I paid over 5k for services and basically got a copy paste of everything I already had in my private ancestry profile. It took months to get that information, the pretty small filled narrative of information I already knew. The plus side, was the discovery of my blood ancestors through my self-paid DNA test. My friend asked for recommendations from me on their work and I honestly couldn't. I gave her the info I am giving you now.

I provided a previous family-history report with a clear and singular goal: finding the next ancestors above the one in the report I provided. After $5300 worth of my money spent, LTG told me they could not find anything because the required records were lost in a fire. No one with integrity should charge $5300 for this feedback, which could easily be discovered in 1 -2 hours of work by someone who knows what they are doing. Shameful.

I had a piece of research carried out by Legacy, which uncovered new information about my ancestral line.  They gave a proposal for a second piece of work to extend further back, which I agreed to, even though I thought they had reached as far back as they could. I paid and waited seven months. When they delivered this second piece of work it was a re-hash of the previous research and some general background information.  Nothing else.  I complained to them and informed them that I was very displeased, and reiterated that they had already reached as far back on the first project.   I was fobbed off and told there were no guarantees.  This second effort was very poor.  Feels like a company in trouble, so be careful about parting with your cash

I found it helps having tips from an expert and being given suggestions to work on. You only get out of it what you put in, so it is best to do as much research first as possible and that helps in being able to follow certain lines etc. I like the video call and being able to share my documents once I got over the initial nerves of using Zoom. My researcher was great in advising me on how to navigate the screen so soon I felt comfortable and at ease. I would recommend using Legacy since they know a lot more than you do and have links to many sources

Legacy Tree Genealogists knocked it out of the park. They provided an extraordinary final product that reflected consummate professionalism and commendable thoroughness. Their work was also timely and complete. Also, they provided updates and asked questions to better conduct their research.

They are thorough - so you may not get any new ancestors in one go but it's the thoroughness that will ensure it will actually be correct when they do vs someone else taking the quicker and easier option that is actually false.

These are the people if you want to get a CIA-level investigation, hehe. Again, I just used them for the first time in about 5 years and I'm very happy.

I WAS ASKED TO PAY £9,000 WHICH I WAS WILLING TO DO, I PAID AN INITIAL £3008 I FOUND THE APPLICATION PROCESS VERY LONG WINDED. DEREK TOMLIN ASSIGNED AS PROJECT MANAGER INTRODUCED HIMSELF IN AN EMAIL WHICH DESCRIBED HIMSELF AS HAVING A PASSION FOR FAMILY HISTORY WITH OVER 20 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND HAVING SERVED AS MILITARY INTELLIGENCE FOR NEARLY 30 YEARS, YET COULD NOT REGISTER THE INFORMATION I GAVE HIM ABOUT MY FAMILY. AT ONE POINT HE ASKED IF MY 145 YEAR OLD DECEASED GRANDMA WAS SIBLINGS WITH MY 50 YEAR OLD SIBLING, WHERE THEY DO THAT AT IN MILITARY INTELLIGENCE?THIS WAS AN IMMEDIATE RED FLAG, NO ONE WITH THE EXPERIENCE AND PASSION HE CLAMS TO HAVE WOULD MAKE THAT SLIP UP, NOT ONCE BUT THREE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS WHILE EMAILING BACK A FORTH HIS PASSION WAS CLEARLY NON EXISTENT. I STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE TAKING ADVANTAGE OF LOST SLAVE HISTORY TO BENEFIT FROM FEDERAL TRUSTS IN OUR NAME, THEY ASK FOR I.D THAT ISN’T MANDATORY TO ACCESS GOVERNMENT DATA MAKES NO SENSE. ANYWAY ONCE I CAUGHT WIND OF SOMETHINGS NOT ADDING UP I REQUESTED A REFUND AND BEFORE MAKING A PAYMENT WAS TOLD I COULD HAVE A REFUND AT ANY STAGE MINUS £20 WHICH WAS ADMIN FEE, SO I WAS MIS-SOLD THE SERVICE. TURNS OUT THEY TOOK £351.13 FOR GATHERING INFORMATION ON ME, I THANK GOD HE STOPPED ME FROM WASTING A LARGER AMOUNT OF MONEY WITH THIS FRAUDULENT COMPANY, WHATEVER IT IS THEY THINK THEY CAN DO WITH OUR BLACK HISTORY YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE WON’T BE IN OUR INTEREST. SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE AND AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE. NO RECOMMENDATIONS FROM ME

Legacy Tree was my first choice to find my unknown father, I didn’t have a name to give LT to start with, only my DNA results. I believe having my DNA results helped immensely in finding a first cousin who was willing to accept me.
Carol, my Project Manager was very professional, friendly, going above and beyond to keep me updated along the way.

I wouldn’t hesitate to use LTG again and I want to say thank you to Carol and the wonderful researchers who helped with my project for their hard work and giving me the information I had requested at the beginning of this journey.

Eight years ago, I tried to encourage a couple of genealogists to help me find my biological father using very limited biographical information and my DNA results. Both told me that their search would probably be fruitless.
A year or so ago I decided to try again with legacytree's help. They have identified my father with 99% certainty, provided a 7-generation genealogy "tree" and directed me to a person that i can contact. It's not currently clear if that person will respond. However, if they don't, having the genealogy tree, there are other potential points of contact.
Also, I've learned a bit about how genealogists ply their trade which has been interesting in itself.

