the auction house Wellsbright auction never picked up the phone, they never returned my messages, when asked where the car was to be checked, they never came back to me.
on this, the final day, I was the highest bidder when the time ran out. the reserve had been met. then the screen said sorry.
this is a con auction house.
their ratings are terrible with lots of very angry customers. I suppose I thought it wouldn't happen to me. I think you should seriously think about keeping Wellsbright on your system.
It has made me and my team very cynical about using ibidder again.

Warning: Avoid buying vehicles from i-bidder and Smart Asset Solutions Ltd
I want to share my experience to hopefully prevent someone else from going through the same situation.
I have given, i-bidder 72 hours to reply to email I sent them, with this email and all the information on before posting this on here with no reply from them
I recently bid on a Porsche Cayenne Coupe 3.0 (Reg: KR23 OGP) through i-bidder, listed by Smart Asset Solutions Ltd. The vehicle looked excellent cosmetically, and the description and photos made it seem like a great deal—almost too good to be true.
While it was mentioned that the car was a “V Car,” there was no clear information about serious structural damage underneath. Only after payment was I advised not to drive the vehicle and to delay collection. That’s when the alarm bells started ringing.
At that point, what seemed like a dream purchase turned into a nightmare.
With the 30% hammers and Vat this purchase £15,456.00 the Total amount was £43,534.80 for a lump of metal
I cancelled the purchase within hours, but due to their terms and conditions, I still lost £9,936 including VAT in fees. The costs and charges are excessive and, in my opinion, completely unreasonable given the circumstances.
Smart asset solutions, made me retract an email I sent about complaining and I feel I was being bullied about this before I would get any payment back
To make matters worse:
• Smart Asset Solutions Ltd appears to be a very new company and is not even listed on Trustpilot. (I will be doing them a review if there ever get on trustpilot)
• The vehicle will likely be re-listed, meaning someone else could fall into the same trap.
I take some of responsibility for not doing enough due diligence better—but feel both companies know what they were doing
This happened Easter Friday 3rd of April 2026
I’m sharing this so others don’t make the same mistake. I am currently seeking advice from Trading Standards and may pursue legal guidance regarding this matter. I also trust that your company will review this listing carefully, as the condition appears to differ significantly from what was advertised.
This has left me very depressed all weekend, struggling to justify and deal with the loss of almost £10k in these hard and difficult times this has left me very close to the line
My advice:
• Do not bid unless you fully understand the risks.
• Always carry out independent checks.
• Never rely solely on listing descriptions or photos.

Ibidder complicit in corrupt selling
You will find no matter how big the theft or how corrupt the auction house, Ibidder will always be on their side. It has sold it soul for 4% (or whatever the commission is…).
So buy on the platform but no when you get done over by one of the conning corrupt auction houses (and there are many good ones as well…) that you’re on your own and they will be protected by Ibidder hiding behind its alleged T&Cs!

Be very careful with hidden charges, they are a very dear way of bidding on items , I unfortunately didn't read the t&cs, as someone else has stated screenshot your lot and terms and conditions, literally you can pay double of what your expecting and when your paying thousands that's quite a shock .
Problems with bidding
At the start of an auction I wad unable to see the bids so got hold of Kenneth at support. He quickly diagnosed it as a fault with my computer and talked me through the procedure to fix it, enabling me to bid. Impressed with the service.

What a disgrace of a company called to apologise about a genuine mistake by accident couldn’t get back in time to cancel the bid . Called straight away and was treated very rudely even though I politely apologised.

Title: Important to understand “Provisional Bid” and Underbid Invoicing
I want to share my experience so other bidders can proceed with caution and clarity.
In November 2025, I participated in a vehicle auction hosted via i-bidder. At 13:33 the platform confirmed I was no longer the highest bidder. However, 39 minutes later I received an email from the auctioneer stating “Congratulations, your provisional bid has been accepted” along with an invoice requiring payment within 24 hours by bank transfer.
As a bidder, this was confusing because I believed the auction had ended and that I had lost the lot.
The matter became complex and required involvement of my banks and further investigation. Ultimately, the auctioneer issued a full refund.
My advice to anyone using auction platforms:
• Screenshot the lot page before bidding
• Check the “Additional Fees” tab carefully
• Understand whether underbidders remain bound
• Be cautious of short payment deadlines
• Clarify in writing how a contract was formed
I recognise that i-bidder acts as a platform for independent auctioneers. However, bidders should fully understand how “provisional bid acceptance” works before participating.
I hope this helps others avoid confusion and stress

SCAM WITH Ibidder AND 247 AUCTION
Ibidder is simply a platform, it’s the sellers that are running scams, but Ibidder do nothing to help the buyer, none communication. I won 2 battery power backs on 247 auction . WARNING DONOT BID ON ANY ITEM FROM 247, COMPLETE SCAM. Operated by a idiot from home, I won two battery chargers, he sent me one and when I eventually got hold of the idiot he said and I quote “ you only paid £30 for the two, so having one is still good value” the item also did not work and he said they are customer returns, I would love to meet this company in person. I can not believe Ibidder let this happen, but of course they do as they support the scam to make money -

I find the web site really easy to use and I can check back on either what has happened on bids I have place or what I have coming up and I get real time emails that alert me to changes in my bid status of lots I am interested in.
I have been with i-bidder for many years and trust them. Recently I had an experience that was a first. I had trouble contacting an auction house to arrange delivery of my winning Bids. I emailed i-Bidder and received a reply and after supplying the key information to James he sorted everything out for me. James kept in frequent contact and updated me regularly. The auction house contacted me and my goods are on their way. Thank you James!

Won bid on I bidder to buy a van from Brightwell auctions.paid invoice plus vat for van Then received 2nd invoice demanding payment of fees +vat plus there own commission fees which were 800.00 +vat which totalled around 1450 extra .I said I was not happy with there fee and sent someone to talk to yhem at registered address but business not at this address?Phoned up Brightwell ànd asked to see van before I paid 2nd payment they gave address of were vsn was being stored .was told to make payment by 12.00 next day otherwise would be charged for storage.I made full payment at 10.00 next day rang hannah at Brightwell office to confirm payment and asked about collection of vehicle .She said would ring me back .I then received a 3rd invoice demanding a further payment of around 1400 pound for storage costs I was flabbergasted. I Rng up office spoke to manager who told me that if I didn't pay in full I had no chance of getting van I bought van.in July and still not got van off Brightwell s.i believe they have mot van and taxed it on.1st September and sold it on again.They have not replied to any of my letters. Now owed £4700 pounds
