I would give zero if I could. It’s an ideal option for people with limited funds who can not afford a traditional deposit, but the portal and staff are completely useless when it comes to end of tenancy.

Unless you have enough banked to be able to pay the balance your landlord provides on termination of tenancy, just go with a traditional deposit and avoid the hassle

Very disappointing experience – I would not rely on Reposit to fairly resolve a dispute

My experience with Reposit followed the end of my tenancy, when my landlord/agent claimed a number of end-of-tenancy charges against me. I disputed several of these charges because I did not believe they were properly justified.

These included charges for bathroom cleaning, despite the bathroom having been cleaned before I left, as well as charges relating to the removal/disposal of some of my belongings. I had informed the agent that I intended to return to collect belongings, including my TV stand and other items, and I was not satisfied with the evidence provided regarding what had supposedly been disposed of, when this happened or the actual disposal costs.

I therefore used Reposit’s dispute process expecting the evidence from both sides to be properly considered.

Unfortunately, the adjudication ultimately went in the landlord’s favour, and I am now being pursued for the outstanding balance.

I accept that an adjudication took place and that a decision was made. I also accept that some of the charges were reasonable, including the charge relating to marks/painting on the wall. However, I did not agree with all of the charges and remain dissatisfied with the outcome.

My biggest issue is that, having gone through the process, I did not feel that my evidence and concerns were given the same weight as the landlord’s claims. That left me with the impression that the process was not as impartial or balanced as I had expected it to be.

I appreciate that not every dispute will end in favour of the tenant. My criticism is not simply because I lost the adjudication. It is because I came away from the process feeling that I could not rely on Reposit to give me the fair and balanced consideration I expected when I challenged charges that I genuinely disputed.

The whole process was stressful, particularly after an already difficult tenancy involving issues such as rodents, mould/damp and an unresolved roof problem.

Based on my personal experience, I would not rely on Reposit to protect my interests in a tenancy dispute, and I would advise tenants not to assume that using the dispute process means their concerns will necessarily receive the outcome they believe the evidence supports.

Keep detailed photographs, videos, inventories, correspondence and evidence of everything throughout your tenancy. Do not assume that the dispute process will resolve evidential gaps after you have left.

This review reflects my personal experience and the impression I was left with after going through the Reposit process.
