Verification to hire you get left in the wind no honest response. Support team is like a robot and isn't there to help!

Due to one crucial mishap, I could not leave a five‑star review. However, I am happy to give Melvin four stars for his excellent customer service. He was well‑spoken, polite, helpful, and quick to resolve the issue to the best of his ability.

I was having trouble getting anything done in the app but using the instant messaging customer service my man JEREMY was very helpful. Quick replies clear and easy to understand instructions, when he seen I was having more troubles he jumped in and was able to be of help before having to ask again. Absolute stud of a guy made the troubles I was having seem like nothing. Jeremy should be looked at as a role model for all customer service teams out there he’s going straight to the top what a guy.

Everything was good until it wasn't.
I hired the car in January 2025 for a reasonable price with x amount of km's included.
Today in August 2025 I received a bill for $134.53 for km"s driven. This is outrageous and the payment was never authorised. They just helped themselves to my bank account. That's 7mths ago !!
No where was a pay per km's travelled clause. I have a photo of original invoice. Just so annoying. Dodgy businesses man !

Unfortunately I had a very bad experience and most of it could have been avoided. I picked up the vehicle on time to find it unlocked and ignition on so the battery was flat. After contacting the Host (who was very helpful) and Drivemate I waited for 2 separate RACQ vans to come and replace the battery and I lost 3 hours. The worst part was that I was over charged $380 dollars for the kms as the previous person hadn't recorded there km's correctly????I took a photo once the battery was replaced so we knew this upfront but they still overcharged and I had to chase for 3 weeks after been promised many times they would credit. I wasn't credited anything for the inconvenience. It should just work but there needs to be a quick check of the vehicle between rents and the payment credit process is dodgy at best.

Drivemate’s customer service using WhatsApp instant messaging was faultless! Immediately responsive and found solutions to questions and issues each time and very promptly. My service assistant Amber was friendly, polite and super helpful. Thanks Amber.

Convenience wise… The app booking system is pretty straightforward and easy to use. Communication with owners and service team is streamlined. The whole system works well.

The cheap car rental prices can be deceiving though. Added protection options are good but costly and boosts the price up. And the “pay for distance” is fine for short city trips but still more expensive than buying your own petrol. Taking extended road trips is not an economical option.

They did not offer an included number of kms or an unlimited kms option like other car rental companies for peace of mind. This would make prices competitive with other car rental companies.

I have booked over ten times with drivemate by now. Half the time the car is not at the location described, the app doesnt allow to unlock /start the booking/Im on the phone to customer service. As I have spoken to customer service many times, I can advise they are friendly and pick up fairly quickly to assist, so I would rate 1 star for smoothness of pick up, 2 star for app in general, and 4 star for customer service. Overall this is just not good enough and not half as good as carnextdoor used to be. Would advise anyone to trial an alternative. I will not give them another go.

Drive Mate managed the rental of my car. Somebody rented it for 21 days. On day 11, they contacted Drive Mate and complained that the car had broken down. Drive Mate made me arrange where the car would be towed. My mechanic assessed that the car had been in an accident and caused the radiator to leak, so the car broke down. So the renter had had an accident in the car, and was responsible for the repairs. After 1 month of trying to deal with Drive Mate, they assessed that it was an existing mechanical fault of the car that caused it to break down. Now I have a completely destroyed car sitting in a temporary parking space and Drive Mate says it has nothing to do with them. They also cancelled the trip, so I didn't even get any money for that rental (should have been over $1,000). And I paid for the tolls they used on the trip. So I'm completely out of pocket, and my $14,000 car is completely broken down and likely a write off. I'm so angry and they haven't even asked for an independent assessment on what happened to the car. This is ridiculous. Why use them? Just rent to random strangers, because if they get in an accident, Drive Mate won't help you!

Terrible company and taking them to NCAT. abysmal customer service being passed from pillar to post with no accountability or escalation. They regularly breach Australian consumer law & privacy law and do not take allegations seriously, nor do they take dispute resolution seriously.
even after agreeing to process a refund, a week later I’m still waiting on the funds or an update. They don’t care about customers. They only take your money. I look forward to holding them accountable with NSW fair trading.

Jeremy was a great help with my application as a new user for drive mate.

Poor quality of vehicle, very slow refund of deposit and terrible app that made it hard to access and return the vehicle.

The biggest scam company in the whole world drivemate is trying too extort money out of me when they have ignored me and my refunds for nearly a whole year . They couldn't care less don't even think renting from here you will be punished and scammed to the max . No matter what they say it's all lies go anywhere but too drivemate .
