Good for charities due to match-funding
Match-funding made a huge difference to our campaign so for that reason alone I would have given 5 stars. The reason I gave 4 stars is because it was a bit confusing as to how the charity page related to the project page and there seemed to be a lot of duplication in the admin. The communications also give the impression that it will be easy to get answers to any questions you have but actually I couldn't find a way to just call someone with questions and it took a long time for anyone to respond to questions I submitted by the online contact form.

Hello Sue,
Thanks so much for taking the time to leave your considered feedback.
We're so glad to hear you've had a good experience and benefitted from the match funding available through our platform.
I'll pass your feedback on regarding setting up your charity page to the correct team.
We would love it if we could manage to speak to everyone on the phone, however, with up to 200 projects added a day, we just cannot speak to everyone and only talk over the phone if absolutely necessary.
We are a small team and want to help as many people as possible in a day and email is the best way to do this. We aim to answer all queries within 1 working day, although during busy periods this can take a little longer.
We hope to help you Crowdfund again in the future!
Kind Regards,
Emily

Say that it's free
Say that it's free, then charge supporters and also withdrawal at end. It would be better if they were honest upfront, people wouldn't mind so much.

Hello Amanda,
Thanks for taking the time to leave a review with your feedback.
I'm sorry that you didn't find the information about fees clear when setting up your Crowdfunder page. We have our full list of fees on our website and before you set your page live, your fee structure was displayed along with our Terms & Conditions for you to agree to.
We have waived our Crowdfunder Platform fees for charities, community and personal projects. You were charged 0% platform fee by Crowdfunder but please note the payment processor we use will still charge their fee which is typically 2.4% plus 20p per transaction (plus VAT).
When making a pledge or donation, supporters have the option to leave Crowdfunder a tip. They can choose how much or how little to give, or if they would like to tip at all.
The tip is used by Crowdfunder so that we can help more projects. As we do not charge any platform fees for projects that are charitable causes, not for profit and personal fundraisers, we therefore rely on the generosity of those that can afford it, to tip the platform. It's through voluntary tips that we can break even and can cover our staff costs.
We hope that you will continue to use Crowdfunder to support great causes in the future.
Warm regards,
Crowdfunder Customer Support
Looks the part, little disorgnaised
Looks the part, but terribly convoluted when you are a charity looking to use the platform. Registering took an age, and even when that was done, they misallocated you as a completely different entity, and welcomed you as a political party and not a charity.
If I am to trust them to keep dononations safe, and ensure those donations are allocated to the charity and not disappear elsewhere, then I need something a little more organised, and little more trustworthy.

Thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback.
I'm sorry to hear about your experience, I can see you spoke to my colleague earlier via email who let you know that you ticked to indicate you were a political party when setting up your profile and then received an email in relation to this.
You can be reassured that Crowdfunder is a trustworthy website and charities have raised millions of pounds through our platform.
I'll pass on your feedback to the relevant team, and we hope to help your fundraise in the future.

Great facility but you still need to get you message out there!
The web site is great and easy to use, for setting up a project and for contributing to it - ie it was easy for people to make funding contributions. I guess what I hadn’t appreciated was how important it is to have an effective strategy for getting the message out to people who might want to contribute

Hello Paul,
Thanks for taking the time to leave a review!
We're delighted to hear that you found the Crowdfunder platform easy to use!
You are right that it is really important to have a good plan in place before launching your Crowdfunder! To help our project owners with getting started, we’ve launched our Knowledge Hub, which has a wealth of information and tools to help with planning, creating, running, and delivering your project:
https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/knowledge-hub
Our Crowdfunder Social Media Hub has all of our best tips for promoting your project and driving those pledges:
https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/guides/social-media
When you crowdfund, typically only people that you know or friends of friends are likely to pledge. I'm sorry if you know this already, however people can sometimes be under the misconception that when they put a project on Crowdfunder, strangers will come and pledge lots of money on it. This unfortunately is not often the case in reality.
We recommend reaching out to friends, family, colleagues and other people in your close social circle to ask for support when launching your Crowdfunder. Then, once you have a good number of supporters behind the campaign, it's easier to spread the word and utilise social media.
We hope you find this information useful for your future Crowdfunders!
Kind regards,
The Crowdfunder Support Team

Main issue is that you are not sure if your purchase will increase in value.
Selling is not a problem if you have an asset which is increasing over time.

Hello,
Thanks so much for your review of Crowdfunder, the online crowdfunding, fundraising and grant funding platform.
Typically a supporter would donate or 'pledge' on our platform rather than making a purchase or investing (other than in our Community Share projects).
It sounds like you could have us mixed up with someone else but if you do need to discuss a concern you might have please get in touch via our support channels and we'd be happy to address any concerns you have.
Kind regards,

Charging investors a fee, then charging fees again on payout was seen as a negative.

Hello Matthew,
Thanks so much for your thoughtful feedback.
We're super happy to hear that you've found the platform easy to use and had the support you needed from our team.
We believe in fair pricing and full transparency on fees. Our standard platform fee for community shares such as your project is 3% + VAT on the first £300,000 raised and 2% + VAT on any amount raised over £300,000.
We do not charge supporters a fee on their donations/investment though. When making a payment, they do have the option to leave Crowdfunder a tip though. They can choose how much or how little, or if they want to tip at all.
The tip is used by Crowdfunder so that we can help more projects. We do not charge any platform fees for projects that are charitable causes, not for profit and personal fundraisers. Half way there
We raised half of our target amount which will fund the first half of our leaflets for this year. Having never set up a fundraising account before, and not being a big fan of technology, it was relatively simple.
I have a better understanding of how this works now.
