Computer says no
Getting a quote and insurance online was easy, but the following day i noticed an error on the policy document so contacted an agent via chat to rectify it. The agent didn’t seem to understand the nature of my enquiry and kept asking me weird questions from a computer generated script. After 30mins of this, and an awkward chat trying to explain the difference between a roof rack and a roof box to the agent i was asked if i wanted to cancel my policy on the basis that nobody knows how to insure a car with a roof rack and a tow bar. By that point i did want to cancel my policy and was quite relieved. The agents aren’t insurance professionals, theyre employed to read a script from a computer. I would not recommend Beam to anyone on that basis.
Thanks Beam for the response below. After your condescending opener where you explain what insurance is for (thanks for that..) your response goes on to nicely illustrates my issue with your service. I mention a tow bar, you start talking about a trailer. I mention roof rack, you give advice about roof bars. I don’t have either a trailer or roof bars. Maybe you should take the time to understand your customers prior to lecturing them.

Hi Matt, you'd be covered for costs you're legally liable to pay if you cause damage to someone else's property, or injure someone.
We wouldn't cover the item being towed itself, unless it's a single-axle trailer that's covered under the policy.
Roof bars that weren't fitted as standard would be classed as a modification, as they're attached to the car, so we'd need to be made aware of them.

I contacted the department via there number on two occasions to sort out my policy. Both experiences were 100% .
The query was sorted out straight away by the most competent assistants I have ever spoken too!
I was so impressed with them it had brought back 💯 %🤩confidence in humans!!!
