I recently discovered an unexpected charge of €39.99 from MOB. I had signed up for a free trial via an Instagram ad and completely forgot about it—I haven't even downloaded the app nor visited their website once. While many modern, professional companies now send reminder emails before a trial rolls over into a paid annual plan, MOB seemingly prefers the stealth approach.
I expected more from a brand that promotes health and "life hacks." It’s a shame their business model feels less considerate than their content.
When I contacted support to request a refund, citing the UK 14-day cooling-off period, I was met with a generic refusal. They quoted Section 6 of their T&Cs, claiming refunds aren't available once a paid plan starts.
MOB is conveniently ignoring that statutory rights under the Consumer Contracts Regulations override a company's private terms. A "no refund" policy is not legally enforceable for an unused digital service within the 14-day window.
It is a massive frustration to have to waste time filing a bank dispute and writing bad reviews when a simple, lawful refund would have solved everything. If you're considering a trial, be very careful—they will fight to keep your money even if you haven't used their service.

No reminder about 5 day free subscription coming to an end. Contacted customer service and got a response from Charlie who was rude and would not refund the years subscription. I have not used the site once. I explained I am awaiting surgery but no empathy or willingness to help at all!

Mob do a great job of posting recipes targets at specific things, as well as keep abreast of new ideas/trends on social media without promoting endless scrolling. It means I feel like I'm not missing out now that I've cut down my social media use

I’m so tired of these non USA companies that think they can just come into our market to rip off Americans. I signed up for a trial and immediately encountered problems with a glitchy/slow platform. Tried to cancel the trial right away but the subscription was not on my Apple subscriptions, which made me very confused as I was pretty sure I started the trial using iOs/Apple. It took me some time to figure out that I had to cancel through their website instead, and when I get there I was not able to click cancel because the site was so slow and the window closed as if it crashed down.

I actually thought their trial was 7 days and not 5 (why 5? Is this on purpose?) so when they charge my account, I immediately contact them and request a refund for $59.99 but they flat-out refused it even though I tried to cancel before the charge hit.
This seems to happen to a lot of people based on other reviews.

I obviously disputed the charge with my bank and will be reporting this to my state Attorney General Consumer Protection and the FTC (federal trade commission and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).

Stay away from this Mob.co.uk app if you value user friendly platforms, easy cancellations and fair refunds.

Don't get lured in by the free trial! It was very hard to cancel. Somehow I had two accounts and couldn't cancel the trial in the app. By the time I worked it out, I'd been charged AUD$70 and they refused a refund. Very disappointing, wish I'd read the other 1 star reviews before doing the trial. Customer service refused to help.

I love the recipes they’ve been a lifesaver with my busy schedule. Especially for meal prep, they save so much time and energy. The only thing I’d suggest is adding a video, as visual representation can make a big difference.

I’ve been looking at Mob for a while and after looking at the reviews on Reddit and some of them influencers that I follow on Instagram, I decided to try it for a year. I haven’t been disappointed. I’m still getting used to the app, but the recipes and dishes are fairly easy to make and delicious.

Don’t get lured in by the free trial. Despite not using it and not seeing where to cancel it in my Apple subscription, I emailed Mob to cancel and conveniently I did not receive a reply until after the subscription charge had come out. This company is not interested in helping, they literally just want your money upfront as their cancellation process feels intentionally difficult to cancel. The email help at Mob is now not working as my messages are now undeliverable and going into their spam account. I suspect I’ve been blocked for challenging this model despite being professional in my reponses. It is very clear Mob are not interested in refunding my money. Wish I’d read the reviews before as it’s clearly a scam!

I signed up after seeing this recipe website advertised on Instagram on 21 February and believed I was starting a free one-week trial via Apple Pay. However, I was unable to log in at all, and the site then repeatedly prompted me to pay again via Apple Pay.

There was no way for me to access or manage an account without being asked to make another payment, which immediately raised concerns. I therefore decided I did not want to proceed.

What worried me further was reading other reviews from people who reported difficulty cancelling subscriptions, despite the advertising making the process sound simple and risk-free. This significantly reduced my confidence in the service.

I contacted the company to cancel while well within the consumer rights cooling-off period and requested confirmation that no funds would be taken. The overall experience felt unclear and stressful rather than straightforward.

I would advise others to proceed with caution.

In my subscriptions, so thought I didn’t subscribe. Never used the app as I thought I never subscribed then got charged £34.99. I asked for my money back, was told NO REFUNDS, check it out we have lots of nice recipes. Why don’t you give me a refund? I don’t want to use your app?

I signed up for a free trial. It lapsed by 1 day and I was billed for a year. I am veggie and didn't find a very good range of veggie recipes which is why I didn't log on after the first downloading the app. I contacted customer service and they sent an automated dismissive email response saying they would not refund me. When I tried to respond to the email they blocked my email and I am no longer able to contact them. Appalling customer service and a total scam company. Avoid at all costs!!

Tried to cancel and had no help. Sub went through and I need the money for other things. They refuse to refund even though I have evidence that I tried to cancel well within the time.

Love this app. The recipes are easy to make and totally delicious. We love that there are lots of different types of meals and also lots of great lunch meal prep options. My favourite feature is that you can pick the number of servings and it adjusts the ingredients!

Looked to take out the free trial, all seemed fine. Signed up via website. No way to cancel via website. Contacted customer services who don’t seem to understand what is going on. Asking for info they don’t have (last 4 of card details - Apple Pay doesn’t disclose this to the company) seem to be going in circles so I’ve removed all cards from Apple pay, have retained emails where I’ve continually asked to cancel (as evidence when I undoubtably need to contact my bank for the chargeback and block them that way)

Reading other reviews this seems to be a common issue (regretting not checking here first now!)

5 day free trial that you can’t get out of - avoid (went to cancel within the hour, glad I didn’t leave it any longer!)

My go-to recipe website/app. Everything I've ever made from here has been a hit, so it's my first port of call for anything new (or if I fncy a Mob version of a classic - the beef stroganoff is the best I've ever made)

Great recipes, quick easy and delicious . A beautiful and clever app. I love the search functions based on how you want to cook as well as what you want to eat. My family is loving it

Been using the app for about a year. Its my go to for meal planning over the weekend, lots of options with new stuff all the time. Nutrition info can be a bit off, but they're good at making updates if you spot an error.

Great recipes. Really useful when you feel a bit uninspired and short on time.

Some great recipes on here. Really easy instructions. Slightly frustrating that two people can’t share shopping list updates when signed in to same account on different phones. And the shopping list sometimes does erase once ticked off. But small fixable things in a otherwise interesting and tasty food app

This app is amazing. People often criticise it because there are many ways of getting free recipes but to be honest, I have meal prepped since I bought this app and it is so much easier to search for a tasty and healthy meals where you know exactly what you are eating. Every single recipe has been delicious! Instructions are easy to follow and the fact that they make your grocery list is the best. I have saved money with this app and feel much better since i’ve been eating healthy meals. One small suggestion would be to add more veggies to the dishes, but overall it has been a great experience using this app.
