New authors beware how they suck you in and do nothing with your book. Especially no marketing campaign, just thrown on Amazon alongside 60, 000,000 other books. Never placed on a shelf in any bookstore never mind Eason.
Here's how Pegasus Elliott Mackenzie con you. They confirmed submission of manuscript and say they are evaluating it for publication with them. Then two months later they reply with congratulations they believe your manuscript has merit but offer you a publishing contract but you'll be contributing to the costs for marketing etc, so to speak.
Traditional publishing contracts ask for no money. They edit their manuscripts three times before publishing is considered and they fund marketing campaigns. Pegasus edit your book only once
Traditional book publishers will then have their books placed for sale in all major book stores. Their company completed none of these. They never state these important facts in the contract, nor in email correspondence or on their website.
They are obviously doing this same process with hundreds of other author's works. Charging them 2,000 pounds then the company discontinue the author's work after two years. Taking it off the market when requested not to. They took it off because their company has no intention of marketing books. It is blatant deception. What also proves this is their intended procedure to deceive authors is their total lack of interest in author's work and liaising well with authors prior to publication they certainly don't liaise with them during marketing after publication as they don't do any!!
Their policy or aim is based on taking in 2,000 sterling from each gullible new author, then do as little as possible. They do this to make profits from the author not from generating author book sales. As book sales are hard to generate especially when not for sale any more. All authors efforts to try gain sales /marketing for their work over that period are suddenly shut down. While during that very same period their company is deceiving the next batch of authors out off 2,000 pounds instead of promoting their existing authors novels. This is disgraceful. Their failure to have a book published according to contract is also another indicator of deception fraud
I believe many other budding authors are at this very moment are also being frauded by this company

I paid £2400 for what they called a hybrid contract and they insisted they were not vanity publishers. They are. The editorial process was reasonable and I ended up with a satisfactory book but they made no effort to market it. At the outset they say they'll push it on lots of websites but they only pay lip service to that. They only put blurb on Amazon so the chances of anyone finding it anywhere else are remote. The royalty statements were a mess and I haven't seen any money yet.

As a first time author I have been glad to have Pegasus' support to produce my novel, although there have been a few niggles. Production seemed to take forever and it would have been nice to have more communication from the production coordinator to relieve author anxiety. Choosing a publisher is a minefield and once we've relinquished control of our manuscript, it is an anxious time when we don't hear anything for months. Especially for first timers who don't know the process.
I have found the publicity team much more forthcoming and they have answered all of my queries within a couple of days.

I strongly advise authors to avoid Pegasus Publishers. Invest your hard-earned income into self-publishing rather than entering into a contract with them.
I paid £2,700 under the contractual agreement that my book would be published within 325 working days. That deadline passed over two months ago, and I still have no publication date and no final version. Communication is minimal to non-existent, and any updates have to be chased.
Pegasus have cited “staff reductions” as justification under the clause allowing for delays due to “any other factor.” This is an unreasonable interpretation of the clause, which clearly intends to cover extraordinary events such as fire, flood, or pandemic—not predictable and manageable business issues.
Promises of a marketing team and a dedicated production coordinator proved empty. It took 10 months before I saw any tangible progress. As they have failed to fulfil the contract, Clause 15 entitles me to a full reimbursement within 30 days, yet no such refund has been issued. They continue to state there has been no “breach of contract”.
In my experience, Pegasus Publishers appear to prioritise taking money from aspiring authors rather than delivering on their obligations. Proceed with extreme caution.

Pegasus operates with a shocking lack of professionalism, technical skill, and integrity. I strongly advise any author to steer clear of this company. They have caused me significant frustration, wasted time, and financial loss.
From the start, the publishing process with Pegasus was slow, inefficient, and poorly managed. Every team took far too long to complete even basic tasks. A two-minute cover change took a full month. Tasks were handled sequentially rather than concurrently, creating constant delays and bottlenecks.
The design work was shockingly unprofessional. Clear instructions were ignored or misunderstood. Full sentences were mistakenly removed from the cover—errors I had to catch myself. I often had to make basic graphic changes on my own, like blurring a background or adjusting a gradient—simple tasks even a beginner could do faster and better. Proofreading was no better: it was slow, lacked substance, and included edits that demonstrated no understanding of the content—plus it introduced new errors.
Many of my authorial requests were outright dismissed. I asked for the Author page to be placed at the end of the book, but it was placed at the beginning and I was not allowed to change it. Pegasus rewrote my blurb entirely without my input and ignored my suggestion to merge both versions. They also refused to publish the book on the dates I had requested.
Communication was patchy and inconsistent. I often went weeks or months without a response, needing to send multiple follow-ups just to get a basic update. I was rarely informed about project progress and had no visibility on where things stood.
Marketing and promotional support was virtually nonexistent, despite what was promised in the contract. There was no visible effort—no podcast outreach, no blog posts, no reviews arranged. I had to take on all promotional responsibilities and expenses myself. Even worse, Pegasus refused to distribute the book on platforms like Kobo or Apple Books, limiting visibility and sales.
Sales transparency was deeply lacking. Despite repeated requests, I never received clear or timely reports. Only when I noticed missing sales and presented proof did Pegasus finally acknowledge the discrepancy. To this day, I still don't trust the numbers they showed me, but I have limited ability to prove exact numbers, so there is not much I can do.
The printing process was also poor. The book cover was printed at low quality, and Pegasus refused to reprint or adjust the design to fix it. I was asked to approve the cover without receiving a physical copy, so I only discovered the problem after the fact—at which point they refused any changes. It took over five months for my first 200 copies to arrive, and they even attempted to overcharge me for shipping.
Throughout the entire process, they consistently refused to take responsibility for mistakes or offer compensation. My post-publishing support requests have also been denied. I seriously cannot recommend Pegasus to any author. Steer clear.

