Generally fine

Generally fine-over use of automated categories meant that it was difficult to identify the one that applied to me. I went for what was the nearest and it was wrong but swiftly rectified and all other aspects were fine

Hugely disappointed by M & S bank

Hugely disappointed by M & S bank. After being ripped of by a car dealer I was hoping I could rely on my credit card provider to set things right. Since February I have received muddled responses, copy and paste replies, phone calls from staff who can barely speak English (my guess is that customer services is outside of UK), errors in procedure setting back the process months, condescending replies and half apologies. Not only would I not use M & S bank again, I wouldn't consider shopping there either.

Marks and spencer credit card dispute team is embarrassing

Marks and spencer credit card dispute team is very dissapointing and unreliable. I have disputed 2 transactions with Debenhams under 100£, because they issued me a credit card note/gift card even when I chose an option for a refund to original payment method-which is my credit card. Stealing money just like that from their customers and in addition to that Debenhams issues gift cards valid only for 3 months. I have explained to Marks and spencer credit card dispute team( Minetta, who reassured me that she will help me with this issue), million times that I didn't chose the gift card option and Debenhams been sneaky and they issued me a gift card but Marks and spencer dispute team took Debenhams side and said that they have even reasonable by issuing me a gift card valid for 3 months, not even 1 year. I will be closing my Marks and spencer credit card as I don't need a credit card company who doesn't protect me even for 100£,never mind thousands of pounds. I never have had such an issues woth Barclaycard. I will better open Amex credit card rather than keeping Mark's and Spencer credit card. Marks and spencer dispute team, you are embarrassing. No wonder, why Mark's and Spencer credit card has got bad reviews on Trustpilot.

Dismissive and unacceptable treatment of a visually impaired customer

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with M&S Bank was genuinely upsetting.

After comparing personal loan options on a comparison site, I proceeded to the M&S Bank website. I was careful to avoid triggering a hard credit check and believed I was continuing to review or obtain a quote. As someone who is registered visually impaired, I rely on clear wording and accessible web design, and it appears I may have unintentionally submitted a full application in error.

Only afterwards did I discover that a hard credit check had been carried out and recorded on my otherwise excellent credit file, which I did not knowingly authorise.

I contacted M&S Bank to explain the situation and asked if the application could be withdrawn and the hard search removed as a gesture of goodwill given my circumstances. Unfortunately, the response I received was extremely disappointing.

The complaints handler was argumentative, dismissive, and lacking in empathy. Rather than listening, she repeatedly insisted the process was clear and challenged my explanation, which made me feel as though I was not being believed. At points, her tone came across as questioning how I was able to use online services at all given my visual impairment, which I found both inappropriate and upsetting.

I understand that processes exist, but there is also a responsibility to treat customers, especially those with recognised vulnerabilities, with respect and understanding.

I have now requested a final response and will be referring the matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service.

A very poor experience from a brand I expected much better from.

All has gone well I have one complaint…

All has gone well I have one complaint which is the voucher you receive of £25 i have been unable to spend on line and customer service poor, so I cancelled my payment of £10/monthly as I am unable to spend on line as I cannot always get to the store, needs sorting - taking £10 and end up throwing the £25 in the bin, out of date hence reason for cancelling.

M&S credit card is not worth the hassle!

After encountering difficulties using my M&S card I was informed that a ‘Total block’ on contactless payments was in place once I have spent over £300 on my card consecutively (it was not explained whether this was in a week, a month or a year??) followed by my pin num being blocked also. If this is the case, why does it clearly state on the M&S Banking website: 'There is no limit on the number of contactless payments'
My M&S card has been declined on numerous occasions at the checkout in Marks & Spencer’s in Llandudno North Wales as well as in other retailers.
I have been left frustrated, angry and embarrassed with a queue of people behind me when my card has repeatedly been declined. I have then had to use another card to pay, which means that I have lost out on all the ‘Perks’ of using my M&S card, receiving double points etc as part of the M&S Rewards scheme.
Therefore , after 2 calls to M&S customer services (abroad) where I struggled to understand what they were saying, I asked to be transferred to the UK.
A customer service agent called Cara , based in Chester dealt with my complaint in a friendly and professional manner.
However, I am very disappointed with the actual service provided and have still decided to cancel my account with M&S

Awful experience

Awful experience. Terrible communication and impossible to get hold of. My payments appear to be delayed by them by 24rs. Its automatic so sort your systems out. Just another online company. Useless

M&S Bank have changed the way you can…

M&S Bank have changed the way you can lay your credit card bill. I tried twice to pay direct from bank and on neither occasion did it work, requiring several phone calls to my bank and M&S Bank. Fault lies with M&S Bank. Customer service phone agents virtually unintelligible. I have attempted to close my account with M&S Bank by filling out the form they sent me online and submitting it. It submitted successfully but they claim they gave not received it. I have phoned to close my account and they informed me they would send a other form. As their forms do not appear to work, I told them to close my account immediately as I have a zero balance. Having been told they could do this, they then inform me that the account cannot be closed until I receive my next statement! I am not paying any more monthly fees. How to make an easy task difficult, ask M&S Bank.

I find the M&S banking app the best

I find the M&S banking app the best, it's intuitive which so many aren't. Balance transfer process is clear and simple. I don't normally leave reviews but credit where credits due.
