Bad Customer Service, Charged Twice, No Return Policy

FINAL UPDATE:

It took them a month to deliver my order.

After that long, I unfortunately wasn't satisfied with the product. It's well made, but when it comes to functionality, some things are lacking, such as proper fastenings to keep the piece in place (it's a wrap-round dress). I used it at home and it kept opening. It also didn't fit me well, it didn't flatter my body type.

I'm still to figure out what I'll do to fix the fastening issue and how to wear it best for my silhouette. I considered returning it even if I had to pay for delivery myself, and found out they do not accept returns. Which goes against any sustainability values, as you're making someone keep something they won't use and you could take it back and sell it to someone who will.

Unfortunately, my review is final: I don't plan on shopping here again.

- After contacting them by email, they explained Instagram shouldn't be used for this kind of issues as they get many messages. They apologised and I've been issued a refund by the company for their double-charge. However, they first tried to refund me less than I paid, and, when I finally got the refund, because it's all paid in USD and not EU, I was refund -10€ due to currency exchange.

- It's going to be 4 weeks this week, and nothing. They told me my order would arrive today or tomorrow. I obviously had to get a new dress for the event I bought this one to. What I got today was a message from our local services saying my order was sent to THE UK, sent to Portugal and is stuck in customs, and I needed to pay 27€ to have a process of release open (which is 1/3 of the actual product). I live in Europe, in Portugal - why would the store send the product to the UK knowing it isn't part of the EU anymore and people could get taxed? Plus, there's no note about that in their website, alerting about customs and extra charges.

I'm still very upset, and I don't plan on buying here again, no matter how pretty their website and products are. Everything is too complicated, things aren't cheap, delivery is confusing, taxes are involved and I'm sure it will get me a while to get my product delivered after it leaves customer. Never. Again.

To start off, I put an item in my cart, it was on sale. I often give myself a couple of days to think before buying on impulse. When I logged in again, having made my decision, the dress was full price without any warning. Meanwhile, all other products online were still on sale - all but the one I had in my cart.

I spoke with them, they gave me a discount code. The dress was half off, but they gave me 10%. Nonetheless, now I was set on buying it for a special event, so I did. When I was about to finish ordering it, the code flagged an error and it went back to the payment page. I carried on, did everything again, the sale was concluded and I was taken to the 'order processed' page. 'Til now, all good.

I went to my Paypal account, which is what I used to pay for my order, I had two charges, both with the same amount. Immediately, I've tried contacting Paypal, but there was no option to double charge, only to wrong amounts. I chose the only option, and, eventually, Paypal declined my request for a refund of one of the two exact amounts.

I contacted the store on Instagram, they said they understood the issue, and they would refund me within 5-7 business days. It's been seven business days (so consider 10 straight days), and nothing. I've contacted them again, and they've left me on read, no answer.

I've been waiting for my order for two weeks now, and still nothing.

The tracking site of their chosen courier is EXTREMELY confusing. The location sometimes says it's in my city, then suddenly it's back in India, then a few days afterwards it's in my city, in Portugal. The activity description makes no sense, sometimes saying it's in the Rayer Service Centre - GBR, which is IN BRITAIN. Then, the next day, says information was uploaded to the Deutsche Post - Dutch, as in THE NETHERLANDS? Whilst the location still says 'Porto, Portugal'.

Conclusion: I've paid twice due to an error in check out on their website, and it's been two weeks and my package is nowhere to be found.

For a small, slow fashion company, with high prices, this looks like A MASSIVE SCAM. I feel scammed, with no dress and no money, with Paypal doing nothing about it. And here I thought using Paypal would make things safer. Let down by both companies at once.

Lovely items

Lovely items. Took a couple of weeks to arrive to the UK but still better than I though considering it was despatched from India. All the items are really lovely quality. A skirt was a bit shorter than expected (mid calf on the website but was just below my knees after washing), but its still a lovely and very flattering item. I'd advise you wash all the clothes before wearing as the factory only press them and some dye does come out in the first wash. Easy to care for as most things can be machine washed cold and hung to dry, and if they fade its easy to bung them in with a black machine dye to refresh the colours. Not sure why other buyers think this is a scam, I'm really happy with my items.

Hi Hayley, thank you for your feedback. It's surprising that the pants faded so quickly. We wonder how were they washed by you? The 'wash and care' section on the website clearly mentions handwashing it in cold water or machine washing it in cold water with darker shades of clothes only. Apart from that, black clothes should never be hung to dry in direct sunlight. They should always be hung to dry in partial sunlight. We hope this helps with your darker clothes in the future.

Company cannot be trusted

I have had an awful experience with this company, and will explain in detail so you don’t have the same problem.

I purchased a custom-size moondress and paid for express postage in order to receive it for my holiday. It was 10cm too short, and on this dress you cannot adjust the hem. Customer Service told me I had got my measurements wrong and gave me the run around. Since I needed the dress within a fortnight for my holiday, I paid for a whole new one. Since my last measurements were too short on the first dress, I just added 10cm to the last dress’ measurements. Annoyingly, it didn’t arrive until after my holiday.

The dress was packaged in a very thin paper envelope. I nicked a corner to tear open, and they had folded the dress into the corner, and it made a hole in the dress. The dress was also 20cm too long. They had clearly lied about making the first dress to my size. I am now having to pay a seamstress to take it up because it’s a very complicated hem. Also please note that the hems on both dresses were very uneven which can happen with a bias cut dress. They both were shorter on one side by 15cm.

