Our experience at Held Health has been…

Our experience at Held Health has been fantastic, quick referral, kind and compassionate professionals and thorough assessments. The only thing I think they could improve on is communication eg when you email in, an acknowledgement that your email has been received and will be dealt with. Other than that they are great and engaged my son so well to seek out his diagnosis and what support he may need. Including him as part of the assessment and decisions has been key and done in a child inclusive manner ☺️

Dr Shakeel Ahmed created a very calming mood and environment for our son’s assessment. He explained everything to him in a manner he understood.

Good but needs to sort out replying to emails and telephone messages.

After spending 2 1/2 years on the NHS waiitng list and then being told it was likely going to be another 2 year wait, it was a relief to be seen by Held Health relatively quickly. Once we had our appointment it all went smoothly and efficiently. However, it is impossible to contact Held Health if you have a query, they do not reply to phone messages or emails, so that is very frustrating and leads to unnecessary worry and anxiety. If it hadnt been for that, I may have given them five stars.

We also sincerely apologise for the frustration caused when trying to contact us afterwards. As a growing service, we have experienced periods of exceptionally high demand, and we recognise that our communication and response times have not always met the standard our patients deserve. We completely understand how this can lead to unnecessary worry and anxiety, particularly when patients are navigating healthcare decisions and need reassurance or timely answers.

Improving communication is a major focus for us moving forward. We are actively expanding our customer support team, reviewing our response processes, and introducing improvements to ensure patients can reach us more easily and receive quicker, more consistent updates and support.

The assessor really helped with my son…

The assessor really gelled with my son and he was able to be himself. She was knowledgeable and I came away thinking I'm so glad she was assigned to us. Medication waitlist seems shorter from the sounds of things than other providers too. Overall we've had a positive experience with Held Health.

We have had a very positive experience…

We have had a very positive experience with Held Health so far. They took the time to clearly explain my daughter’s diagnosis to me and really helped me understand what has been happening and what the next steps are. We are now waiting for the medication process to begin.

The process through the Right to Choose pathway did take longer than originally quoted and, in total, we have waited just over a year. However, I appreciate that demand for these services has increased significantly, which has understandably affected waiting times. Despite this, it has still been much quicker than the alternative local pathway would have been for us.

Throughout the process, we have felt listened to and supported, and I am grateful for the help and reassurance we have received so far.

Right to choose is often a quicker…

Right to choose is often a quicker route to getting the support you seek, but it's not guaranteed that the experience will be any less chaotic than the NHS. The wait time with Held was lengthy, the communication atrocious, they lost our first set of paperwork, and the engagement with my eight year old ranged from dismissive to patronising...we got the diagnosis we needed but it wasn't a pleasant experience.

ASD assessment and follow up care

Great experience with my two boys with their ASD diagnosis. Clinical staff where lovely and put us all at ease. Communication can be tricky now as they are getting more busy. Follow up courses are very useful.

The autistic communication workshop was very helpful

The autistic communication workshop was very helpful as it was structured in a way that the info provided was applicable to a wider range of needs and situations. Bethany and Clare were very knowledgeable, and conducted the call in a calm and supportive manner without pressure. Many questions that were asked by other parents were the ones I wanted to ask, so I benefitted as well. I felt sad though to see how many other schools are not making reasonable adjustments, especially after receiving reports and diagnosis, something that crashes you down after the long journey to get there, maybe something needs more work on this front...but at least, I left not feeling alone.
