Shocking that they cannot provide automatic refunds, what can the administration charge possibly cover? As a courtesy they should waive it. I didn’t agree to use this company, the agreement was with the school.
Cannot receive a refund as below £10. So thankful I told my daughter to spend as much as she could. Feeling aggrieved for all the parents who have been robbed of much more, when every penny is a prisoner these days.

Notified our school that they were withdrawing services and that refunds will be automatic.
Now will not refund as they charge a £10 admin charge for them to close an account they have withdrawn themselves at short notice. What a joke.
Would give it a zero if I could. Cannot believe they get to decide to cease operations and keep my money also. Absolute thievery! I haven't cancelled neither has the school, money should be refunded on principle. On top they gave minimal notice and didn't give clear instructions about refund.

Have not been able to claim my credit balance back after they stopped their services with Schools. This money belongs to parents, not sQuid. This is dinner money for kids that you are holding on to. Completely unfair and underhand.
Same as other reviewers. They won’t refund my child’s money despite withdrawing their service. If I took money, refused a service, and didn’t return the cash, it would be regarded as theft. What is it in this case?
I notice that the company hasn’t filed its confirmation statement and that six out of eight of its board members have resigned. What’s going on?
They are quoting terms and conditions. However, the refund charge falls under the cancellation and redemption section of their T and c and refers to cancellation by a customer. We have not cancelled, they have, and as such they should refund all positive balances and stop stealing children’s dinner money.
It also seems, from looking at schools’ letters to parents, that schools have been using identical language which would imply they were quoting sQuid’s own guidance. This advises parents “any remaining sQuid balances must be withdrawn in full before 14th April 2025. After that time, charges as set out in sQuid’s terms and conditions will apply.” This seems to imply that charges, even as per their terms and conditions, will not be applied before that date.
With short noticed they withdrew their services to the school my children go to. It was supposed to be easy to transfer remaining balances to the new provider but Squid put a minimum amount of £10 per child to be able to transfer funds plus they added a charge of £10 for each transfer, despite it being automated. They've basically decided to keep children's school meal money. Money meant to feed children. It's theft from hard working parents and the mouths of children.

They have withdrawn school payments which I don't have a problem with. What I do have a problem with is that all my 'debt' (school trips) on my account have seamlessly been transferred but my catering purse which is in credit hasn't. I am to loose an £8 credit on one Childs account and for the £28 credit on the other I have to pay a £10 admin fee. So I am expected to be out of pocket by £18 for keeping my children in credit for their meals.
Squid you can copy and past the same rubbish 'T&C's haven't changed' nonsense that you have done on every other post. You are totally immoral taking money from the pockets of hard working parents!
Won’t refund my kids’ dinner money. Relying on their t&cs despite HAVING WITHDRAWN THE SERVICE. Obviously nobody is going to accept that so look forward to a refund and an apology in due course. You can’t let your kids think it’s okay for someone to steal their dinner money (not that I’m suggesting that here - am sure it’s a misunderstanding that Squid will hurry to rectify) so I won’t let this one go and I hope nobody else will too. Abject.
The same as every other parent/guardian going through this! How is it our fault when you are withdrawing the service! With very little notice how was we given the chance to run down our balance.... not fair at all!
Closing down and imposing £10 fees for remaining balance refunds. This fee did not exist before. Cheats!
Update: Despite charging the £10 service fee they have not delivered a service. I have requested my refund and I am still waiting on it two weeks later. Meanwhile they are earning interest on my money. Absolutely disgusting thieves!

Disgusting company! They have chosen to stop supplying schools with there system and refuse to refund less than £10 basically getting free money from parents who used there system. I’m not leaving this and taking it further as apparently it’s stated when you sign up (which it wasn’t because I wouldn’t of signed up for it and agreed to them keeping my money for no reason!) if they think they can get away with this then they need to take a look at just how many reviews are being made in the last few days. Parents aren’t happy and your going down

sQuid withdrew it's services from the UK, and customers were instructed to withdraw balances when no longer able to use in schools to purchase lunch. After attempting to withdraw the balance of £13.89 on 7th March 2025, I received an error message on 14th March, stating the "terms & conditions hadn't been implemented". Then when trying to withdraw the balance again, they stated a £10 fee would be applied. They have implemented this fee to all UK customers, making hundreds of thousands of pounds, and scamming customers. I still haven't received any refund from my account on 17th March 2025.
UPDATE - despite trying to amend my withdrawal to £3.89, I am unable to withdraw anything, the online message from Squid says
"Current balance on this purse: £13.89
Available to withdraw: £0.00
You are unable to withdraw funds as your balance of £13.89 is lower than our minimum refund amount of £10.01."
???? This does't make sense?! Customers are charged a £10 fee AND are only refunded a minmum of £10, so require more than £20 in their account to receive any kind of refund?
The customer service takes forever to reply so I imagine they will not refund me anything - despite the admin fee being only £10. An absolute scam. 19/3/25
