Swimtrek are great - and so are Kornati Islands
Kornati Islands, Croatia, Sept 2026, Leisurely swims (3 km/day). I'm a bit late writing this, so I will just agree with my fellow swimmers that it was all wonderful (see reviews by Richard, Celine and others above). Thank you so much to guides Kim and Hamish and to the boat crew, for exceptional care of us and lovely food.
For first-timers like me, who are wondering which Swimtrek holiday to choose - Kornati Islands is a perfect holiday for beginners. If you are worried about not being able to see the line on the bottom of the swimming pool, then the Kornatis are perfect - you mostly swim around the islands, close to the shore and above the reef, with a consistent drop-off, so you can easily tell how far you are from the shore without ever looking up from the water. And the Swimtrek 'slow' swimming group was slow enough so I could stop and admire the fish and reefs, without feeling I had to keep swimming flat out to avoid getting left behind.
This Swimtrek location is easy to get to, as well. Zadar is a lovely town which is not (quite) so overrun as Split or Dubrovnik, but is very welcoming to tourists. If you can't find a direct flight to Zadar, you can fly to Split and take a 2 hour bus - it's worth staying over in Zadar, anyway. Then a one-hour ferry, that leaves right from Zadar Old Town, takes you straight to the village of Sali on the idyllic, relatively unspoilt island of Dugi Otok. From the Sali ferry port, it's a 10 minute walk over a small hill to the Sali Hotel, which is on its own quiet bay, overlooking a cafe and swim spot. (The hotel would be a wonderful place to stay if you have a non-Swimtrek partner who would just like to walk, splash around and snorkel a bit.)
The Swimtrek guides and fellow swimmers could not be nicer, they are encouraging and helpful to newbies. We also had an optional chance to improve our stroke, with a video (thanks Hamish) I'm going to train harder before my next Swimtrek, though :)

As an average swimmer who had only one stroke (the breast stoke ) and no experience of sea swimming I’m leaving with the wonderful gift of feeling rather confident in the fee style stroke and open water swimming all thanks to the wonderful Tanya an Maryanne

Exhilarating open-water experience
Exhilarating open-water experience! 5 star location in Perast, Montenegro. Excellent Guides, swam in 4 bodies of water. Accommodation was also 5 star! Mrshe Palace was an ideal location for our accommodation- restaurants in walking distance and views were stunning.

My Swim Trek holiday in the Montenegro Fjords
My Swim Trek holiday in the Montenegro Fjords was the perfect active holiday. It combined authentic local experiences, magnificent locations and amazing guides to provide safe but challenging swims, set in the most incredible waterways. This was our first swimming holiday. We are a couple from Australia who are both confident swimmers but our group had a variety of ages and swim experience and our guides used their extensive swimming experience and local knowledge to tailor our program to meet all needs. We cannot speak highly enough of our guides Rachel and Mladen for their energy and generosity in sharing their love for swimming and Montenegro.

Croatian Cornati island…
Just did the Croatian Cornati island trip.
Very good - Possibly my favourite.
Safety and fun were the main factors from the superb guides and boat crews.
Most evening venues were arranged by the guides and were faultless.
Great value for money given the effort that was put in by SwimTrek staff.

Beautiful Sali, Croatia
It takes the talent of excellent swim guides Hamish and Kim; local seasoned boat captain Vid; history of the region by the towns professor Miho; the right mix of fellow swimmers to make for a perfect Croatia Sali week on the sea.
A private booking to celebrate Swim Trek's number one patron with 30 trips under her belt, Carolyn King's 80th birthday, was well orchestrated. I give the whole experience a 10!

A great experience
Personal attention, strong safety focus. All the pre-trip info made it easy to bring the right gear. The company's arrangements for transfers made travel to the swim site seamless. Our guides were outstanding-knowledgeable, super organized on the boat for the swims. And so kind and helpful!
