundless. I'm just one of hundreds of publishing professionals that have been scammed as cynically as any two-bit grifter you can ever find.
I urge all book lovers to boycott Boundless. If you pick up one of theirs in your local book store, drop it at once. Don't help them in any way.
Boundless, my one star is yours to keep. Frame it if you like.
steals money from authors and fails to…
steals money from authors and fails to deliver orders
Horrible company
Horrible company, Stolen work of authors, Not completing orders. Would be here all day if I continued...
Greedy, unprofessional company.
I should have received a book but months later i have not received anything. Any response i get is the storebought: We have delays hang tight.
So far i dont trust them to ever deliver on what they owe me and i will never back anything on this site again.
Plus i have now heard from the write of the book i bought he is not getting his cut for this. I bought it to help him, not this greedy unproffesional shell of a publishing company.
Be smart and save your money, this is not worth it.
they stole the payments from 248…
they stole the payments from 248 authors.
Unbound not paying authors
Turns out that my purchase of Dan Hardcastle's 'The Paradox Paradox' - published by Unbound/Boundless - hasn't made him any money at all because the company won't pay him for the majority of his five years' work on the book. Disgusting and disgraceful from Unbound/Boundless.
Avoid Unbound and Boundless
Avoid Unbound and Boundless. Supported an upcoming book by an author that had already published a handful of titles with the company. A year later I go to check on the status and find my order has been cancelled but no refund was provided, even after multiple attempts to reach the company. Internet sleuthing revealed what others are reporting - authors are not being paid, titles are not being released, and nobody is getting their money back.
Not paying authors
Turns out they are not going honour payment for authors' books.
Thieves
Pay authors the money that they are owed. There are no "good-will payments", only contractual obligations.
Literary industry cowboys
Unbound went into administration so I enquired when I would receive a refund for the project I backed in mid-2024. Boundless replied with a curt email stating that since it is beyond the timeframe for a refund, they would not issue one. The book may still go ahead but no information was given on when. If you're thinking of ordering anything from Boundless just be aware this is who they are and how the operate. Avoid at all costs. Cowboys. I feel sorry for any authors who remain out of pocket from dealing with them.
Zero customer service - fells like a scam?
Having received an email telling me a book I had supported was not now going to be published, I asked for a refund. The refund never came. Seems like this happens a lot.
Avoid this company!
As others have mentioned, 1-star as I could not give zero. Avoid this company and Boundless, it's newest iteration at all costs. I am not sure how is it legal for one of the founders of a financially failing company to establish a second company with essentially the same name, which then purchases said failing company but apparently with none of the financial obligations to return monies owed. However, this appears to be the case with Unbound.
I am one of the more fortunate ones I suppose, as I have only pledged some money to support a title that I would like to be published, under the assumption (actually, not an assumption, I was explicitly told) that the money would be returned to me, either in store credit or back to my bank account, if the project did not go ahead. Since Boundless has taken over, I have received an email from the solicitors stating that the project would not be taken forward, however Boundless does not hold any financial obligation to return any money for this, as this was an obligation held by Unbound. Since they are founded by the same person and essentially owned by the same man, I cannot see how this is legal.
I understand that there are many authors still owed thousands by the company, so my small contribution is not as important in the grand scheme of things, however there was a level of trust associated with this purchase that if the book was not published I would get my money back. It appears that this was a complete and utter lie.
AVOID THESE COWBOYS.
One star as zero is not an option
One star as zero is not an option. Company has gone into administration owing thousands to artists and backers. Have just restarted back up with a new name. DO NOT GET INVOLVED WITH THESE VULTURES AT ALL.
Absolute charlatans - avoid
Absolute charlatans, robbing money from crowd funding campaigns and authors royalties to set up a digital magazine and buy another business.
They lie and lie again and I would not trust any of the people that work for them. Avoid their new branded version of the same company called Boundless.
