Thawed out meat on a hot day
DHL delivered the four venison fillets over 24 hours after collecting it and on one of the hottest days of the year. So all coolants in the package had defrosted and the meat was warmish.They had clearly made no attempt to keep it refrigerated. Not sure whether itis safe to eat or OK to freeze. I tried to contact the Wild Meat Company for advice, but without success.

Thank you for getting in touch. An email was sent to you yesterday afternoon, but in hindsight, a follow-up phone call would have been more helpfulâweâre sorry we didnât reach you directly.
As explained in the email, your venison loin fillets were sent as chilled, not frozen, so they had not defrosted in transit. Our packaging is specifically designed to keep products chilled for up to 48 hours, and in this case, the delivery was made within that timeframe.
Based on this, the fillets should be absolutely fine to eat or to freeze.

Good meat
The meat is good and delivery was on the day I selected. Would be good if I could have used paypal to buy, and I'm a little wary of using DHL for such time-sensitive goods, as I've had less than ideal experiences with them on other deliveries.

You donât know what youâre getting!!
I telephoned to check whether the Creedy Carver Duck I was at the point of buying would be fresh and not frozen and was assured it would be fresh and chilled but on receipt it looked as if it had been frozen. Despite this the label gave me the impression I could freeze it so it made me think perhaps it hadnât been frozen so I contacted them again to check and â- it had been frozen - good job I didnât re freeze it then??
Looking back over my emails the same thing happened when I bought a CC duck from them in 2023 .
Apparently there is some âhiddenâ info not plain to see
( like other websites) about items might be frozen.
I will never buy from the Wild Meat Company again because I like to KNOW whether I am buying frozen meat or fresh and it doesnât make any difference even when you call to check - youâre told one thing but get the opposite!

My items arrived when i wanted them delivered. They came well packaged. Iâve had a few of the venison sausages, they were delicious with the right amount of seasoning.
