Event cancelled on the day of the event. No refund provided. This company is not actually called SpeedDater. It is DesignMyNight. I would recommend not using this company as you will lose your money!

Repeated last minute cancellation

Booked an event, cancelled. They gave me a voucher which was meant to get me a free rebooking, but didn't cover the cost of the ticket, eventually they rebooked me on manually, only for that event to be cancelled too. Not sure I can even be bothered to try rebooking again just for further disappointment on the morning the event is meant to happen. Very glad I haven't signed up for the unlimited plan. As many cancelled events as I like!

We try to ensure that our events have an equal gender split and no less than 8 participants of the same gender. If the number of tickets sold is less or someone at the last moment refused and could not come, such an event is canceled and rescheduled. Therefore, sometimes it happens that several events are canceled in a row. We do our best to avoid such situations as much as possible. We will be very happy if you give us another chance and come to our event!

Half a job

Further to my post in July….the website appears to be fixed and now have the ability to message matches. How about advising all members if this is the case? I never received any notification that the website had been fixed and I know you have my email address.
I also never received a response from your customer manager despite you mentioning they would be in contact.

APPALLING WEBSITE

Following on from the review about the unbelievable time to fix their website - here we are on Aug 13 and STILL nothing fixed - I have a message I can't read. This has been months now - I'm disgusted. Why on Earth was your site not upgraded (as you keep saying) offline ready for an easy transition. Don't expect me to return.

Extremely shady operation

Extremely shady operation. Recently I joined one of their events, the way it's supposed to work is if you match with someone you can then chat to them on their site and exchange contact details. The thing is their site does not work and you are left in limbo. Their customer service neither answer the phone or respond to incidents raised on the site. Awful!

I have previously reviewed before

I have previously reviewed before, but today I approached customer service to voice my concern if other participants did not receive the login. Of 5 participants, 2 others have indicated their choices. I indicate my choice only after I have called and found that you can do it directly from the website without the link; this they did not tell us. This means that potentially 3 people ( more than 50%) did not receive the link. I was told she will resend the link, but again, nothing came, having checked my spam mail, blacklist etc. Having read other reviews, I understand this is an exceptionally common problem and am concerned that there is no root cause analysis and no action on feedback.
The customer service line often entails a long wait if there is answer at all, unless you call just as the service line opens at 10am.
Most of all, the customer service supervisor Adrianna was very condescending bordering on rude; having sent 3 emails with acknowledged receipt from Speeddater, gotten no reply and then being talked to rudely.

Safety concerns

When booking the event the company stress the importance of making a profile so that you can view others who will be attending and they can view you. This function was not available during the run up to the event despite trying numerous times. There seemed to be little to no monitoring of attendees and therefore in the end I did not feel comfortable enough to go to the event. I don't know many women who would feel comfortable enough to walk into a room of strangers and leave late at night. Flagged this as an issue with the company. No reply yet to ticket ID [BZD-83718-581]. I'd like my money refunded and for the security around attendees improving. (Additional note- there is no option to remove my profile from the website- I have made a new complaint regarding this).

No link, no response, no customer support, doesn't care

Having attended an event travelling from afar on a day of national train strike, I received no link to post my choices. I have sent 3 emails describing this but got no reply despite each email saying they will respond in 24 hours. Considering there are only 5 participants this is very poor.

Newcastle Speed dating event 7th June

Newcastle Speed dating event 7th June.

My friend has just advised me that the event In Newcastle this evening has been cancelled. She was also booked to attend. I have not received any text / message / email.

Please could you confirm you will be arranging a refund rather than offer a free place at another event. This is the third time an event has been cancelled and I have not received refunds for the previous two cancelled events. Thank you

Just out to get your money

I was meant to attend an event on 14th April but had surgery at short notice so cannot attend. After paying £19.99 Speeddater want another £5 to change my booking. What rogues! They are clearly just out to make money, they don’t care about their customers at all. Don’t use this company!

Speeddater have now let me change the date without paying extra, thank you!

Also I subscribed to a monthly payment without even knowing! I hate companies who trick you like this as soon as they have your card details!

Avoid this speed dating company

SpeedDater are a terrible company. I went to the speed dating event on 8/2/22 at the Village in Soho. The event didn't follow the advertised schedule - the break halfway through was skipped (the room was needed by others from 9pm!) which meant an exhausting 16 speed dates in a row. We were all packed into the room, which meant it got very loud and difficult to hear one another. The host could've been more friendly too.

