IDeal Auto Protect is a SCAM!!!!!
IDeal Auto Protect is a scam, do not use them! I thought I would give them some time to do the right thing but I realize it is not going to happen. Please read below:
Update, day 36: I had the transmission shop repair my vehicle. iDeal would only cover the torque converter and $250 in labor. The transmission needed a complete rebuild and it was $3424. iDeal refused to pay and will not honor their contract. Their inspector drove the vehicle after it broke down, despite the transmission shop telling him not to because it can cause additional damage to the transmission. This was exactly what they said I did causing additional damage. When the truck was showing signs of a transmission issue, I stopped driving it and had it towed to the shop.
1. I had the transmission go out on my 2017 Chevrolet Silverado on March 1st, 2023 and I had the vehicle towed to the transmission shop on the 2nd.
2. I called Ideal Auto Protect and left a message. Several days later I get a return call. To this day, out of approximately 30-40 calls they have never answered the phone on a customer service or claim prompt. The only time they answer is when you want to purchase a plan.
3. When I finally reach them, they told me they had to send an inspector to see the vehicle.
4. The inspector arrived at the shop several days later and demanded to see a breakdown of the transmission.
5. The transmission shop broke down the transmission and several days later the inspector went back to take pictures.
6. IDeal Auto Protect never answered a single call from the transmission shop. The shop always had to leave a message and wait for a return call. It takes several minutes on hold when you call before you can leave a message.
7. On approximately day 19 the transmission shop gets a response from IDeal; this is the text I received: “Hey Thomas, we just got off the phone with the warranty company. They said the inspector reported that the torque converter failed and due to it failing, it threw metal through the rest of the transmission causing that to fail as well. But that they will only be covering the torque converter since that’s what originally failed and the transmission failed ‘due to continued use of the vehicle after the torque converter failed’…. I recommend you give them a call. Because I don’t know how they expect the customer to detect their torque converter failed.”
8. So basically, the torque converter was failing, throwing metal into the transmission and I was supposed to know that. I had no indications of any issues until the truck didn’t run any longer. No noise, nothing.
9. They offered to send a torque converter to my transmission shop and a check for $250 for the repair. The entire repair is going to cost around $4000.00, the transmission shop told IDeal they would have to discuss this with me and as of today I have not received a single call. I’ve left numerous messages with no results. I selected the “purchase a plan” prompt and they pick up right away but not the customer service or the claim line. I told the woman on the purchase line I needed to get a call back and nothing.
10. So here I am on day 20 and my truck is not repaired. The transmission shop has been great since it’s been there the entire time and they have not charged me for storage or the breakdown of the transmission.
Dishonest Company - Stay Away!
UPDATE: After posting this negative review, I did receive payment fom iDeal Auto Protect for my claim, which I appreciate. I will note however that iDeal refused to pay for Audi-certified parts and encouraged I go to a mechanic that would install after market parts. This is okay, but I feel that this directly conflicted with the policy I purchased that stated in Vehicle Service Agreement Section VI, B. 8, "The following parts or services under the described circumstances will not be covered under this Vehicle Service Agreement: 8. Aftermarket parts which have not been approved by the vehicle's manufacturer".
I understand that the Audi parts are expensive. However, I do not understand why the warranty I purchased from IDeal Auto Protect would not cover a genuine Audi part. When I bought the car, I knew Audi maintenance prices were exorbitant and that is the reason I bought the warranty from iDeal Auto! Had this been a Chevy or a Ford, I would have not purchased this warranty. I don't understand why the warranty I purchased would not cover Audi parts to make this repair?

If I could give this company a 0 rating, I would. Extremely unethical business practices, they will string you along and never pay on a valid claim. I have dealt with them for over 4 months and their tactic is to wear you down until you give up.
BUYER BEWARE- do not purchase an extended warranty from this company!

I purchased a 2 year service contract…
I purchased a 2 year service contract for 2 different vehicles. I have had three issues that WERE covered by the "Elite+" agreement. On one project, IdealAuto approved the repair and the mechanic did it. However, IdealAuto NEVER PAID THEM for the service, so I ended up having to pay him for it. Another service on an a/c repair. They sent out "an adjuster" to view the car. He stood OUTSIDE the vehicle with his child by his side, then left and stated the a/c was working fine. He never even opened the door to the car! After two weeks and about 15 phone calls, Ideal WOULD NOT even send someone out to inspect the vehicle again. THIS COMPANY IS A SHAM from New Jersey. You will receive NO SERVICE from them. Instead, you'll get to speak to their "customer service specialist" who sometimes answers the phone.

Shaun Michael is a very pleasant and helpful person. He went above and beyond to ensure that all my concerns were handled in a professional and courteous manner and promptly. He has excellent customer service skills and a bubbly personality. It’s comforting for me as a new customer to know that I have Shaun as a valuable resource. I highly recommend him as an asset to this company and if I could give him a higher rating than five stars I would gladly do so without any hesitation.

Absolutely not!!! Josh and his team are total frauds. My husband and I have been dealing with a claim on our Maserati for over 55 days!!!!!! They have now ghosted us and ghosted the service advisor at the dealership we have our Maserati at. When purchasing the aftermarket warranty we were promised good customer service, genuine Maserati parts and so much more in our WRITTEN contract. When it came time to make a claim to fix a part that was so clearly listed in our WRITTEN CONTRACT they pulled every line in the book to not have to fork over the money. After settling for part of the job, it took them weeks to send a part to our dealer. After being promised over and over by JOSH that it would be a genuine part, the part came in was in fact NOT a genuine Maserati part and Josh told us to “deal with it”. After that they failed to give proper authorization for the repair. Josh and his team have ignored countless calls, voicemails and emails. When we do get ahold of someone we are met with condescending attitudes. Do not waste your time or money with this company. They are all frauds and will leave you in the dust when you need them.

First let me say that all the 5 star reviews are fake! I would give Zero stars if it would allow me. This company is a total scam! We bought the warranty for my daughters car. We filed a claim through Joshua Walker and he approved the repairs which were done by a local shop. For a while Joshua would tell me at least once a week that the bill would be paid by end of week, and that day would come and go with no payment. I would get Joshua on the phone the next week and the same promise would be made, and the same result … no payment. I have the shop calling me telling me I have to pay the bill almost on a daily basis. Now Joshua doesn’t answer my calls and doesn’t return any of my calls when I leave him voice mails. I honestly don’t think anyone else works for this “company”. IT IS A SCAM! Do not get a warranty through this company! I’ve filed a complaint through the BBB. THIS IS A TOTAL SCAM. I’ve read many reviews similar to mine. Unfortunately I didn’t see these reviews before I purchased.