Overall, I was lied to constantly, have spent well over AUD$500 for two dresses, postage and a seamstress, and have a dress with a hole in it. These dresses are not cheap, they are paying Indian wages, and their packaging is worse than anything I have received.

I love their photos, but would not recommend them because after so much effort, you don’t actually receive a decent standard of product.

I ordered a couple of dresses with…

I ordered a couple of dresses with adjustments. The quality of the linen and of the cotton linen mix is extremely high, the tailoring is faultless and the styles are beautiful and very flattering. My parcel went missing in transit but It was very promptly replaced. I will certainly be ordering more pieces and highly recommend.

ok experience w caveats

UPDATE:
The hopsack weave cotton fabric is terrible: it is a MAGNET for dust, lint, hair, everything!!! I've treated w fabric softener and antistatic but my god, I can't even wear the dear Anna set because of this issue. It really sucks because I like the set and wish it was in linen or cotton gauze.
Check the fabric content before purchasing from them: avoid the "hopsack cotton weave" at all costs. Go w their other fabrics.

It's also evident that they did not actually customize my order despite the fact I put customization measurements in both the "notes" and "customization" boxes on the order sheet.

Overall, I will probably find some different companies to order my linen clothing from, and there are lots of choices on Etsy for this.

Old review:
The clothes are well made, high quality, however, the fabric I received for the Dear Anna set in "hopsack weave cotton" feels a bit rough and stiff. It did soften a bit after putting thru the wash and my guess is that it will soften more with wear. Just kind of wish I'd chosen a different outfit in either the linen or cotton double gauze fabric which both would have been softer. On the bright side, the hopsack cotton does feel like it'll be very durable and last. Just wish it was a bit flowier and softer. The dress I got in linen and chanderi silk is beautiful - also felt a bit stiff when recieved but I realized after washing it that they just really press the clothes before sending. They just need to be worn in a bit. Very high quality stitching and handiwork. The clothes came in lovely packaging as well. Overall a decent experience although I'm not entirely convinced of the price point - I'd be disappointed if I had paid full price for the hopsack weave set but I got them on sale thankfully. I'd be interested to try some of their other linen clothes to compare their inventory (when they go on sale!) because overall I think it's a good brand w well made unique pieces. My order took them 10 days to process but once it shipped I received it very quickly (in Canada).

I am a UK18 (mostly), I ordered an XXL and I can say that their sizing is accurate and fits so well! I love the linen blend and the dress itself looks so elegant and hangs well. Will definitely be ordering again!

I purchased from Turnblack and in all…

I purchased from Turnblack and in all honesty their clothing is beautiful and so is the quality, their customer service is the issue. Not the performance of their customer service, that too is "professional" but they dealt with my issue in a sort of "our hands are tied" which really felt more like: we're grasping our own hands behind our backs and telling you they're tied. I ordered clothing from them and put my measurements into the "customization" box that they tell you to use when asking for pieces to be made to your size. When my items arrived it was clear they weren't customized. I contacted them and was told that they never received my measurements in my order. They sent me the transaction receipt of my order and they sent me examples of receipts of purchases that had measurements documented. Here's the twist, when checking out there are two boxes, a notes box and a customization box, the site says specifically to use the customization box to list measurements, the receipts they sent, where measurements were shown, were when people used the first box not the customization box, I brought it to their attention, they didn't respond to my observation. My vibe is that they're more than aware of this but it serves them to respond with "it's not our fault" and suggest that they can help if you return the items on your dime. It costs $300 to return. So all in all, I love their items, but I don't like the ethos of their business. I got a beautiful dress out of it though and I really wanted to purchase other pieces but they've lost me as a customer.

No customer service at all

Terrible customer service - they never came back to me via email and facebook page, simply left me on seen. I have been waiting for my package for a month already (it is somewhere on hold for two weeks now) and I cannot track it with my local postal service. Never gonna buy from them again

Updated. After I made a claim for a money refund via Paypal, customer service wrote to me but was not helpful at all. By that time the carrier has initiated the return to the sender package and nothing could be done. The cs said sorry and asked to delete my negative review bc they are a small business and every review matters. Btw they promised to make a refund themselves but went silent afterwards and I got my money back only thanks to filing the claim via Paypal.

Don't be lured by the dark side

I think it's important that I write this. This company is a SCAM. Do not fall for their attempt at convincing you to buy directly through them after their website fails. Paypal strongly advised me to avoid their fake PayPal invoice requests. I can only guess the other 'reviewers' for this site are sock puppets.
Pity as the clothing looks great even if the company isn't. Another Instagram based con.

TurnBlack clothing is made very well, they accommodated my custom size perfectly (I'm very petite, and now finally have the black maxi of my dreams), it's priced very well, and the shipping was supremely fast, especially coming from overseas. High quality clothes, made to fit

High quality clothes, made to fit, delivered quickly, ethically produced. Interesting designs with a subtle edge, unlikely to be found elsewhere. Turn Black’s “made to your measurements” service (offered on any order, if you request it) is a real plus if you don’t fit neatly into a standard S/ML category or if you’re not sure which size is for you. I made a mistake in my measurements which they picked up and checked with me straight away, which gave me confidence in their process. And their prices represent excellent value for money. I will be ordering again.