My first experience of having a book published. I'm happy with the process and end result.

I had a good experience with Pegasus for my first book. There were some minor issues but they were sorted out. The production team were very nice and although my book was published slightly over time, I was ok with that. HOWEVER, this second book has been a disaster from the start. 11 months wating for a first round edit, and the editing was so bad, a 7th grader could have done better. I think AI was used. I had to design my own cover, because the designs they sent were substandard. I'm deeply disappointed and really frustrated. I wish I'd never accepted a contract with Pegasus. Self publishing from now on. Over 18 months and no book to show.

I found Pegasus publishers helpful and positive in the publication of my book 'Mirror Images'. Any of my queries/concerns were promptly dealt with. I found the staff to be empathic, considerate and encouraging throughout the whole process.

Pegasus published my novel Elysium Accumbens in 2025. They were kind, responsive to my concerns, and they gave me latitude to edit and design various aspects of it. I would work with them again.

Publishing my book with Pegasus Publishers has been a truly rewarding and encouraging experience. From the very first communication, the team showed genuine enthusiasm for my work and made me feel supported every step of the way.
One of the things I appreciated most was their clarity and responsiveness. Every question I had — whether about the contract, royalties, or the publishing process — was answered promptly and with care. As a first-time author, that kind of guidance was incredibly reassuring.
The production process was smooth and professional. The editing team respected my voice while polishing the manuscript, and the design team did a beautiful job with the cover and layout. Holding the finished copy in my hands was a dream come true.
What impressed me even more was the multi-format approach. My book is now available not just in print, but also as an eBook and audiobook — something I never imagined possible so early in my career.
Overall, I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to publish with Pegasus. For any writer looking for a professional, caring, and flexible publishing experience, I highly recommend working with them.

I will always be grateful to Pegasus Publishers for publishing my novel. It can be a challenging and daunting process starting out as a new author. Pegasus Publishers offers aspiring authors a point of entry into the world of writing, taking them from their rough draft to the final stages of publicity and marketing. The journey has definitely been worth the undertaking!
Many Thanks

Every round of feedback helped the book become stronger, and I genuinely learned so much through the process. They pushed me in the best way possible and made me feel like my work mattered. It was a true collaboration, and the finished product is something I’m deeply proud of.

I gave Pegasus Publishers my Illustrated children's book Granny and her Grouper, seven years work, they published it. Online it appeared to be everywhere, the only sales was from myself and my promotions. After three years asking for my royalty payments I still have not seen a cent. THEY HAVE DESTROYED MY BOOKS CHANCES OF BE REPUBLISHED.

Most words from some authors almost place Pegasus publishers as vanity publishing model which I will love the house to stand all haters, though I filled online form as required by the house and I am specific for traditional contract on a submitted manuscript titled Political Virtuous.

The process was so enjoyable because everyone involved at Pegasus made sure that I was informed and aware of every stage of the journey. The people are very friendly and communicative and it seems to pass very quickly. I am very satisfied with the finished product and I am so grateful that the team listened and acknowledged my wishes. Thank you Pegasus!

A lengthy process but I found all the staff at Pegasus helpful, polite and professional. The staff answered all my questions and directed me towards best practice. As a new author I needed direction and support and I found this forthcoming.
When choosing the book cover I rejected their ideas several times and they happily worked with me to get the result I wanted.
My book comes to the market soon and I have recently received my first twenty five copies and am extremely pleased with the result.
I now hope it sells! Only time will tell.
I would recommend Pegasus Publishing.
As of today we are just under one year since I agreed to work with them. In this twelve-month period, they have only completed the cover design which was after approximately eight months. I will say they did a good job on the cover.
I inquired in March of this year as to the status of the project, their response being "we will let you know when we hear something?" Seriously?
When I first reached out to them back in August of 2024, after signing three months prior with no correspondence to speak of I was told that the person handling my account had "been on holiday" and offered this as her reason for not responding to my inquire in almost three weeks. Again, seriously? I don't know anyone in the corporate world who would go on vacation without first having an auto response email set up or second having someone else in the company handle inquiries.
At this point I have absolutely no confidence in either their attitude, professionalism, or concern for keeping their clients' projects on any suitable timeline.
As one more thing to consider, when I expressed concern over the situation I was informed that our agreement does in fact give them 15 months to complete my book.
I would think that any company with honest intentions would work to complete things in as quick and efficient of a process as possible, not defer to the longest timeline they can possibly apply.
I read many of the negative reviews prior to signing with them (and paying $3700 U.S.) but being one to always give the benefit of the doubt I ignored the nay sayers.
Before I signed, I was also asked not to believe the negative press that was out there and although it seems like a percentage of clients have in fact had some success, for me I am left to believe what I see-not what I'm told and at this point all I can say is again I have no confidence in any positive outcome in my relationship with Pegasus publishing.
I have written two more criminal fiction books since signing with them and I can assure you they will never read so much as the first sentence of either.

"Delayed perhaps, but never defeated"
Absolutely appalling customer service, poor editing, poor communication, poor marketing. Very expensive and do not deliver. If I could give no stars I would.
PS I have yet to receive ANY royalties over a year on since my book was poorly published. do you have an answer for that?
