The overall experience
The overall experience and depth of detail in Find my Past is excellent, however the price of subscription is (in Australia) almost beyond affordability for pensioners such as myself. We find we need to "rest" between annual subscriptions in order to keep our research going.

I find the user interface of Findmypast…
I find the user interface of Findmypast to be the most user-friendly of the 'big 4' subscription databases, and their access to the collections of British newspapers is a much-used bonus.

More focussed records
I have quite a few brick walls in Ireland, as do most people. The records and newspapers are more focussed. Note: the newspapers are not an add on, they are included. At times you may still need to go to an external source to see the original. Of course, they still can't conjure up the missing records!

Viewing old newspapers can not only place you ancestory in set time and place, it can also tell what was happening in that period. It is a fantastic way to continue researching.
Plus there is amazing records to help with tracking down your long lost rellie.

Fortunately FMP offered a special that…
Fortunately FMP offered a special that came within my budget which has made genealogy research a joy once again. It took a little time to figure out but well and truly worth the effort & have now succeeded and have found a lot of documentation & newspaper stories that has helped with so many ancestors stories. I saved for a couple of years but fell short of the membership cost. Will miss it when my time is up.

I have been chasing past rellies and succeded very well.…
I have been chasing past rellies and their descendants for about 50 years (I am 85 years old now and have always called Australia home) and have used both Findmypast and Ancestry with good results on both sites. Findmypast has been much better for finding non USA rellies.

I love the range of records available.
I love that when you put a search in - it tells you how many hints come up that represent your search criteria.
I love that I can get all of the Scottish BDM available and that they are included in my subscription price.