The goal I submitted to LTG was to find my bloodline via DNA. That goal was approved on 6 Feb 2024 and LTG processed my payment of $2,950.00. By April 2024 my project had reached the top of the queue and I was contacted by an LTG project manager, but as we corresponded I was redirected, coached, and pressured into addressing totally different issues rather than moving forward with my goal. LTG staff knew I was clearly conflicted, but told me that research staff had time constraints. With chemo brain, illness, and exhaustion, I succumbed to their terms—in my opinion—clearly under duress.

I received a final report 28 June 2024. LTG had added documents to my online family tree using 30 year old public research sources already available to me and anyone else. After LTG had usurped research hours I'd paid for, I was told that the information posted could be deleted by anyone. Had LTG disclosed that little tidbit of information beforehand I would have canceled the project before any research hours were used. Most disturbing was LTGs end of report recommendation: that I continue research with LTG and use the DNA route in order to establish bloodline…the very goal I submitted at the get-go that LTG had refused to honor.

I asked for a full, then partial refund due to LTGs misguidance and pressuring me to accept staff’s suggestions. LTG refused to refund any portion of my $2,950.00.

LTG methods in redirecting my goals, not disclosing specifics of research hours, providing email communication spattered with twisted truths, leaving a multitude of spelling and typographical errors in the final report, providing reformatted sources already available to anyone online, etc.—in my opinion—points to LTG being focused more on profit making than meeting clients’ goals.

Legacy Tree Genealogists states that it is protected with its “no guarantee” clause, and although staffers were cordial, I was not a valued client. My approved goal was dismissed and LTG profited from my vulnerability.

I contacted them in December of 2023 to try and find when my family came to America. After 6 months of "researching" they told me they couldn't do anything without a DNA test which I was hesitant to do. After being told multiple times they couldn't be successful without a DNA test I relented and had one done with the company they recommended (FamilyTree DNA). After getting the results, the company placed me in the wrong family. When i questioned the results, it was treated more like an episode of Maury rather than a serious query. I was then told to do a second DNA test, which i did and that test placed me back in the correct family. When I asked about a refund or any sort of compensation for being told my parents weren't my parents, i was told i would be contacted and then no one ever reached out. Do not use this company.

My first experience with Legacy Tree was great. The researcher kept me apprised of her progress all along the way. I feel the researcher made a difference. The final project was detailed and over 100 pages of information.
I was so pleased with the first project that I commissioned a second on the maternal side of my family. This researcher did not communicate with me at all and the time drug on. When the project was completed I received a binder of about 16 pages of information that I provided mostly. Also they did not address a portion of my initial request.
When I reached out to the project coordinator to address to rest of my request she brushed me off and did not acknowledge that there was little additional information in their final report.
I would not suggest this company to anyone.

Legacy Tree Genealogists was an absolute pleasure to work with. Professional, friendly, thorough, kind. I needed to have an ancestor traced in order to apply for membership to the DAR and they went above and beyond and found so much information to help me on my journey. I had been researching an ancestor from Germany whose information in this country was very limited. I chose Legacy Tree to doe some focus research in Germany that I could not do to an inability to speak the language and access the approbate archives. Working with my project manager to focus on answering particular questions that I had, the team was able to uncover documentation to verify and confirm that the relationships were correct as well as the final resting place of my ancestor. The communication and resulting report and documentation were excellent. While there are still many more mysteries to pursue, the team at Legacy Tree were very professional to deal with and helped me with issues that would have been otherwise unresolved.

I hired the LTG in 2022 for a research for my grandfather birth certificate in Spain. I suported the researcher's team providing them with two marriage certificate, one (civil) stated that my grandfather was born in CÁDIZ (This was my GOAL set) and the church certificate stated that he was born in Málaga. I've done myself a research in Málaga and there was not the place because I requested already to the civil registry and they sent a "negative certificate", that was the reason CÁDIZ was elected to be the GOAL.
I purchased a package of 25h from Legacy Tree Genealogists which costs U$2750. They ignored my original GOAL they have searched only in 2 places in CÁDIZ and then tried to find something in Malága. They simply shifted my GOAL on researching in CÁDIZ. The client when interested on purchasing a package has to make a full deposit in order to get the research started. LEGACY TREE GENEALOGISTS are a FRAUD. They will go through their own resources such as data, archives etc, they do not make any onsite research. If you are reading MY DEAR FRIEND this review pay attention that you can do it by yourself just go to FAMILYSEARCH.ORG and you can start your research. What they do is useless and do not worth the money. They provided a ridiculous services and do not care about customer satisfaction. DO NOT THROW YOUR MONEY THROUGH THE WINDOW. To sum up Legacy Tree Genealogists act like this : They offer their service (terrible) in researching your ancestors and if the customer did not find it satisfactory, WHATEVER REASONS, then it's not the Legacy Tree Genealogists problem anymore. They assum that they are the best company in the world in terms of genealogy and they do not admit they make mistakes. On their mind their job is flawless. I truly would like to advice you dear friend DO NOT HIRE ANY SERVICES OF THIS COMPANY. Regarding searching your own ancestors I'm sure you can do yourself a great job. Good Lucky.

These people are real professionals. They solved a couple of major family questions. They are easy to work with. You get what you pay for.
