SCAM!!!

I have just had a payment taken from my account for no reason. Absolute scammers. How do I stop these payments???

Haven’t been to an event for years. Should be prosecuted!!!

This company cancelled the event I had signed up to hours before the actual event. I never received the refund I asked for, and have now realised they have been taking 24.99 from my credit card for at least the last 6 months. They have put a stop on the account and started proceedings with the company. Please check your statements if you have signed up to an event!

Booked an online event that was cancelled a few hours later. No refund is given now. BEWARE!!! THESE PEOPLE ARE THIEVES AND SCAMMERS!!!

Speeddater is owned by NSI Holdings which is based out of Ukraine. They attempt to prevent you from making a complaint by repeatedly delaying their response. I was booked to attend an event, they changed the location at the last minute and then said I was still liable to pay which is not what is not what is stated in their own terms and conditions. I have chased up multiple times this week and they have still not provided me with a response to my complaint. Every event I have been on has never been fully booked and has been hosted very badly. They are also in breach of the General Data Protection Regulation with certain practices that they employ on their website. I would strongly recommend avoiding this company.

Speed Dater cancelled an event they were due to hold on the day of event. The event was a socially distanced picnic, which was cancelled due to low numbers. They said they were not refunding us and instead we had credit to use at another event. However, under their terms and conditions they clearly explained that in the event of cancellation, "a full and prompt refund of all monies you have paid". I requested a full refund instead, to which they told me there was an admin charge for that. I told them I did not want to pay the admin charge, and later I received an email saying they had refunded me and taken the admin charge anyway!

I have been scammed NSI Holdings Ltd are taking 24.99 out of my account every month. For people this has happened to, how have you stopped the payments? Their contact page never works and they leave no phone number.

A virtual speed date scheduled for tonight has just been cancelled due to low numbers - so this is the third event I've booked with them - the first event was also cancelled at short notice, and the other event - only 3 girls turned up for that one - and I didn't get to know beforehand that there would be loads more guys to girls! Also, at beginning of event, there is a group chat with the guys and girls all bundled into same 'room', as in normal speed date, however other companies separate girls and boys so that we don't get to see girls until we're put into the virtual room for the 4-minute date with them. I suggested this to the customer service person on Instant Message but they seemed not to be bothered in the slightest. Crap customer service, crap experience all round, and I can find cheaper virtual speed date elsewhere. Don't use this company - a waste of time and money.

Went to a NYE singles party where the ratio of men to women was around 9:1, meaning they totally failed at providing a fun, flirtatious evening for all concerned. Then discovered they had signed me up to a "membership" package without my consent, taking £24.99 out of my account every month under the name "NSI Holdings".

They are refusing to refund this money.

Would not recommend from either an event standpoint or a company standpoint.

I attended a speed dating evening event tonight only to find nobody else there. Nobody bothered to phone, text, email, WhatsApp, messenger, write, or FB me to let me know. Furious. When I phoned to find out what was going on, I was told I wasn't on the list and had been taken off it. I hadn't asked to be taken off and had already received confirmation I was on the list. I am left £120 out of pocket for the work I cancelled to make myself free for the evening and arrive on time; I also cancelled my regular sports session for this evening. Reading is just over half an hour's drive from my home and it takes a while to park there. If you also consider reaching the venue from the parking spot, you will appreciate an hour and a half to two hours tonight were spent getting to and from an event that didn't happen.

On the chat facility online, Nicole was pretty useless, simply refunding me the amount paid and was completely disinterested in giving me any compensation: she simply kept asking what else she could do for me. Some compassion, intelligence and suitable offer was expected but apparently too much to ask.

I understand that if I do not attend an event, I forfeit the amount paid, yet this company do not reciprocate if they make an error. Scandalous. Do not use this company: they are disorganised and apathetic to the customers they are supposed to be helping. 'Slow dating' are better.

Two big problems. One is that Speeddater have completely missed the point about speeddating. Which is that it's meant to be fun! The organisers were awful miseries - who could have started a funeral in the middle of the Rio Carnival.

And the marketing seems to bring earnest, equally miserable, robotic participants. You won't find any warmblooded love here.

Towards the end they were trying to give out free tickets to the following night's event - talk about desperate! This seems a floundering, dying company.

Second problem, esp. one to watch perhaps for the men - the bank just told me I had a payment taken by Speeddater's corporate operator - which is categorised as an "Escorts" company.

Don't know what else they're offering but not something we'd all want on our bank records...!

