Very unprofessional behavior to promise prospective employees more than you are able to bargain from employers. I have always avoided recruitment agencies - Nigel Frank changed my mind a lot about them.
Another recruitment agency contacting me? Oh great - have to respond to another recruiter that doesnt know anything about my industry, experience level, or job market. Thats what I usually think (because its usually true). Nigel Frank took a few calls to get to know me and presented me with about half a dozen interesting opportunities in a 2 month period, ultimately finding me a position that wasnt anything like I was looking for but that suited me perfectly.
I've come to realize that a good recruitment agency that can really delve into both sides of the table and find a good match is something quite valuable.
