Our experience with Bunk Campers
The Collection and return of the Van was really easy and fast so that was good. None the less, the equipment of the Van wasnt at all what the Internet promised it to be. The Kitchen had almost no equipment even tough it should have. The price is really high when you compare it to roadsurfer by example. When we booked we saw the option „linen“ we thought that would mean just the covers for the bed and pillows etc. But it was the whole bedding, you have to pay 50€ just to have pillows and covers what we think is just too expensive. And it wasnt clear that we would need it. The Gas used for heating and cooking is lpg so you have to refill it at chosen locations around scotland and cant just buy a bottle what made it hard is that you have to return it full. The closest lpg refill location was 1h away from the return point. Overall we were a little disappointed with all the extras you have to buy just to use the van correctly. On the road it was really loud in the van everything rattled and was shaking because of the poor road quality and the quality of the inside of the Van.

A check list would be helpful
The camper van we were issued had more than five items that needed attention which we discovered while away in it. It was as if the check list for issuing the campervan had not been checked before it was given to us. Some serious such as grey water leaking and no reversing camera to minor such as only one desert bowl.

Excellent trip
The staff were so helpful and friendly. Everything from pickup to drop-off went as planned. The camper was clean and comfortable, the only complaint we had was the fridge didn't keep food cold but that didn't stop us having a fantastic time. A little information in the camper regarding campsites, chemical waste disposal points and the working of the camper would be helpful, there was a lot of areas we were in with no internet. All in all, excellent trip. Thank you.

Home on Wheels
On the whole, staff were great, check-in and check-out were smooth and quick, the quality of the motorhome was fantastic. Features of the motorhome were simple to use and additional information and support was available through a convenient QR code.
The only negative about this experience was the actual motorhome that I was issued with was not the one that I thought I was ordering. During the booking process I compared a range of companies and configurations to find the one that suited my needs best and made my selection based on a 4 berth model with ensuite and two double beds. When I went to pick the vehicle up, I was presented with a 6 berth with one fixed double bed and a set of bunks. The configuration and extra dimensions of the vehicle were going to cause me challenges with my journey and I let staff know of my disapproval. The staff member was helpful and checked with her supervisor whether anything could be worked out but there was nothing suitable available. It was then that I was told that this was a common occurrence at this depot and that I was entitled to lodge a grievance form on completion of hire. My attention was directed to the disclaimer in the booking process that states that configuration may vary from depot to depot, but my point is; that if this is a common cause of customer dissatisfaction, either the booking system or the configuration styles should be amended to reflect customer demand. Either that, or clearly state at time of booking that this configuration is not available at this location which would have allowed me to look elsewhere. Did this ruin my holiday? No. Did it cause me some stress and frustration? YES! Were the staff helpful and empathetic. Yes. Was this value for money and would I recommend this company to others? Yes, but if you want a specific model, maybe call and speak to someone directly to get a clear and immediate answer before hitting the BOOK button.

Perfect motorhome rental experience
It was our first time renting a motorhome, and we couldn’t have had a better experience. The team at the Edinburgh office was incredibly friendly and made everything so easy, from booking to pick-up and return. The motorhome was spotless and felt brand new. We explored the Highlands and the Isle of Skye in total comfort. It was an unforgettable adventure. We’ll definitely do it again!

Would use again
Staff were friendly, collection and drop off were efficient simple. Rental was good, and there is 24hr support available. Only issue was when we could have used the support, we were out of reception range, so a physical troubleshooting/instruction manual would be a helpful addition.

NC500 road trip with Bunk Campers.
The staff at Bunk Campers were an absolute pleasure to deal with, they couldn't have been any more helpful. Our camper van was top class and it added to the brilliant experience we had driving the NC500.

Great experience, would definitely rent from again!
Easy, seamless check in and drop off process. No BS when it came to pre or post damage checks. Clean and new campervan, and would absolutely rent from this company again. Thank you for the memories!

Overall it was OK
Overall it was OK. We had a rough time picking up the camper as they were understaffed so we couldn't ask many questions about our van. The staff were trying their best though.
The steps to the bed were missing but they did say we will get reimbursement for the ones we had to buy - will see if that ever happens.
Layout of the camper was frustrating and our kitchen kit was missing several items. I also dont know why you provide porcelain plates and mugs but no way to secure these in the cupboards to avoid breakages.
Returning the camper was much smoother than collection.
Soo many more things I could write but those were the main things.

Caravan size was perfect for the NC500
We did not get the caravan I rented (two berths) but a double bed. We did not care for being bunk mates. Some minor issue but a sound vehicle for 1000 miles. Offered a drop and go at no extra charge. Caravan size was perfect for the NC500.

Great holiday
Great holiday, easy to hire and get started with the van, nice new vehicle, drove well and very comfortable, all onboard facilities worked well.
Perfect way to see an excellent country with your own itinerary and at your own speed.
A couple of small faults with the vehicle did keep things interesting, probably best to try and check everything works properly before you leave the depot!

Motorhome wasnt clean
Motorhome wasnt clean. Time to recieved the motorhome was slow and repetitive to check the document. I,m Still waiting to get a call from them to solve the issue wih the cleaning.