This company is unprofessional and just horrible. it is a total scam!!!!!!! I went to one of their events and not only did they have 6 people attend, the guy to girl ratio made no sense. The reasonable thing to do would have been to cancel the event instead of deceiving your customers. They even refused to refund us! Not to mention the moderator left early! Horrible company.

Same like everyone else, got scammed. Bought a ticket (Norwich) which got cancelled on the day. The telephone number just rings and then cuts. Wasted my money. Spoke to numerous people by chat - all who confirmed I was not on a membership scheme. Turns out I was.
Had to call bank to cancel card. I wish I had checked the reviews first....

Scam! I booked to attend a dating event in St Albans. Not only was it cancelled on the day but the company did not automatically give me a refund and stated that they wanted to give me credit to attend another event.

When booking the event online I didn't remove the tick from the box for platinum membership. This resulted in me being charged a £25 fee for the membership and once cancelled they stated that I would be billed for the following month too.

So in conclusion the company haven't provided me any service, yet taken £50 for a platinum membership which I didn't want and made it very hard for me to get my original £15 back.

In conclusion. Don't bother!

Scammers! They basically trick you into joining a subscription service by only attending one event and give you no way to opt out of it! Then they spam you with emails and texts, when you never opted in to them, the only way I got them to stop texting me was sending them an angry email and I’m still getting texts! It’s ridiculous and not legal

As per most of the other reviews, I was also scammed out of money- attended one event and recently discovered that I’ve since been charged £24.99/ month for 8 months!
Having read some reviews (inc. other sites) by people getting their money back, I pushed until I did indeed get an agreement to a full refund (first refused, then offered half as credit, finally refund agreed).
Tips- stay polite but firm. Check the confirmation email you received from them for the event- there was nothing on mine indicating any other payment or service and no other emails. Request copies of the recordings of all phonecalls (I’ve yet to receive mine but legally they have to provide those, if requested). Do not mention/ threaten with reviews/social media slatings as I can’t imagine that helps- or at least I didn’t try that. Repeat phonecalls until you get what you want- stay firm.
Finally... please report to BBC Watchdog- if enough of us do then that may help shut down their scam...

Speed dater charged me £20 for an event that never happened and have refused to provide a refund.

So I paid £20 to attend a speed dating event in oxford. At the last minute it was cancelled due to not enough women.
I called to get a refund, but they persuaded me to take a free event instead.
This event was also cancelled on the night as not enough men had shown up.

I called to get a refund, and they have refused to do so. They offered another "free event" but it appears that they are not doing any more events in oxford and they are absolutely refusing to provide any kind of refund. I will be reporting this to Trading Standards.

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE

SpeedDater.co.uk are a dishonest and unethical company which scams people into an expensive 'membership' without their known consent.

In my case the issue only came to light after I accepted a 'FREE invitation' to an event. I then found out that £25 had been withdrawn from my account under another name to SpeedDater.co.uk - namely 'NSI Holdings Inc', which gives a London address, but an Edinburgh telephone number. When I called the company it said this was a 'membership fee' not an event fee.

Looking back through my account I discovered SpeedDater/NSI Holdings had made multiple withdrawals from my account for various sums, irrespective of whether I had attended any events. In total I had agreed payment for three events priced at £16-20 each but NSI made multiple withdrawals totalling THREE TIMES the amount I had consented to over a period of several months.

I found the only way to stop them was to instruct my bank to block all payments to SpeedDater.co.uk - NSI Holdings under any circumstances.

The chances of getting a refund are zero. Their staff play games pretending I agreed to sign up to a 'membership' about which I knew nothing because I failed to explicitly state that I was not interested in a 'membership' about which I knew nothing. If I had been made aware of the membership, I would have said No. When I asked about other non membership related withdrawals from my account by NSI Holdings the company's representative refused to comment.

The so called membership itself is valueless. It offers nothing which is why I was unaware I was in it. All most of us ever agreed to or wanted was attendance at an event or two for a set price. Big mistake.

Like so many such outfits SpeedDater.co.uk are dancing around the law while laughing in their victim's faces. They and their ilk are a damning indictment of Britain's Wild West economy and the authorities failure to police the business market properly.

The small print after you sign up reveals this is a subscription service. I had to cancel my credit card in the end to stop payments. Since then they have been bombarding me with texts to sign up again with no opt out and no way of blocking the withheld number. Reported to the ICO but most definitely a scam.

I just went to one event and found out that for the last 3 months they started to take £25 out of my account every month. They say I signed up for a monthly subscription which I did not. It just says in the T&C that you will get charged.

They will not refund the money - don't use!!