The main problems have been since the night. There has been no email inviting you to enter your matches online. I've been having lots of problems with the website, including when I click on 'All attendees' I see one woman listed - I was at a gay male event! I can't tell if my ticks / matches have been processed / displayed properly.

I've detailed all of this with screenshots in an email to enquiriesATspeeddater.co.uk, adminATspeeddater.co.uk and supportATspeeddater.co.uk. There has been no response. SpeedDater - if you read this please find my email in your inbox (09/02/2022 21:47) and reply to me. I tried phoning up and the apathetic staff simply said the people who answer the phones don't have access to the email inboxes!

Don't waste your money and time with SpeedDater.

Took payment twice, claimed it was declined will not refund or respond to me even after providing proof of charges on Bank Statement. These guys are crooks, use with caution.

poor customer service, poor organisation

poor customer service, last minute postponement led to confusion and wasted time. I would strongly suggest that Speeddater inform attendees of postponed events by text message as well as email. Due to last minute postponement a friend and I showed up to the event which was taking place a day later. Please please make it clearer when postponing events, and I would also recommend you receive active confirmation that attendents can actually attend (and are aware of postponement) as opposed to assuming this. On calling Speeddater it was clear she was reading off a script and made me feel like it was my fault for the confusion. Speeddater- please improve your customer service. I would give this company a big miss and go elsewhere!

I was at the Bacchus Event (mentioned earlier on this page) on 23rd Nov 21. It was an awful, badly organised evening. My friend sent an email of complaint and didn't hear anything back so posted a complaint on Trust Pilot. The response advised to send another email to their admin address which I did this time on 8th Dec. Still waiting for a reply. I'll never use this company again and would never recommend. Massive waste of money and poor customer service.

This is the worst scam ever

This is the worst scam ever. I ended up paying another £19.98 for apparently subscribing to pay monthly ...I didn't.!... If they take an £19.98 extra of everyone who signs up for one event ...they will be making a lot of money for doing nothing. Total scam . Do not use this site !! And after that off pat response that you give to everyone ...the question still remains exactly how much a year do you make off everyone who #forgot# to cancel their membership they didn't know they had Mr NSI holdings hmmmm?? .exactly

Such a waste of an evening

I have emailed Speedater regarding my experience and have not heard back so lets see if i get a response on here. I went to the wine tasting event at Bacchus in Farringdon 23/11. It was quite frankly awful.

- No food as stated when we booked
- Wine tasting was not in a private room as stated but out in the open in the noisy restaurant and we could hardly hear the sommelier.
- Only 4 men turned up to a so called sold out event so that is a 60% no show.
- The host was quite frankly awful, not friendly/inviting or made anyone feel comfortable. Spent most the night on his phone and as soon as he could leave he was out of there.
- Since the event only my friend who booked the event has received any correspondence from the site.

Over £30 to sit in a loud establishment drinking mediocre wine its quite frankly laughable. We should all receive a refund. I have been to other speedating events which were cheaper than this and a lot better. My friends and i are very disappointed with Speedater and also the lack of response to my email.

Kept billing me even when I clicked on…

Kept billing me even when I clicked on cancel. When you cancel you have to enter your password to confirm you want to cancel.. So you would assume that after clicking cancel, Entering your password it would be ca cancelled.... Wrong!!!

it shows a long bit of text with the last bit saying call us to cancel. Why have a cancel option, enter your password to then not be able to cancel it 🤷‍♂️
When you click cancel you assume its cancelled and not going to read some long text with a number at the end. Clearly a plan to make people think they have cancelled when in fact they are still paying.

Online chat said "what do you want me to do" after losing £100 by not noticing not a great response

Speed dating 55 plus

Signed up for a speed dating event on Sunday text and email on the morning to say it’s cancelled due to low numbers. No info on refunds. I will be contacting them but reading the reviews I’m worried they are scammers.

Poor event for dating

Recently went to one of these events. Advertised as 25 dates but only 8 females and many males. Also little guidance given by the hosts on the sessions.
Received an email afterwards saying I could enter ticks for people I liked but then discovered I couldn't as I'd been to what they classed as a party. They advised me to use their messaging service which I did but with no responses.
Asked for a partial refund which was refused.