Unfortunately We Won't Be Back!!
When we arrived, the ladies doing the Meet & Greets were lovely, but our lady just seemed a little lacklustre which would come back to haunt us whilst we were away.
So, basically, 4 days into our 10 day trip, we were sleeping on the settee at the rear end of the van. That morning my wife, who is of smaller stature got up, and as she did so, there was an almighty cracking sound and the front of the bed snapped in half, rendering the whole bed useless. So, because our guide on Day 1 hadn't shown us how to use the bed overhead (this was our first time in a motorhome), our only option was to sleep on a pile of cushions on the floor for the next 6 days. Which meant as soon as I got home it cost me over a £100 worth of Chiropractor Treatments to try and rectify the damage to my back.
On examination, the front panel of the bed, which had snapped had been drilled around 10 separate times in the region that snapped, which I have no doubt weakened it to the point where it gave in.
We didn't report this, because at the time we were in a campsite in Ullapool, literally the other side of the Country. So, returning wasn't an option.
The whole situation was exacerbated 10-fold when we returned to our lovely friendly lady at the end of our holiday, told her about the sleep deprivation we had endured due to the bed breaking, to which she announced, with no apology and a big grin on her face that "Oh yeah, we get that happen a lot, don't worry we won't charge you!!"
Suffice to say, it has been difficult writing this without the use of expletives.
And the worst bit about it, is that the staff were genuinely really friendly, but just didn't offer an apology or an recompense.

Some good and some to work on
Some good points and some points to work on.
I will do my best to divide it into categories but it will be long and detailed:
Pickup:
The pickup process for us was a real headache. I know it was not that way for everyone. We were coming in from Belgium and our banks apparently don’t work that well with their system. More specifically the security deposit.
They use an app on their tablet to ask for a security deposit. It offers a few possibilities depending on which bank you are. For us we could either use our bank app or a card reader. The problem was that the app on their tablet was unable to communicate with our bank for some reason. We then tried several cards from both our own as well as friends and nothing worked. We were there for about 3 hours.
They offered no alternative. There is no bank card machine or anything in the shop. We offered to make a bank transfer but then we could only get the vehicle after accounting department received the transfer in their account which in theory could take a few days. In the end we had installed and created a Revolut account. This finally worked but it threw a real wrench in our planning and made for a lot of stress. The girl at the counter confirmed to me that we were not the first people to have this issue. Give this they should really find multiple alternatives to make sure the pickup process runs smoothly.
Then came the explanation of how to operate the vehicle. This was a very very shallow explanation and given the fact I had no experience with campers I did not know which questions to ask, which became a problem later on during our trip.
To give a proper example: they showed us where the toilet cassette was and how to remove it but not how to actually empty or troubleshoot it.
There was a tv on board and a 4G modem, but they did not explain how to get connection or how to get channels on the tv after turning it on. Basically I felt like I had to figure out a lot on my own and a few features we did not get to use.
There were other things I had to really find out and discover on my own during our trip, which would have been nice to know of the get go (I.e. the beds have nets to protect you from falling off)
Vehicle state:
The state of the vehicle was clean and everything worked as it should (except for one burner on the stove but that was a non issue since there were 2 others to be used). However I think that a few additions to the interior of the vehicle would make it much better.
A few hooks should be installed to hang stuff of from when standing still. We often found ourselves having to put our clothes in a corner of a cabinet. Or when cleaning constantly having to rearrange stuff. A few hooks would go a long way.
The shower door was slightly out of its frame which made it impossible to fully close and if the vehicle is not 100% level the door constantly opens up. Not a great shower experience. There was also not really a place to hang wet or dirty clothes.
Drop-off:
The drop-off was almost perfect except for one point.
I will start with everything that I liked about it.
- we had some damage on our side view mirror, but also some minor scratches from tree branches. They only charged us for the side view mirror which in my opinion is honest and correct.
- the checkup was done in a timely fashion and the agent was very nice.
- after only a few days we had received an invoice for the repair of the damages and one day later we received our deposit back in our bank account with the repair charges deducted. We paid £130 for the repair. The invoice was detailed and unambiguous.
- the process was all in all very easy.
One point that could be worked on or better.
They have zero camper facilities on site. Meaning you have to empty grey and black water before returning the camper. Failing to do so may result in a $250 charge. The problem is that they are located in Edinburgh and there are almost no service points around. There is one camping not too far but they charge £35 which is insane. Combine that with a drop off between 8:00 and 10:00 AM, and it really becomes stressful to get everything sorted on that day.
I understand they don’t have to offer this service but understanding the region they operate and the services they offer, I don’t believe it should be out of the ordinary to expect this, especially towards customer satisfaction. We really had to go out of our way to empty our grey and black water.
Conclusion: I would give 1 more star if they improved the pickup process, half a star if they made some small tweaks in the interior and another half a star if they would invest in facilities for their campers.
We did have a great experience with the camper and I would consider booking here again. I hope they make some small tweaks so I can give 5 stars in the future.

The Problems We Had
The pickup and drop off of the motorhome was a little confusing, but not bad, and the motorhome drove well. However the furnace in the motorhome would not work using either gas or electric power and when we contacted the company, their response took a couple of days and was to use the QR code to access the user manual. We had already done that. It apparently was not seen as a serious enough problem to address us personally. It was cold and for the entire trip we used the gas stove burners to provide heat. This is neither efficient or safe. The windshield wipers functioned in an absolutely crazy fashion and the lighting of the dashboard were totally unreliable. These are all problems that I would think should have been found before we were assigned the vehicle.
